  1. I know this was hours ago but yeah you wouldn't want to eat. They will suction out your stomach but when they intubate you there is risk of them hitting that gag reflex and I've seen patients with stuff in their stomach vomit everywhere, than you are at risk for aspiration, pneumonia. Lord knows you wouldn't want that!
  2. I had a friend who had pretty strenuous requirements. She told me she actually went through the program twice before completing it, because she found she just couldn't get through it the first time. There are hoops to jump through but it will be so worth it! Good Luck!
  3. My surgeon gave me a couple post op anti emetic prescriptions. I would definitely give them a call and ask for something! It will quite a bit more effective than anything you get over the counter.
  4. Have you tried searching for it on their website? Also have you spoken to your primary physician? They might have a referral for you.

I am 7 years post op from having my gall bladder removed and my scars are quite faded, pretty much the color of the rest of my skin and I would guess someone who didn't know, wouldn't really realize what they were. They are far from completely gone though.
  6. Good Luck! It was my original surgery date (and date I wanted for months and months) my surgeon is taking a much needed vacation (I am guessing he he) so I am letting him do that to be completely refreshed when he comes back to me in two weeks!
  7. I am interested too
  8. I've heard your A1C levels can have an effect dependent on what they are. I am not diabetic and do not know this for a fact. Someone else probably has more information.
  9. I have not had experience with that insurance but definitely start with your physician. It doesn't hurt to look up local bariatric clinics, find out if they have informational seminars etc... But more than likely you'll need that referral from your PCP and by going to them first you are setting up a good start to the relationship and journey that they are going to be a huge part of. My physician was new to me, I actually was set up with her the first appt after referral. I saw her 6 times in 5 months and you know when I hit my surgeons weight loss goal, she hugged me, when I told her I was approved she told me how proud of me she was. It created a part of our physician-patient relationship that I've never had with another doctor.
  10. I really wouldn't. Your body is well hydrated and in a bit of shock. If you can try to wait out until your two week check up (easier said than done) it will be a pleasant surprise.
  11. Well my goodness. I was planning on taking my Wellbutrin XL the evening before. That is just crazy
  12. Aug 27th @ 1115am... But who's counting?
  13. Mine is because of the 6 month requirement. I would guess with pre op testing, without the requirement that it would have taken probably 2-3 months.
  14. Mine came with a paper that shows other ways to use it, such as under the hips etc... where it can work in other areas. I saw a picture of someone standing on one I am not sure how that would feel!
  15. I too struggle with the pillow. It is awkwardly weird, I tend to stick with it for half the time and switch to a regular pillow. I will have to try it in the lumbar area.
  16. I've always wanted to volunteer for Search & Rescue in my county. I live in a heavily active, 4 season community. There are people lost in the snow every winter, out in the desert every summer, hiking trails, River rescues..... Every November they out a news article out seeking volunteers, every November I say "next year is the year" I am going to do it!
  17. I agree, each as individuals. My EKG was because of a history of anxiety related PVCs. I have a month long Holter monitor report that shows me as fine but he was concerned the anesteologist would have an issue with my Hx. I did just find out the hospital where I'm going has mandatory pre op testing when you go in for early admission (a week pre op) they do Labs, an EKG and a Chest X-ray. I know a girl who received a call the night before surgery that due to a concern with her labs they were postponing her surgery. I would freak out.... She did.
  18. PCP referral... Mandatory seminar... Tons of paperwork... Patient navigator did insurance contacting, gave me my requirements for surgery... Met surgeon. All in about a 2 week period of time.
  19. I had the same warning. I was also told that is the statistic and in his practice his sleevers are loosing as much as his RnY patients. On paper they don't expect me to get below 210.... 210?!? I don't think so! I plan on blowing that thought out of the water. However once I hit that number, statistically, I am a sleeve success.
  20. I am sure you know this by now, but there is no way they will let you wear underwear. They strip you butt ass naked, clean you up and sterile drape you. The nurse is used to it though, they are prepared and the bedding is stripped when you are done anyway. The nurse even cleans your belly button lol, it was the one thing the nurse told me, when I was in my OR rotation, that is neglected. This is something I have been concerned about though, I am highly irregular, but I just know that will be the week I start ha ha.
  21. Another thing.... I used to have bad knots in my lower back and it would take me rubbing them daily to keep them at bay. No joke two days of doing this they were gone. I think I paid $47 and it was the mat and a pillow and protective bag.
  22. For my birthday In July I received a gift card to Amazon I wasn't sure what I wanted to buy After I saw this post a few weeks ago I went ahead and I purchased an acupressure mat. I agree it took some getting used to but now when I use it for about 30 minutes a day I can't believe how much better I feel. I haven't paid much attention to my flexibility but it is taken away my lower back pain completely and it helps a lot with headaches and upper body tightness.
  23. Congrats! I am one day before you!
