Tired Of Trying
Susie Aren't you being sleeved by Dr. Alvarez? He also has a private Facebook group that you can join. It is smaller and people there usually respond to post or questions pretty quickly. Sometimes he posts on there too. If you are on FB, friend me, Joyce Yager, and I will try to figure out how to add you I don't get on here very much and it is usually late at night on my phone while I am trying to wind down. I don't reply to many posts as I am new here and still waiting to be sleeved (8/02)!

First Week Update
You are doing so well! I also take metformin, glyburide, blood pressure and high cholesterol meds and cannot wait until I no longer have to take them. I had to get refills tonight on my diabetes meds but I only bought one that I am out of totally. I have some back stock of the rest and they will all last till my surgery is done on 8/02. Maybe I will never have to fill the prescriptions again. Good luck to you on your journey. Don't over do it this week

Anyone Getting Their Sleeves In July Or August?
Time will go by quickly and we will begin a new way of living Much luck to you in the before surgery "mind prep" phase, that is where I am at now. My passport arrived in about 3 weeks when I got mine. My friend got one not long ago and it came back in less time than that. You should be fine to get it in plenty of time.

My Hubby Doesn't Support Me Spending $15K For Surgery
I agree with checking out the cost of having it done in Mexico, I am self pay and chose to go there because of the all inclusive cost. You have to do what you have to do BUT it is less expensive to go south of the border. I chose Dr. Alvarez for personal reasons, he is more expensive but I know he is the right surgeon for me. Do some research and follow your heart.

Finally Made The Decision To Have Vsg
I am Joyce, from Pleasant Hill, MO ( near Kansas City ). I just turned 54 and finally have saved enough money, raised my two children ( now living on their own) and finally decided to do this just for ME. I have dieted on and off for almost 30 years, have been diabetic for almost 14 years and now starting to have joint pain issues. It is time for me to take control before things get worse. I have been married to a wonderful man for almost 30 years and he is my biggest supporter. I am self-pay, thanks to my wonderful insurance company, so I have chosen to have my surgery in Mexico by Dr. Alvarez. My husband will be making the trip with me there for my surgery. Sometimes I wonder why I have waited so long to do this but I know that I am doing it now, at the right time. I am hoping to have the best quality of life as I get older and this will give me a much better chance at reaching that goal. I am so glad that I found this board. I read it every day and I am learning so much from all of you. This is not something that you can go through alone, you need advice from others that have been-there-done- that. My husband and I own our own music based sales business, so I will be able to have the chance to rest and not work the days after surgery if I need to. kind of looking forward to that If any of you are being sleeved about the same time OR if you live in the area close to me, I would live to talk with you. I found out yesterday that my niece is having the sleeve done 8 days before me ! Have a family sleeve buddy now!

I feel great about my choice of surgeons and look forward to the big day, the day my life with start again.

How Do I Get Protien When I Have To Drink Clear Liquids For 2 Weeks Post Op?
Do you have to order these from several different companies or is there someplace that you can purchase a variety of brands? I have about 5 weeks until my surgery so I need to get items on hand for when I get home. I live in a small town with no place to buy anything I will need after surgery.

Is "12" Days Enough
I have to do 10 day liquid diet before surgery but I may do it a bit longer, if I can get myself psyched up for it!
