  1. Thanks for the short cut, I've been going to the bottom of the board to see who was watchin me watchin them watch me!
  2. I went to my pcp today about the swollen neck and she said it was indeed a swollen gland, either the onset of a virus or an infection of sometype. Then again, I could just get the swollen gland and 2-3 weeks it could be gone without further ado, she also measured the gland which really impressed me. On another note, she was very impressed with my weight loss and quite excited about the surgery. Lisa it's sooo easy to eat too fast, I will still catch myself taking a big bite of something then right as it's going down, think OMG this is gonna hurt. Well ladies aren't we just the slimy ones, I just need to learn to be a better spitter without getting that chit all over me, LOL. My dh has dipped and spit for years, now he's grossed out by a little dribblin.
  3. I have found out first hand if you suck air in it seems to make it worse. For me, if it's gonna come back you get the foam stuff. It's amazing how easy it is to forget to chew chew chew chew something soft, then ya swallow and OMG is it gonna pop the band? Good Luck
  4. I had my first "real" fill last Wed. Yesterday, I had that yuky, foamy, pb two times, once after finishing my zone bar, which I had taken my time eating. When the zone bar came back, it was like grit mixed in mucus, (ex the graphics), then an hour later I took a tiny bite of a peeled apple, same thing happened. Then an hour later I ate pintos and cheese, no problems at all, then in evening I had bbq and roasted veggies, everything stayed down just fine. Was that weird or what? (It was so much of it I got a plastic cup and my dh thought I'd taken up dipping) The night before I had a few peanuts and the same kind of pb happened. I'm just wondering if maybe a peanut was still stuck. Thank goodness it was coming from the chest and not the lower stomach. Then I weighed today and I'm only down 1 lb, talk about a downer....errrrr I thought I'd had a loosing week. One more stmt/question, has anyone after pbing like that had their throat or neck ache. Last night the right side of my neck and face felt really strange, then this am my face on the right side is sore and swollen. Any thoughts on that? Gee it could just be a swollen gland, I'm so silly. Happy loosing everyone.
  5. There's Marie always to the rescue. When I was first married, 36 years ago, I use to pack my dh lunch each day and he loved egg salad, we must a been married 5 years before I found out you make egg salad with boiled eggs, NOT scrambled eggs. Egg salad (boiled eggs) has been my Protein filler, along with my pintos and cheese from Taco Bell, obviously, a cook I'm not. I take a soft taco supreme and dump the inside in with the Beans and cheese, soooo good. Since my band, this has been my favorite meal, especially after my fill. Good Luck
  6. Good Luck Lauren, I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am, but I was the first and then it was over....nothing to it! Enjoy the beginning of a new you.
  7. I don't miss those days, the day before or the 14 that followed. I was only on clear liquids the day before surgery, yea! Then liquids, (what ever I could get through a straw) the next 14 days. Thank goodness for the mushy stage. I had creamed soups and if in doubt, add a little liquid and run it through a blender. I'm so glad my doctor wasn't set on "clear" liquids. Good Luck.

Husband shopping for a gift... A husband walks into Victoria's Secret to purchase some sheer lingerie for his wife. He is shown several possibilities that range from $250 to $500 in price, the more sheer, the higher the price. He opts for the most sheer item, pays the $500 and takes the lingerie home. He presents it to his wife and asks her to go upstairs, put it on and model it for him. Upstairs, the wife thinks, "I have an idea. It's so sheer that it might as well be nothing. I won't put it on, do the modeling naked, return it tomorrow and keep the $500 refund for myself." So she appears naked on the balcony and strikes a pose. The husband says, "Good Lord! You'd think that for $500, they'd at least Iron it!" He never heard the shot. Funeral services are pending.
  9. Ryan and Patty, I'm so sorry to hear of your ordeal. I had a very short term and minor back injury many years ago which gave me a new respect for anyone suffering from back pain. Patty you're fortunate to have such a caring and loving husband to help see you through this. Ryan, you're such a hero!
  10. My doctor suggested Tuna with real mayo. I haven't attempted rice yet, kind of wasted calories to me, although Sushi is sounding real good. My favorite is probably mashed taters with a little grated cheese and fat free sour cream. Good Luck PS, that was quite an interesting website Nana~, except I don't do cottage cheese. Boiled tuna?
  11. I'd go for the $550.00 deal then you can bug the heck out of him. Hopefully you won't need 4 fills, but if you do, the 4th will be free. Go for the deal, two years, that's a deal, IMO.
  12. Congratulations Tracey, you're a true bandster now. It is scary to us newbies, I thought if I sucked air in it would help push it down, but it made it tighter and hurt more. Like I said this little band can certainly demand respect, then again when it's being slack, (hehe), you have to wonder if there's a band there. I just gulped my liquid Vitamins and got the stuck feeling. I've been at 22 lbs long enough, I'm ready to loose some weight.
  13. That's just the way it is when you've had it with your hair and you're on your way to get the mess cut off and your hair looks better than it has looked in weeks. Don't ya just hate that, then you don't know whether to get it cut or not.
  14. I want to see a pic of the ceramic iron. Will it work on ear length hair? Do you have to spray stuff on your hair to make sure it doesn't burn/fry? Must be nice not to have a bunch of chins. You look so perdy.

Betty that really makes common sense, although we know how uncle is. I paid for both of my sons to have that surgery, but since the account/records were in their name, being the patient, (they were 25 & 29), they got the deduction. It was worth it though, they both have been so happy with their wonderful new vision and no more fussing with contacts.
  18. I was starving today and ate some pintos and cheese. I ate too fast or too much, OMG, I thought is this going to pass! It seemed if I sucked air in it made it worse, it just had to pass on its own. Needless to say, I slowed down and somewhat lost my appetite, although I was still hungry. Does that make sense? I didn't pb, but I did get the slime, so I guess I'm definately filled and a bandster. I needed that respect for my band to return and boy did it get my attention. My office assistant thought I was having a heart attack, actually I wondered myself, LOL, (but it wasn't funny then). Now maybe I can start loosing again.

Grandmas & Grandkids An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. "You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles, she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful!" The boy looked up, "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why, just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles." The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles." ************************************** A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!" ************************************** My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo while I asked, "No, how are we alike?" "You're both old," he said. ********************************* When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandma," he advised. "Mine says I'm four." *********************************** A Sunday school class was studying the Ten Commandments. They were ready to discuss the last one. The teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it was. Susie raised her hand, stood tall, and quoted, "Thou shall not take the covers off thy neighbor's wife." *********************************** Our five-year-old son Mark couldn't wait to tell his friend about the movie we had watched on television, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." The scenes with the submarine and the giant octopus had kept him wide-eyed. In the middle of the telling, my husband interrupted Mark, "What caused the submarine to sink?" With a look of incredulity Mark replied, "Dad, it was the 20,000 leaks!!" *************************************** A second grader came home from school and said to her mother, "Mom, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The mother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting," she said. "How do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change "y" to "i" and add "es." (Why wouldn't an English teacher love that one? **************************************** " Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. Sure," said the young boy confidently. "It means carrying a child." ******************************************** A grandmother was surprised by her 7 year old grandson one morning. He had made her coffee. She drank what was the worst cup of coffee in her life. When she got to the bottom, there were three of those little green Army men in the cup. She said "Honey, what are these army men doing in my coffee?" Her grandson said, "Grandma, it says on TV, "The best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup!" *********************************** A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one youngster. "No," said another, "he's just for good luck" A third child brought the argument to a close..."They use the dogs", she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrant."
  20. Marie, I sure hope so, cause right now he's taking 2 crawls forward and 1 back.
  21. This article is from Zone, hopefully you will find useful too. Fish Facts 01/18/2005Carolyn Alish, PhD, RD, LD Okay, so you know you should be eating more fish. But what if you just aren't a fish person? Meaning, you don't know how to select a good piece of fish in the market, or how to prepare it so it's fun to eat. To help you along, here are some tips to take the fear out of buy, preparing and eating fish. Buying Fish WHOLE FISH: Look for one with red or pink gills and bring, clear eyes that are slightly protruding. Gray, sagging gills and sunken, pink and cloudy eyes are signs that the fish is anything but fresh. FILLETS OR STEAKS: Check their aroma before you buy: they shouldn't smell "fishy." Fish should smell like the ocean or a clean pond if it is from fresh Water. This goes for whole fish as well. FRESH OR FROZEN? The choice is yours. But be aware that breaded and seasoned fish has much more fat, calories and sodium than unbreaded and unseasoned frozen or fresh fish. Preparing Fish Baking rule-of-thumb: measure fish at the thickest part and bake 10 mins at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for every inch of thickness. To bake fish, lay it on a bed of thinly sliced or chopped vegetables such as onions, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, tomatoes or parsley. Top the fish with any seasonings that appeal to you. The fish won't stick to your baking dish, and it will taste delicious. Baking fish in milk (pour a small amount in the bottom of the baking dish) helps to remove some of the fishy taste. Eliminating Fish Odor Clean cutting boards and utensils with hot soap and water. You can also rub them with sliced lemon. To remove fish smell from your hands, pour some vinegar on your hands, rub them together and rinse well. Rubbing your hands with a lemon wedge or salt and water also works well. While the fish is cooking, simmer two tablespoons of vinegar in two cups of water, or, try simmering cinnamon, cloves and orange slices.
  22. Leatha that was a very caring reply and well put.
  23. Finally, :banana :banana , I tried to eat a bite of my zone bar this morning and it's sitting right in the middle of my chest. Finally a golf ball feeling. I was eating out of control, but this got my attention real fast. Yippee!!!!!
  24. Greg, you've got too much time on your hands, LOL, but keep em coming!
  25. Michelle, I got my card today, my doctor said he wanted me to have on, keep one at his office in my records and one at the hospital. Though he doesn't have the number on there yet, he has requested the information and will make sure it is all documented by my next fill. Wow what timing. It's called the "Lap-band system post-op patient packet" I even got a registration card with a free gift, either a pedometer with clock and stop watch, or a portable radio with clock and stop watch, once I complete the card and mail it back to Inamed Health.
