Disappointed
ive been on a steady pace losing wt.. gonna be freaked when I hit a stall. it has slowed up some..but I just started the gym too.. so it will pick up im sure.. I shouldnt complain.. cuz I am down 66lbs in 3 months.. which is really great and without trying.. but now I have to up the program and go to the gym.. which isnt really bad at all.. got a personal trainer to make a program for me.. but you will find it will stall a bit then start up.. thats normal.. hang in there you are doing great..welcome to the club.

Is anyone having a food funeral?
I did my food funeral before starting my pre op diet.. I was on that for a week.. so the day before that started.. I went to texas roadhouse for a nice prime rib lol... but the beauty of it all.. I can only now eat a 1/3 of that if even that.. still will be tasty..but just will have lots of leftovers for sure.. havent been out to eat yet.. still enjoying the fact I cannot eat much at all..and how much food doesnt interest me at all anymore...

Starting regular foods? Help.
shaved meat... turkey or chicken were my first.. they are fairly wet meats.. dry stuff goes down hard.. and string cheese is good.. tuna.. chicken.. salmon... proteins like that are great for you and not high in calories either.. I can have pretty much anything I want.. but I stay away from fatty foods.. I read labels carefully.. low carbs.. fat free.. sugar free... once you read the labels.. you will find what is good and what isnt good for you.. my stomach tolerated those well.. small amts at first and weigh your food too.. that way you dont set yourself up to eat too much.. you wont be able to eat much really.. pay attention to what your stomach is telling you.. and trust me.. it will tell you when you are full or close to it.. best of luck to you on your new journey.. im post op dec 20th and down 66lbs and happy to be buying new clothes

I have the same issue.. I too work in a nusing home...and have yet to eat in front of anyone.. I also work at the hospital..and I avoid those settings too.. everyone is curious always asking what I can eat and what I cant..and how much.. and this is an every day thing too.. I dont mind them asking.. but its been close to 3 months now lol.. I think they just want to see me eat.. im like sheesh.. I eat like you do.. with a fork and knife and spoon.. dang lol. I just answer and smile and say thank you on the compliments on how much weight I lost..and boy do they want to know how much.. man they are nosey.

Where are the 50s ???
I too went thru menopause very early.. was done with that at 42 also.. I was sleeved on dec 20th. and im down 63lbs.. have not seen wrinkles.. my friend told me all her friends that have had the sleeve looked older. I dont believe it.. I dont think it makes you look older.. skinny yes.. old no.. im 53yrs old.. she got the band.. and is not losing that much wt.. but then she has excuses for that.. I just smile and say.. well im down 63lbs..and go to the gym... and Im healthy... as for the saggy stuff.. yeah gravity is cruel lol.. but I can fix that..and will when I hit my goal wt.. my doc said that stuff can be taken care of and my insurance will pay for it too.. so im not worried much about that other than.. OMG I get to go clothes shopping for my cruise...and I will look damn good too

IM HAVING THE WORST DAY. CAN EVEN THINK ANYMORE !
Hang in there.. Im so very glad you and your son are ok.. I know things are hard right now and there are unsupportive people in your life..and there is always someone who is a debbie downer... I think a lot of the time they are just jealous.. good things are yet to come.. be positive... your son needs you healthy... the BF can take a hike if he doesnt like it... you are on your way to a new you..and maybe a new BF if he cant be supportive..and you have us here... I think that we all have challenges along the way.. your BF should be glad nobody you or your son went killed... I lost my son the day of my surgery.. he was murdered... was probably the worst day of my life... but if it were not for my husband who had to break the news to me... I would of just died too... you need some good support in your life... it helps so much. you are on your way ... be strong .. be happy about this.. its a great thing.. Im down 63lbs from dec 20th... best thing ive ever done... best of luck to you

Eating to fast?
could be terrible gas.. my shoulder too hurt really bad.. didnt know what it was.. did some more reading..and yup gas will cause it.. I also found out that using milk with my protein powder caused the diarrhea.. my doc said to use water instead of milk.. I had phases of weeks of foods to eat..and each week something new was added but the first week was liquids.. then to soft mushy... and eat slowly..and sip sip sip... walking is a must.. it helps with the pain and the gas.. it does get better trust me there.. and oh the rewards.. you will find your tastes have changed also.. a whole new way of thinking about food.. great things ahead for you.. take it easy.. the first couple of weeks are the roughest.. remember your stomach is making some huge adjustments... its like withdrawls lol.. poor tummy... but hang in there.. and best of luck to you.. if it gets worse.. always always call your doctor.. thats what they are there for.. my group is awesome.. I even got to speak at my docs forum on the surgery..was awesome.

hi and welcome to this site for us sleevers... I was all of the above too.. even cried before going into surgery.. it was overwhelming for me.. never been thru surgery like this before.. but I did really well.. was up and out of bed within 15 min of getting to my room and out in the hall walking within the hour.... I wanted to go home and did everything my doctor told me too.. passed the swallow test the next morning and home I went.. and onward to a new life.. food will no longer dictate my life.. and it doesnt.. this is the best thing since chocolate lol.. I now go to the gym and do some cardio work.. and ive lost a total of 63lbs since dec 20.. so yes this has worked for me. changed many things.. but hey its been well worth is.. welcome

Dry Skin?
wow I had major itching issues.. no rash or prickly anything.. but wow itch itch itch.. all over my stomach.. was afraid of hurting my incisions.. and even spoke to the doc.. he looked and said its just dry sking.. try a lotion.. so I got some good lotion..started putting that on..and it helped the problem.. now Im post op since dec 20th and the itching has almost totally stopped.. but I still lotion the tummy.. glad there is a place for us over 50 people lol.. 50 going on 30.

What do you think?
the sleeve is a tool that you get.. and with any good tool.. it takes someone (you) to use it properly to work.. and let me tell you its the best thing.. you have to follow all your docs instructions and follow the diet.. but the sleeve wont let you eat more than you can take it.. you get sick.. and thats not pretty lol.. now ive been very good..and have done everything I was suppose to do.. and im down 60lbs since dec 20th.. now what more could I ask for... I cant wait for more to come off.. but you have to make the effort.. you and the tool you are given... its not an easy thing at times.. but the end results..are fantastic.. Im still on my journey and will be for the rest of my life.. but oh the rewards of being a normal size.. ive been heavy most of my adult life.. not obese but I finally got there after my last child... but no more for me.. im taking back my life.. im not going to be like that anymore.. I have control now.. and the surgery will give you that too.. I found that I didnt like the foods I used to.. something changed in me.. not sure what.. but ive changed... its like I know now what I have to do..and im running with it.. best of luck to you on your new journey
