  1. Im new too..and im 4 days out.. still on liquids and protein shakes.. I advance on thursday after I see the doc. I dont have any swallow issues as of yet.. but yeah its very hard.. specially right now around the holidays when everybody is cooking and there are lots of goodies.. Im staying home away from all of that. And Matlock thats how I learn about stuff I read what everybody else is experiencing. Keep up they say it gets much much better.
  2. have you done a stress test? I had a hiatal hernia.. my doc fixed that while he was in there.. might of been what was causing me some pain. but it wasnt chest pains
  3. sugar free popsicles are wonderful. Very tasty.. I got the tropical sugar free ones.. and I eat beef broth.. the low sodium one.. its very very tasty. frozen crystal light is great too. Im 3 days post op myself..and I do love the broth.. comes in chicken or beef and veggie kind. Jello is great too.
  4. I had to tell my bosses because I was asking for FMLA. much to my suprise.. they were very supportive of what I was doing.. I didnt tell all the co-workers.. just ones I knew would not blab my business.. I told them I was having stomach surgery and that was all. and thats not really a lie.
  5. I too had read some of the "horror" stories.. I was scared to death to have the surgery.. but now that ive had it and went thru the routing barium swallow eval and no probs.. I listen to my Doctor.. and do exactly what he says to do.. and I dont read all that stuff anymore.. everyone is different.. I quit worrying about all that and concentrated on what I needed to do to get all my protein and fluids down.. I figure why worry about something that may or may not happen.. they can fix it if it does.. its all good.. please dont worry so much about that.. you need to be eating and doing the right things. Thats whats going to trip you up... stay on track. thats the Key to success. just dont read that stuff.. I focused on reading all the positive things in here..and I get excited about doing well. it will be ok.. I was scared too.. but its all good now.. Im good and soon I will be on my weigh to posting how much Ive lost and how well ive done.. all the best to you.. keep in touch.. Im only 3 days out myself.. but Im doing well.
  6. I make crystal light pops for myself..and the popsicles. sugar free jello is very good.. and so is the low sodium beef broth. love that. got some organic veggie broth... but didnt like the taste of that..and believe me im all about taste.
  7. I just had my surgery on the 20th.. I too was sent home the next day.. not really having any problems.. no trouble going to the bathroom...no hair falling out.. I do have hunger but they say that will go away in a week or so. Cant wait to move to the next level.. Im out walking every day and in the house.. I think the key is walking.. it makes me feel better when Im up and walking. I have not weighed myself.. I dont think I want to til I go for my first appt. loving the sugar free pops I get to have.. those are delicious. protein shakes are good too.. so Im doing quite well I think.. Pain ball out.. still taking liquid loratab when needed.
  8. How funny thought I was the only one not having the gas.. my burps dont taste like anything in particular... and I have no trouble going to the bathroom for sure.
  9. Dec 20th and scared, nervous and I dont know what.
  10. I was too on a "full liquid" diet.. which you could have cream soups.. ice cream (sugar free) and jello and pudding.. things like that.. but ive not lost much weight on that.. and my doc only required me to be on that a week before surgery and the day before clear liquids then NPO after midnight. so I was frustrated at the fact I didnt lose any weight and the fact that I ate a whole lot less.. so disappointed there.
  11. I havent had my surgery yet but im already taking biotin and will get my vitamins started before the surgery and im hoping for the best.. my hair is very very very long and I hate to lose that.
  12. Thanks for sharing your weight loss.. Im going in on the 20th of Dec. I hope I am as successful as you have been... I have a great support so Im hoping I will do well. My husband is having the same on the 27th of Dec. Keep up the good work on the weight loss.. you look fabulous.
  13. That is so awesome. Ive not had mine yet.. dec 20th is my surgery date.. what was the secret of so much weight loss in that short of time?
  14. what about the sodium content in the jerky?
  15. My husband randydec27 and I (Nancydec20) have both been approved for surgery.. I dont know weather Im happy or scared to death about that. All I know is that things will change for us forever.
