I need help.. My surgery is Aug 30th I need to know what will I need for surgery? I don't have a pre op diet to follow... So those of you who didn't have one.. What did you do to prepare? Thanks !!

Your Doc hasnt given you a diet to follow?

The nutritionist in my Docs group office give a 2 week plan, but my Doc wants his patients to do it for 4 weeks. In the case of mine, it is liquid during the day and then a lean and green dinner. Or if I chose I can do liquid all day. Protein is the name of the game. High protein.

It isn't uncommon to hear of no pre op diet. I do have a pre op diet, but if I didn't have one I THINK I would probably follow something, just to be prepared. Make sure you are getting in sufficient protein, staying well hydrated, limiting the crazy "last meals" etc... Maybe something a little more lower carb to help curb your appetite so you don't feel restricted.

I had a 24 hr clear liquid diet. Thats it. And 4 yrs when I had lapband surgery (same dr) I had NO PREOP DIET WHATSOEVER. Not every dr requires one.

I did absolutely nothing to prepare. Ate what I wanted (but that of course was a lot less than say, before my lapband) until 24 hrs prior.
