  1. I would report them. But thats just me.. they are there to help us.. not to put us down or give negative feedback..
  2. Yay good for you. Keep up the good work.
  3. are you taking your vitamins? eating enough protein? and I take an extra Biotin and had been a couple of weeks before surgery.. the surgery itself is a shock to your system.. causing alot of things to go haywire.. I knew about the hair loss and started on biotin daily.. so far so good.. im 2 weeks out of surgery.
  4. 30 min before and 30 min after I was told.
  5. AWESOMENESS!!! I cant wait to get to onederland either. Keep up the good work.. you are an inspiration to us all.
  6. Holy crap on a cracker.. Im originally from Ukiah Calif.. how odd is that.
  7. Hi, we all have that nervous scared feeling.. I had it too.. im 12 days post op.. Im became a very strict label reader.. I could not tolerate the protein shakes anymore.. but what does work for me is an isolate whey protein drink I got from vitamin world.. comes in flavors..and its considered a clear liq cuz you can see thru it.. its rather tasty too.. Im 53 and doing great.. cant wait to get where alot of the others are at.. I will tell you the roughest week is the first week.. but after that.. smooth sailing.. rough in the sense that you still think with your head.. it wants to eat but you arent hungry.. head hunger.. and there will be some pain too.. so make sure you get some pain meds to help ease that.. but most of all.. its a 2nd chance to be healthy. Im going to get there and stay there no matter what.. be strong and hang out here. its a great support system. great ideas and some new friends.. alot of experiences with things here too.. what works.. what didnt work for each and everyone who comes here.. everyone is different.. Best of luck to you.. hope to talk to you soon.. there is a chat forum here too that we all go to and talk.. its great.. good luck you will soon be on that journey to a new you and a new life..
  8. Target you say? I will have to go there tomorrow. thanks for the tip.
  9. I really love the Beef broth
  10. good for you on getting the band.. just take is slow and sip all day long.. thats the key.. make sure you dont drink too fast it will make you sick.. im 10 days out and on the next phase.. I have a hard time with the protein now too.. before the surgery I didnt.. but since then.. I cant stomach them.. it does get better.. remember to take your vitamins too.. find out from your doc what the least amt of protein you can have.. that might be a lower number. good luck in your new journey.
  11. Hi, My husband and I both had the surgery.. im 10 days out and he is 3 days out.. He is having stomach issues.. I had the same ones.. I too cannot stomach the protein shakes much.. he can.. but I do try to drink as much as I can so I wont dehydrate.. but it does get better.. my stomach is better now.. just recovering is what you are feeling... Hang in there thats what I was told.. and they were right.. I am getting better.. I guess we all go thru a lil of something. good luck.. this is a great site for sharing and experiences of others
  12. Hi Im also a dec 20 sleever.. I dont go back to work til Jan 7th. dr orders.. I felt hungry at first on that post op diet too.. but you know that went away about the 5th day.. I did not cheat.. I have advanced on to the next phase for which they have listed what I can eat.. now I eat and get so full.. had to learn what the full was.. that stuck in your throat gurgling feeling in my stomach..and no drinking 30 min before or after eating a semi solid food.. eggs or mashed potatoes or boiled ones... havent tried jello or pudding yet.. plus I cannot drink much of the creamy soups yet either.. but I do love the sugar free popsicles.. those are yummy. if you stick with the program you should be ok.. ive lost 20lbs so far.. so im very happy about that.. waiting for things to come for me.. having a hard time imagining eating reg foods again.. im like wow one bit and im full.. and then to have to eat a whole cup at meal time.. lol for the first time im like.. I cant do that.. so I should be ok.. trying to get all my protein in is hard in the beginning until you can eat other foods.. I get about 40-50. doc said for me that was ok for now and keep trying.. so I will.. let me know how you are doing.
  13. I thought that maybe that feeling was a full feeling.. but I get that with the creamy soups too.. when I feel that.. I stop and it does feel like something stuck in my throat.. ok glad someone else has that too.. thanks for posting
  14. I wont miss.. 1. Double chin 2. shopping in the plus size section 3. seatbelt extenders 4. The golf ball pick stuff up off the floor stance.. I want to squat 5. sitting at a table in restaurant. and soon to be about to sit in a booth.
  15. My husband goes tomorrow too.. good luck. on to a new Journey.. mine was dec 20th.
  16. I too am having the hunger thing.. and Im 5 days out of surgery.. Im told too that it will diappear.. I hope too that it does soon.. I dont like feeling that.. makes me want to eat things I shouldnt have.. but I do eat.. and I cant eat much. seems to curb the feeling.. but I really want that to go away.. Im told to be patient and it will. So im gonna be patient..and wait..and deal with the hunger.. or head hunger..
  17. Good Luck to you.. im post op 6 days as of today.. no regrets
  18. Im 5 days out Dana.. I have not weighed either.. I dont want the disappointment.. I dont want my life to be ruled by the scale.. my husband refused to buy one. I go for my first dr appt thurs. and I will weigh then... But like others have said they too didnt lose then all of a sudden bam! your body might need some time to adjust to what just happened.. it will happen... never saw anyone who didnt lose any weight at all.. and you had no post op diet either.. others here have had a week or 2 weeks of liquids... I had one week full liquid..and now on cl liq. until thurs.. then I get new foods. It will be ok.. dont let the scale rule... enjoy your new adventure... good luck to you.
  19. No cath for me either.. I got up and went on my own.. My doc said he doesnt usually do the cath thing unless there are some issues. Im 5 days post op and have not had any bathroom issues.. took my pain ball and iv pole to the bathroom with me.. my plumbing works very very well.. good luck.
  20. My husband has his on the 27th also.. I had mine on the 20th of dec. I too had what I called a panic moment.. started to cry.. I wasnt sure what to expect even tho Ive watched a video of the surgery. I had all sorts of things going thru my head.. but I did it.. I woke up and poof.. there I was in recovery. and off to my room. got to my room..and decided im not laying in this bed..and got up to the chair. I too had the bed couch dilemma. sooooo I sat in a big chair at home..and figured out a way to get into the bed too.. almost slept in the chair cuz it was more comfy. soon after the surgery.. all those fears went away.. its like ok.. piece of cake.. I did it... I know you will be great too.. I will be there for my husband just as he was there for me.. I wish you all the best of luck.. and keep posting. let us all know how you are doing.
  21. Im 5 days out and Had some pain in the hospital.. but they gave a scheduled pain med toradol. I didnt ask for it.. they gave it to me..kept the pain at bay.. they also had morphine set up for every 2hrs prn. and Loratab too every 4hrs prn.. didnt need any of those at all.. I left the next day.. walking helps the pain.. and it does get better. I do take the liq loratab they sent home with me. but only at night when I go to bed so I can sleep comfortably. hang in there it does get better.
  22. I too am on the cl liquids and protein shakes for a week after surgery.. and I was on full liquids the week before.. Its not a huge variety of things.. but Im going to do what the dr says... I advance when he says.. its a life long commitment. If you had the surgery you knew before hand what the process was.. its so important to stick to the diet. lots of flavored liquids out there.. different broths too.. chicken, beef, veggie, plus I get in my vitamins and my protein like he said to.. I plan on being a success and Im not going back to the way I was eating.. this is a new journey for all of us here. stick to the program and you will be a success too.. be strong
  23. OMG my husband says I burp like a sailor.. LOL ive never burped so much before in my life. I move to my next phase on Thursday.. the mushy stuff and I cant wait.. experienced a full feeling today.. was awesome..
  24. I can understand where you are coming from.. I had surgery on dec20 and my husband will have his dec 27th.. and from what Im told.. Men seem to lose weight faster than women do..I too was worried that he is going to do so much better than me. He is a great supporter for me and I for him.. dont know what I would of done without him by my side this whole time.. I too have 4 brothers. But I think Im not going to think of this as a competition. im going to do whats right for me.. and if it takes me a little more time then him.. thats ok.. the key to it is to follow what the doc says and things should be ok. I am planning on working out so I dont get the saggy skin.. that scares me the most I think LOL. Be well.
