  1. I find Hot Yoga a very effective workout, it raises my heart rate. I huff and puff all the way through. Post op be certain to water load before and after a hot yoga session
  2. Great job Queen. Welcome back to VST. There is now a Veteran's forum that you may like.
  3. Ordered a box of mixed berry blissllast night using the code. :-)
  4. I do! Been over 200 for 20 years.
  5. My favorite: tall steamed nonfat milk with Sf cinnamon dolce. Yum!
  6. Dry fish and refried beans. I find Morning Star Farms sausage patties are heavy too. They go down better when I keep them moist during cooking.
  7. I don't cook. Eat lots of sliced low sodium chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese, apple sauce, quest bars, nuts, etc.
  8. Got asked to repost this recipie: 16 oz. nonfat cottage cheese 1 package sf instant pudding 1 scoop Protein powder 4 tbsp skim milk 12 oz. container sf Cool Whip Combine all ingredients till smooth in food processor or blender. Add more milk for a looser consistency.
  9. Have you tried Beyond Meat?18g protein/serving and the ingredients aren't scary. http://www.beyondmeat.com/products/grilled/ May help bridge the protein gap.
  10. That was the cause of my itching, the adhesive from the steri strips.
  11. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Good luck.
  12. Good job on you loss do far! I worry about this too. I get diet fatigue and give up ( that's how I got to 263!). When I have been most successful is when I have accountability and support. Are you going to support group meetings? If not, join one or start one. Are you meeting with a NUT? Don't have one? Join weight watchers or Curves ( they have a nutrition program). You won't follow all of their food guidelines but of you explain your dietary guideline to them, you can still turn in your food logs and weigh ins will keep you accountable. You can do this. Let us know how it goes!!
  13. I agree, check with doctor but hopefully it is just the swelling and sleevy not agreeing with some foods. I still have trouble with refried beans, too heavy for sleevy and I'm a few months out. I also have pain when I eat too much and or too fast.
  14. Carbs make me hungry. The breakfast you described was a carb load. Nothing wrong with eating these things if they are your doctor's list of approved foods but I find I get better restriction from foods like cottage cheese. It is lower in carbs, higher in protien and I can only eat two- three ounces. When I wanted sweet, I made protien pudding (I've posted it in the past so you can do a search) it's basically SF cool whip, cottage cheese and SF pudding mix all whizzed together. You will find each food hit you differenly. For example I have been able to eat an entire Dannon Greek yogurt (5.3oz) from very early out. Don't fret, you'll do great.
  15. Aside from the age difference (your a lot younger than me)- you and I have a lot in common! I'm African-American and just under 5'4". You just described my body type completely- booty and all! Dressing for my shape is critical. Cuts that are more flatting to our shape include: jackets that end at or slightly above the hips, same with shirts, we can wear longer tunic styles but then you may want them to be a bit looser and balanced out with a skinny jean or fitted pant. Empire waist dresses are our friend. They emphasize the girls up top and skim the hips on bottom. If your waist is well-defined, belted dresses can also work well just pick wider belts and wear then at the natural waist. Belts right above your hips will only emphasize them. I have to be careful with skirts. Fitted (think pencil) or straight cut look better on me for two reasons: I'm short so I need a leg-line that flowy skirts don't offer and if I wore an A-line skirt that goes out from my hips, I look even wider. Calves, sigh. Yeah, I got a lot there too. Heels do help, you can try kitten or low heels and see if they are comfortable. I wear heels a lot because they give my calves a slimmer look but really I just wish they were smaller! I have worn maxi dresses and if I can find a way to cinch them in the back, some have ties in the back, then I can create some shape with them and I look better in them. I guess the synopsis of all these tips is: Highlight the good stuff, the girls, deemphasize the stuff you don't like hips/thighs, and find clothes that create that curvy silohoutte (sp) for you. PS- Booty is smaller as I've lost weight but definately not gone. I like the shape of it better now in clothes but I do have some sag when looking unclothed.
  16. Dr. Eslami is my Dr. The group is open to all though. :-)
  17. 20% long term failure rate?! Holy sh@t! Thanks for posting. I gotta figure out my portions when I travel!
  18. I wouldn't suggest booking an appointment with no intention to buy. While it is a free service, it is expected that you make at least one purchase. Otherwise the stores will start charging for this but the trade off is totally worth it. A quality item that you like plus style and fit tips from someone with a trained eye. There is no expectation that you buy everything. Also if you do take pictures be respectful of the environment. You will have to leave the dressing rooms. The last thing I would want is the lady next to me snapping away photos while I'm dressing and undressing.
  19. Love all the NSV everyone! A few of mine: not spilling over onto the person next to me on the airplane, lost a chin (still have a gobbler neck though), can wear high heels all day, down to a 14w was a 20 prior to surgery.
  20. Do you have steri strips still on? OMG that adhesive itched so bad! Rubbing alcohol helped remove the residue and calm the itch.
  21. About 3 weeks out I started seeing little changes, my initial loss was in my face and a few people commented on that- one less chin. It wasn't until a couple of weeks after that as the swelling went down that pre op pant were loose. Give it time.
  22. You look great! So excited to see someone with my stats!!! I started 10lbs above you date of surgery so I'm 10 lbs behind but looks like our rate of loss is similar. I'm 5'3" and 39 years old.
  23. I was sleeved 2/20 as well and apparently we are all in the same boat without an oar. I don't eat like I used to but I eat way more than most (I compare menus on My Fitness Pal). Frankly, I don't know how some people do it- 400 calories for an entire day?! I get in about 800 and could eat more if I didn't pay attention.
