Hello Everyone!!!! Today is my Big Day !! This time last year I changed my life. I had VSG. If you followed me in the beginning you would know that i had a lot of problems. I was sick for about 4-5 months after having the surgery and I had a lot of regret because people were having more success than me... After a while and some tweeks in Vitamins things started to turn around... By my 6 months I had lost 100lbs.. this was revealed on Christmas Day.. Then I met my weight loss goal of 160lbs on Feb 27th.. I have been maintaining since then between 153-160.. Today I weighed in at 152lbs. I am not going to say that my journey has been easy because it hasn't .. It took me a long time to come around.. I had a love hate relationship with food for a long time... There are still foods that i cant or don't eat and I don't push it.. I just let it be.. I so not do Pasta, rice or breads.. I will so sliced bread every now and then. I work out 5-7 days a week. I workout with a personal trainer 2 days a week, I walk, I'm running now.. The longest was 3.5 miles this pass weekend. I have done 3 5k's and i have one scheduled for next Sat which ill be my 4th and my 2nd obstacle run... I box, lift weights, hula hoop and I can walk up hills and stairs like its nothing. I eat 3 meals a day with 1-2 snacks.. I still measure my food. I don't drink with my food, nor do I drink alcohol. I do use a straw and i have been using one since 3-4 weeks after surgery per my docs approval. I pretty much follow the rules 85-90% of the time.. but I will say I love dark chocolate and I do partake, lol. No cakes or Cookies and no other candies, just chocolate.. I love my new life now... I learning to love the new me everyday!!! I have let go of a lot of pain that got me to my point of unhappiness and over weight.. I have forgiving a lot of people and I have told a lot of folks where can go to... I surround my self with positive folks and My Husband has been my Number 1 Supporter. In this last year, I have been to multiple concerts, 4 weddings, zip-lined indoor sky dived.. danced the night away in 4 inch heels and I have even been in a size 2... My beginning wt was 273.6, I am now in small tops and dress. size 4-6 pants, my feet even got smaller I went from a 10 to a 8.5. I have had my wedding ring re-sized twice and it needs it again. Links have been taking out of my watch.. I just have so much energy.. and my favorite thing to do is to cross my legs... I am off all meds, cpap, and pain management. I have gone from seeing my docks every other week to once a year now!!! There are so many NVS I cant count but I'm sure you get the just of it... and along the way I have meet some awesome people in the weight loss community!! I'm super excited about today!!!

I am sorry you had to deal with the ass end of my gender. I've recently had to deal with an issue myself and it is quite difficult sometimes to understand why people do the things they do. My girl of 10 years left me last month for someone else. She told me I had changed to much. She told me I look and feel different and she wanted to move on. For the last 3 weeks I have felt so guilty for losing 110 pounds. I have felt so ashamed for changing myself because that's the reason she left me. Because I changed for the good. I do things now that I thought I never could. I wanted to grow old with her. I know it sounds corny but I didn't expect this from surgery. I knew some things would change but I never imagined it would be this. Even other people such as co-workers, family and even some friends treat me differently. Almost as if I was invisible before and now all of a sudden they want my company. It is heavy on my heart that people are this way. But you know what, I do me. I have learned that I need to focus on myself and I have done that. Despite the issues at hand I work 2 jobs, work out twice a day and just stay positive. Thank goodness for my dog Oreo Thanks for sharing your post. It's always easier to talk to someone about something when they have to deal with BS as well. Good day to you.

yazun82 reacted to Reigo in Single... but to shy to mingle
I wish you were in FL! I would be your coach! I seriously think flirting is an art form. I was in Malta for work and the men were delicious and my colleague was also very shy and was so blown away at how I "work the room" and would get us free drinks everywhere we went. She told me to write a book. After 2 weeks with me, she picked up a few tips.
Another really easy way to practice is on waiters or bartenders (in non crowded bar). Pay attention to the waiters name and address him by it. When he asks if you are ready to order reply with "Michael, if this is my last meal, what must I have from this menu. I am putting my last meal in your hands so don't let me down" he'll know you are playing around but it's fun. I did this last night and the waiter wanted to suggest everything we ate after that! You can keep it up after he comes over to see if you like it and respond "delicious, will you come with me everywhere I order" or "I knew I was in goods hands with you Michael".
Waiters are captive audiences and used to most people ignoring them or being rude so they love a nice customer, let alone a pretty girl! Plus, you are required to talk to them so there's no awkward approaching a stranger obstacle.
With a bartender, you can say something like "I don't want anyone else making my drinks but you. Take care of me, and I'll take care if you. And make sure no one slips me anything"
As everyone else said smiling and eye contact go a long way.

I too was shy but since losing the weight I have gained confidence. My one friend told me to just be myself and to put myself out there. I have met some guys and am doing stuff I would have never had the guts to do before. Here are some of my tips
When I go out with friends I always look my best and have a blast with them Giggle, smile, dance, sing...and if a guy makes eye contact smile at him, look away for a second, then look back and smile...if he is interested he will approach.
If you are dancing and a guy comes up to you to dance have a series of hand gestures with your friends...one that says help get me out of here another that says I am ok.
The one that I found most useful was to just let go and have fun. Don't read too much into it. Don't think too much. You don't have to say much. Listen, maybe touch his arm or hand. Smile, play with your hair. Respond to his questions. If you blush that is ok too. Remember guys get shy and nervous too. If a guy is really interested in you he will be very obvious. Also I am pretty oblivious when it comes to guys flirting. My friends had to point out to me that guys were checking me out, so chances are you are being checked out. Have fun

Practice, practice, practice. You need to find your inner goddess. Steps to finding your inner goddess:
Step 1: look in front of the mirror after you've dolled yourself up, and say things--out loud--to yourself like, "I'm hot." "I'm beautiful." "I'm sexy." I'm SERIOUS!!! It works to build more confidence, and confidence is key. Do it EVERYDAY! I promise this works (I work with young girls with self esteem issues, however I don't use the hot or sexy lines with them)
Step 2: pretend your an actress with impromptu lines. Go up to a random guy at an outing (grocery store, restaurant, sports bar, etc.) and say, "Hi, I'm ____. What's your name?" Make sure to force yourself to make eye contact. (Women who make eye contact and hold it or maintain it throughout a conversation make a showmanship of their confidence. ) Continue to make small talk, "I'm new to the area and I'm trying to branch out and make new acquaintances. Are you from here? What social clubs/restaurants do you suggest?" You have to practice. Write down questions and or possible conversation starters. Stick to topics you can converse about well. And despite being or feeling uncomfortable, make continual eye contact. Practice.
Step 3: make small gestures. Gestures can be made with your eyes, hands, and body. A touch of the arm or shoulder when something is funny or shocking. When he says something flirty use a side glance that is slightly hooded with small smile to acknowledge the gesture. Lean in towards him with your body. Practice.
Step 4: walk in, no matter where you go, like you're the sh*t. Back straight, chin up, confident stride. Even if you don't feel like you are, you have to psyche yourself out. Again, pretend your an actress playing a role. When you practice this over and over, you begin to believe it and feel it, and before you know it, you are confident women ready to conquer anything.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm all about women empowering themselves with confidence. Good luck!

Some of my friends are excellent flirts...I am not, so I have asked them some questions, and they all say similar variations on smile, look around and make eye contact...being shy actually works in your favor in the eye contact department...if you lock eyes even briefly and smile and look away, and then glance back, it's perfect!! Most guys that are available will take that as a "all clear" to approach someone.
Also, until you get comfortable with it, you can ask yourself "what would someone who is outgoing do in this situation?"...and then try that. It will feel awkward at first, but practicing on strangers means if it goes "poorly" you don't have to see that person again, and really, who cares what complete strangers think of us?

Take a pole dancing class, I'm serious. It'll bring out the sexy in ya. You'll learn how to position your body to be inviting, you'll learn how to flirt with your eyes, etc plus it's a heck of a work out. You look sexy but once you feel sexy...that shy crap will be history!!!

yazun82 reacted to SexySlim in 6 Month Surgiversary 9/28/2012 Pics
I can't believe it's been 6 months! I took my 6 month pics yesterday the 28th. My weight loss has been "stalled" for the past two months. I lost 3 lbs last month and maybe 1 this month. So I think my honeymoon phase was 4 months. I posted 13 week pics and they don't look that much different than these. I can tell I'm shrinking though. And I've still been working out and started doing TapOut XTreme workouts along with my Elliptical. Here's a summary of my stats and goals:
    Height: 5'11" still an Amazon
    Weight: 288 to 231.4 lbs
Size: tight 20W to 18 regular (16 in dresses)
    Tops: size XL to L
Goal: 190 size 14 (in pants and dresses) not sure what weight that requires, I don't remember ever being under 200 lbs.
I don't really follow a "diet" but I do drink a shake every morning. Either a scoop of Muscle Milk in skim milk or a RTD Muscle Milk Light. I only eat three times a day. I eat whatever for lunch and dinner just small portions. I still have a major sweet tooth so battling that is very hard. I'm going on vacation next week and plan on getting back to basics when I get back, eating only fish, chicken, fruits, and veggies (no sweets!). I can't say I will follow a diet because I have made this a lifestyle.
This surgery has been wonderful for me. The best decision I have ever made for myself. I am in love with shopping again. I bought bags of clothes last weekend and it felt great to just be able to pull something off the rack without worrying if it will fit or not. I bought a goal dress size 14. It's skin tight right now, but the fact that I could pull it down over these hips felt great.

Please do your homework before you shoot off your mouth about something of which you obviously haven't investigated... There is an entire industry built on medical "tourism" and those locations are not in the middle of crime ridden sections of countries... There are NUMEROUS people on this board that have had their surgeries South of the border with absolutely no problems...
