I read here to put turkey pepperoni in between 2 paper towels and microwave them for about 35 seconds. It makes them crunchy and I'm LOVING them with a Babybel cheese!! Mmmmmm....
Also big, blue cheese stuffed olives.< /p>

Ok, hope I'm not stepping on any toes...like I said this is NOT my recipe....someone else posted it here...I just can't find it here now...here goes:
Protein balls
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 1/2 cups Protein Powder (I used chocolate)
1 cup Peanut Butter (I used crunchy Skippy)
Handful of dried fruit (I used cranberries)
Dash of SF Torani Syrup (to taste)
Splenda (I used 3 packets)
Mix the glob together with a little Water until you get a consistency to roll into balls. Roll into balls a little smaller than golf balls and freeze. Take them out and defrost when you plan to eat. They're good frozen and defrosted.
Yum!

This is delicious.
1 cup Greek yogurt
2 tbsp Cajun or spicy mustard
2-4 tsp capers
Dill
4 fish filets
Lay out fish in 13x9 casserole dish. Sprinkle with dill to your liking. Mix yogurt, mustard, and capers. Spread over fish. Bake in oven on 350 for 14-18 minutes until flaky. I serve this over angel hair Pasta and with asparagus or broccoli. The veggies are delicious with the sauce that this creates.

JustSayMoe reacted to TheGamer in PB2...dry peanut butter
Compare the nutritional facts of PB2 to normal Peanut Butter and you'll understand why people substitute it in. Carb is not a dirty word, honestly. Too many and the wrong kinds of carbs are, but carbs are a normal part of healthy eating.

JustSayMoe reacted to Fiddleman in red lobster? what to eat?
We just stopped in red lobster to look at the menu. We ended up going across the street to Olive Garden. At Red Lobster, any of the grilled salmons or shrimps would be good. There are quite a few options. At Olive Garden, I like the new Italian Small Plates part of the menu. Perfect size in order to eat without packing leftovers and only 5 dollars! Can you believe it?

Shrimp cocktail, it's always a best bet.

If you feel you have to have the Pasta try spaghetti squash.. It has about the same texture and is a veggie.

Carbs aren't the thing to avoid. As a matter of fact, you will find me on here advocating NOT doing a low carb diet for sleevers. But that is a post for another day. The issue with spaghetti at this point is it is an expander. Within the first 6 weeks, you are still at risk for a leak. The staple line has not scarred over yet. Starchy foods typically (not all) are expanders. Rice, Pasta, breads, crackers and the like. You get full on them and they expand in your stomach. The stretchy part of the stomach has been removed, so you begin putting pressue on the staple line, potentially causing a leak.
I'm not saying this is going to happen to you or happen all of the time, but I know for me and for most of the folks on this board, they were advised to avoid these types of foods early out for these reasons.

A better choice for a new sleever is something like Egg Face's Ricotta Bake. It has all the flavor of lasagna without any Pasta and it's soft enough for the puree stage. PDX is right that pasta, bread and rice expand to an uncomfortable level in our tummies. I still don't eat rice at all, and very little bread or pasta simply because all three make my tummy hurt. At most, I'll have one small tortilla or one piece of bread, but I always have to wait extra time afterwards before I drink Water so that they don't absorb the water and make me hurt.

JustSayMoe reacted to MyGoodThang in FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
I was sleeved yesterday. I'm down 20 pounds from preop. The gas pains were horrible when I first woke in recovery but since then it hasn't been too bad. I've had a c-section so it's kinda like I'm reliving that experience. Lol

I'm doing so much better today! After coming out of recovery and getting to my room I was absolutely miserable. The gas pain was unbearable, but it's gotten better each day. Hope everyone else is doing well!

JustSayMoe reacted to brooked in Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!
Yesterday was the day for me. I've officially been sleeved for 24 hours now. I had some gas pains at first but once I burped a few time it went away. Until then the heating pad really did help. I dont have a pain pump. Instead I have 2 soaker hose type things that are implanted down both sides of my belly that slowly release pain meds. The left side is working better than the right but still all in all the pain is not that bad. Easily controlled by the Tylenol with codeine I'm taking. I've only been able to get down about about 20-25 ounces of Protein Shake, Jello, and broth in the last 24 hours. I can definitely feel it going down. It's a weird sensation. I hope all my fellow 19th sleevers are doing well. See you on the losers bench!
