  1. i have to disagree with you zingirl227. i have a friend who has had the gastric last year. yes that is true the weight loss is much more faster than the lap band but with that, she is sagging really bad and believe you me, she does get hungry just like the rest of us but as you know the difference between the surgeries. give it time, i hope that you haven't regretted your decision
  2. well its alright been a week and a day and I am coming back to being normal. I have to say that I have been blessed with my recovery. ALTHOUGH I AM HUNGRY AS HECK!!!!!! man one of my docs said that i will be on liquid for a week, then talked to the nurse and she said that my other doctor said he wanted me to be on the liquid for quite a while. I have now added protein and yuk!!! you guys I think I got the wrong one. I got soy protein. I added it to some apple juice and ooooooo i almost threw up. I need some ideas from you guys. I know that some of you have on the other threads. other than that, i am hanging in there eating jello, water, broth, etc.
  3. thanks edieparks for the recipe yummy!!!
  4. she had to be approx. 65. she had many problems, arthritis, breathing problems. i believe it did have a lot to do with her being obese.
  5. my co-worker had gas pain for knee surgery. she basically positioned herself with her bottom hunched up. (sorry I wish i had a picture) she said it relieved much pain
  6. yes that is something u must do. u have to spend the night there and they hook up all these fun little things in your hair, forehead, etc. i will tell you though you won't have a good night's sleep.
  7. good question chimboree26. i don't want to be faced with that. i hear a lot of guys saying how pain they are going through. i am wondering if i should start taking gas-x now
  8. hi tesma; i like the rest of the guys said, its pretty scary. but i wanted to share a story with you. on yesterday, a woman here died at the company where I work at. (i don't want to scare you) she was a very obese woman. It sadden me because I was just talking to her last week but also, she was finally trying to eat right. she was starting the adkins diet. its not an overnight thing for us to gain this weight. Its just like keeping a food journal, you won't be so quick to waste your calories on some junk food so when you get the band, you will really think more about what will happen if you over do it. stay encouraged, stay uplifted and stay on this forum!!!
  9. What worked for me and still does a Food Journal. dailyplate.com is so simple. it asks for you to pick a goal for calorie counting. I actually hiked mine's up from 1200-1500 but I also worked out. peanut that protein is very important. it fills you up!!! and you won't be so quick to waste your calorie intake on some foolishness!!! you go girl!!!!
  10. I was thinking the same thing. Isn't that the real reason why we took the psych with the dr. in the beginning? I always believed that it was always a made up mind thing. My doctors always said that this only a tool. and once we begin to realize that, we will always have that old mind set. Question: women when we have our monthly friends visiting, its either something sweet or salty; okay so instead of a candy bar, why can't we eat something that is healthy and still satisfy our sweet tooth. Again, its a mind thing
  11. so travelgirl; would you say that is just swelling?
  12. I also will be an outpatient as well. so in about 5-6 hours they will send you on your way?
  13. Hi guys, just wanted to let you guys know that I am getting closer to the surgery day and one more day before the liquid diet:hungry:. I just wanted to say that I love this site. I just want to release!!! I spoke with a co-worker who is also obese. 2 years ago, we always used to talk about contemplating about the gastric. so this afternoon he nows talk about how its such a bad idea. a lot of people he knows are having problems with the surgery. so i had to get a little bit more indepth why are they having problems:cry he ended up saying that they don't eat right, they always are sick etc. so i was up here wondering why he would say that umph!!!!
  14. also try plussize.com; always for me for some sharp swimsuits; silohuettes.com
  15. I too worried about that. I asked my surgeon will I sag much. Now that I think about it, how would he know. everyone's bodies are different!!! but i do agree that strenght training and aerobics can begin the journey. but by no means try not to let it stop you getting the surgery.
  16. congrats toniteach; thanks for the gas-x i read that there will be much gas and bloating. wow 16lbs loss only in a day!!!!
  17. oooopps! i am really at peace now. sorry for the error.
  18. Hi guys just wanted to say i finished the class that tells you everything you need, to what you will drink, how much etc. It was very informative. I am not really at peace now because the surgeon, staff are very caring and understanding. The woman who gave the seminar had gastric 7 years ago. I was tooo shocked :paranoid she really looked good and she was saying how she is a fanatic when it comes to working out. she works out all of the 7 days :clap2:. i just wanted to share that because before i know it, it will be next friday. i have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much to do.
  19. i do too. my dietian says carnation as well. i use skim milk or the slim fast high protein. its 15 grams.
  20. my surgeon said that i needed to lose 5 more lbs. i start my liquid diet 2 days before. question: will those 2 days make a difference in weight loss
  21. i had to go through the dietian, talk to the surgeon and get all the documentation in. since the surgeon does monthly surgeries at the hospital i am going to, my nurse had actually gave me a date before they even put it through the insurance. my nurse told me it would be 2 weeks before hearing back from ins. got an answer in 3 days
  22. you know susan4794 i have to agree you about people walking in our shoes. they really don't know. i have to share with you guys when i was going to my appts. one woman thought i had already had it. I weigh 230lbs. but a lot of people say they can't tell. i've been told i carry it well. umph!!!!
