Every couple of days there is a thread with these slip ups. Last one was a chocolate chip cookie and the one before that was a dry piece of toast.
Some are going to hit you hard because they fear you will cause a leak. They have lived through it and will feel the need to make you understand what your risking. Every doctor is different and there is no gold standard to when you can eat what in reality but many here do not feel a nipple of junk food is not worth suffering through the torments of a leak! Others here are eatting steak by week three.
Here is my thoughts on your post. You are still trapped in a familiar pattern of failing to resist the temptation, that is cause for concern. It is hard to be full on liquids so I will say I think the temptation is bigger now than it will be when you can fill up on Protein before the chic fila and the movie. However the fact remains in order to set a new pattern that will lead to a healthier you, your going to have to be able to say no.
The answer does not lie in removing all temptation because our love ones still want to eat and go places. The answer comes from with in you. Why did you have surgery? What were your goals? Now why your thinking of those (and I would go as far as to write them out) do a reality check on how you are the one sabatoching your own goals.
After completing this exercise you are back at square one, time to start over. Read through the list of goals and determine not to be the one to sabatoch your own goals. You can be successful by simply not giving up. When things have went wrong pick yourself up, refocus on the goal, and get moving forward. That is a pattern that will lead to success. I know you can do this!

Hi rainbows, congrats on your sleeve. You can take gas-x, and try rolling your shoulders back and forth if the pain is in your chest/back/arms, and rub your belly gently in circles, it helps move the gas around to get it out.

I get where your coming from and that the cookie or toast is not worth the pain. For the record I am sticking to my purée.
With some doctor's allowing all food following a few days of liquid I don't think we can say anyone food is a risk if chewed properly. I think it is a splendid idea to purée what you can't resist at least the consistency of food should be right.
The issue to be is patterns of behavior. We must set better pattern for good results

I think when you have lived through a rare complication it seems you need to warn others. Iggy has lived through the hell of a leak.
My complication incase you don't know was a cut to small bowel because of scar tissue. I feel the need for every person to be checked before surgery but at such a very small percentage of bowel cutting accidents I know it is not going to happen. My complication came from surgeon error plain and simple so I can't tell people how to prevent it. If like Iggy I thought I could help others by telling them not to do this or that I would.
We do however need the voice of reason that having done the research can tell us what the medical norm is suppose to be. We can't operate off the worst case rare complications are going to get us all if we don't watch out but we certainly can't ignore them either.
We all need balance of optimistic hope and caution of possible complications a mix of Iggy and Mason do this.

Thank you for a most interesting read. I am at 21 days today. I am on purée for another week and plan to stay that way just to be safe. However your information is good to know so when I move to soft foods next week I won't be so scared.

Leaks are a big fear of mine so I read a lot of threads concerning them.
I am not in any way advocating eatting wrong but many do and post of their slip ups and progress without issue. Also we are all aware of how much doctors orders vary. Some doctors have no restrictions following surgery and others have weeks of liquids only prior to and following many weeks after.
I am suspecting leaks are more often caused my faulty staple lines or skin deteriorating around staple line than by wrong foods busting them open. That said I guess we should do all we can to be sure we don't bust a staple but I fear in the end it is all just bad luck, doctor misstaple, or bad tummy tissue that is goning to get us.
One cookie will not defeat you it is the pattern of behaviour that will determine your future.

My surgery isn't for 12 more weeks but I'm on an 800 calorie a day diet right now and I lost 20 pounds super fast and then gained two back and am now completely stalled. Frustrating isn't the word for it. My stall has been going on for more than a week!!!! I just keep going knowing that this time I'm going to have more determination to lose the weight than my body has to KEEP it! I expect that by the time the New Year rolls around, I'll be back dropping weight again. Keep it up. No worries!

Welcome! You are doing some great stuff to get you on the right path! The exercise will help your body be strong and ready to heal. I would go ahead and cut caffeine and really up Water intake as more ways to prepare your body for fast recovery. Time will pass before you know it and you will meet many having the surgery on the same day as you by the time you get there.
Spend this time looking at all the info you can. Learn and know the complication that can and do occur so you are sure you want to tackle this with a child so young. Notsaying you should not just saying know the risk and then decide what is best for you and yours.

I am very surprised at how little the general public's knowledge is about the sleeve. When I have told someone they see. To get mixed up with the lap band. I have had to explain no they do not put a sleeve on my stomach several times. So when you do tell educate.

You put a bunch of addicts together detoxing and there is bond to be some hissing and growling. I find those who have had more serious complications or harder travels down this road for whatever reasons are most passionate about their belief of what is the right way. Sometimes it may not come off this way but I believe they are just trying to save everyone from suffering what they have. The delivery just fails to display the motive.
I am one with a serious complication. I wish I could make it a rule everyone must get an MRI to show the doctor any scar tissue. I reported I had a C Section but no imaging was done. I almost died. I feel a lot of guilt because a surgery I chose almost took me from my family. If some one posted concerning scar tissue I could see myself with a strong response because I feel the need to save them. I would be frantic about it not really concerned with politeness just being sure they knew they must make the doctor do imaging!
Many of those who jump on someone for eatting wrong fear the poster will cause a leak by putting their sleeve under to much stress. I am only 3.5 weeks post op and I live in such fear of a leak!! Have you read the horror stories of those who lived through a leak? I can understand a passion from them not wanting anyone else to walk through that hell.
That being said we all need to try and raise above hormone, hunger, regret, and fear to be civil and supportive to each other. Wishing all sides a Merry Christmas and a skinny New Year. I hope all of us find skinny = happiness in our lives.

I don't think the coffee was the turning point Sarah, because my NUT said we just had to give caffeine up for healing after surgery and not forever.
I guess it is hard for me to grasp only loosing 30lbs and then gaining that back on what a small about I can now eat. I guess as I can eat more if that were all heavy calories then maybe but it still seems hard to grasp.
I am trying to understand your mind set, Did you think you could get by eating bad foods because you could only eat small amounts. Also when you saw the weight stop coming off and then regain start was there attempts to do right or is this your first attemp?
I noticed your new did you have support before, during, or after surgery ? Had you been on Here before?

Sarah I continue to check back on this thread because as a newly sleeved person I just can't grasp I risked my life and this could all fail. Please you have already shared so much and for that I thank you but could you please give an example of what you where eatting to cause regain. I really hoped the sleeve would prevent over eatting to some extend so total weight gain would be impossible? Give me an example of a bad day of eatting . Did you feel stuff and ignore that?

Go to Amazon and type in unflavored Protein powder. You will find several options. I dissolve it in my tea and coffee. I was the Protein Shake queen before surgery having a hard time drinking them now at 3 1/2 weeks out.

Okay, I am starting to rethink this whole thing and I am not buying it. There is no way someone with 140 pounds of extra weight loses 30 pounds total on the sleeve. No way! Me and too many friends have had this surgery. Some lost 30 in the first month! Either there is something seriously medically wrong with Sarah and her sleeve or this is someone trying to add doubt and scare us. If she would have said she lost 70 and regained 30, I might buy this. But really who loses 30 total? I started at 240 which I think was a low starting weight and I lost 30 in less than 60 days and I ate a bunch of crap! I am calling BS, Sorry.
