Dr. Alvarez August Sleevers
Hi, Susie, Poor girl! I know it has to be exhausting to be working and feel worn out. Our bodies just want us to rest while we heal. Hope that the reflux gets better quickly. What does Dr. A have you taking for that? How much longer are you on clears? have you moved on to the next phase? It has to be better once we introduce smooshy foods, At least the stomach has something to process. I hope that you have a really good weekend. Try to rest some if you can

Dr. Alvarez August Sleevers
Hi. Ladies. Surgery is scheduled for Aug. 2 with Dr. A. My name is Joyce. I am from Missouri. My husband, Mark, is my traveling companion and we will fly from Kansas City to San Antonio and get a ride from Rosie to Eagle Pass. Glad that you mentioned tipping, as I would not have thought about that. I will make up some thank you cards before we head out for surgery. I started my pre-op a couple of days back but I have eaten something for dinner the past 2 nights. I am only required a 10 day all liquids diet, so I figure that replacing most meals with liquids or a protein shake for extra days can't hurt. Starting the 23, I am total liquids. I ate yogurt last night only to check later and it is not on the list for pre-op. I bought some thinking that is was OK. I have been doing well so far though. The hunger is not bad at all. I look forward to chatting with each of you as we prepare and get past the surgery. I believe this is going to be the best thing that I could ever do for myself.

1St Day Of Liquid Diet
My first pre op day was today (surgery 8/02) did pretty well until dinner and my blood sugar was on a downhill spiral so I made scrambled eggs. I figure that is better than other choices. I plan to get some mini juice containers that have sugar in case it happens again.

I live SE of KC in Pleasant Hill. Very familiar with Joplin area, our daughter went MSSU four 4 years and lived in Joplin and Webb City during that time. I personally have not been down since the tornado. My daughter graduated the day before it hit. We were having her grad party when that happened. So very scarey and sad!!

What Does This Surgery Do To Relationships?
This is so sad to read, I feel the pain that you are in right now. I have been married almost 30 years, we did survive infidelity but it took years to heal the hole that it left in our lives. His blaming you is wrong on so many levels. He needs to take the responsibilty for his actions and not try blaming you. I understand not wanting to divorce because of your daughter. You are in my prayers, because it takes a lot of those to heal the mess this has created. I wish you the best. Take one day at a time sweetie.

Up And Down, Up And Down Emotions
Think happy thoughts...it really does make things better my momma always looked on the bright side of a bad situation. Thankful for her wisdom now as I get ready to go through one of the biggest things I will ever face in life. Praying for all of us because I know we need it tonight.

Up And Down, Up And Down Emotions
I too, understand these emotions all too well. I have to start full liquids on the 23rd and I am making myself go to 2 protein drinks per day and one protein/ veggie meal starting on Monday. Not looking forward to this part, it will be easier after surgery to not want to eat, at least for the first few weeks. I think we all have an emotional attachment to food or we would not be in the place where we need this surgery. I love sweets and carbs and have been eating way too many of them as my surgery date approaches. I know that I will be able to eat them again one day but I really want to learn to dislike them. I pray that happens for me after I am sleeved. The truth is, we can do this, we are strong women, we just have to put on our big girl panties and make it through one day, then onto the next. Just keep your eyes on the goal of making yourself thin and healthy. I am preaching to myself here, so please do not think that I am not being understanding. I am 54, it has taken me a long time to get to this place in life. I want to be healthier than I am now, I have to do this to get there. I want to be a healthy and active Grandma for grand babies that are not born yet. I want to be free of taking medicines and without joint pain. We all have reasons that we have to focus on so the next few days won't seem so bad. If any of you ever need to talk just PM me for my phone #. I know we can be encouraging to each other over the next few weeks.

What Doctor?
I chose Dr. Alvarez at www.endobariatrics.com and have surgery with him on Aug.2 You have to do your own research and go with your gut feeling about the Dr. that you choose. I have spoken to people that have been sleeved by this Dr. and I have done a lot of research on him and his credentials. For me, he is closer to where I live so my journey home will be shorter and I did not feel comfortable traveling into Tijuana for surgery. I also wanted to stay in a hospital for my care after surgery, not a recovery house. That and the fact that he is a top notch surgeon and has very great feedback from former patients. I had to look at other things besides the cost of the surgery. Everyone has personal reasons for whom they choose. I have nothing bad to say about any Dr. in MX because I have no reason to. I can only tell you why I chose the surgeon that I chose. Best of luck with your decision !
