Help! I'm feeling so negative about my band!
Blossom, I have to admit, after I almost passed out getting my fill today, while I was recooperating, sipping my Water, I thought about you and the problems you've had finding the sweet spot. I may be the only person to ever get just 1 fill, LOL. Hopefully, tomorrow's the "sweet" day, good luck.

fills do they hurt

Serious second thoughts HELP!!!
Seppi, what I like about my band is NOT being on a diet, and making wiser food choices and having my band as a tool to help me. If I could make the right choices by myself I wouldn't have needed the band either. Everyone's different, I couldn't get my band soon enough. My first surgery date had to be changed by the doctor, and I had to wait an additional 3 weeks. I looked at that as 3 weeks I lost with my band. The morning of my surgery I drove myself to the hospital, (had to be there @ 5:30am), my hubby and mom arrived before surgery. My mom asked me right before I was being taken to surgery, "are you scared"? I told her no, that I have never felt more at ease about anything I've ever done for myself. I had a calm about me, I knew this was mean to be. Good Luck!

First fill coming up Thursday.
My first fill was today, my doctor did not have any food restrictions before the fill, but now I'm on liquids for 24 hours. My doctor did not use a topical or spray to numb the area, he used a needle to numb the area, I HATE NEEDLES, said it would feel like a bee sting, more like a swarm of killer bees. Then I could taste the stuff he was using to numb me.That made me sick on my stomach, got all hot and clammy, thought for sure I was gonna pass out. Of course I'm asking/telling him, did you read on lapband talk, this isn't suppose to hurt, it's suppose to be a breeze. The actual fill was only pressure, did I mention I hate needles. OK, I guess I'm a wuss, he put in .75cc, gave me water to sip, all went well from that point. Not only was I the first adj band for my doctor, I was his first fill. Good Luck

fills do they hurt
What's the name of that spray? I got my first fill today and almost passed out. I was expecting this topical solution, felt the alcohol swab, thought, humm that must be the topical stuff, NOT. Then he says, ok this will feel like a bee sting, just what I wanted to hear, then I get attacked by killer bees, and this burning starts. I asked how many bees, then that passed and I started getting this nasty taste in my mouth which made me sick to my stomach, then I started getting hot and clammy. Then they started fanning me, I felt like such a wuss. Then he did the fill. After I got my color back, I sat up and sipped some Water, then I was ok. BUT, I do want the name of that spray. The doctor said there was something you rub on, but it took 1/2 hr for it to take effect and it didn't work all that well. Needless to say, I will be telling him about this spray stuff. FYI, he started me with .75. I have had liquids tonight, but feel absolutely no difference than yesterday or before the fill. I expected to be super tight.

Support Groups - How is yours run???
Our meeting is held at the hospital with someone from the office speaking. Unfortunately, there is not a seperate meeting for bandsters and since I was the first to be banded by this doctor, there are not enough bandsters to "support" a group yet. I haven't been yet, suppose to go Wed, (2nd Wed of each month). I'm not excited because I don't like being grouped with the Gastro, rny patients and laproscopics, because I think we're a group of our own. That's why I'm so very glad I found this site and appreciate the direct as well as indirect guidance and support I've received here. Thanks everyone!

I Think I am Addicted to Sugar
Blossom, I'm confused, I thought you found out you don't have the 10cc. Zone bars work for me, 16 grms of Protein to boot, delicious. The chocolate tasting Calcium pieces are awesome too, and depending on age, you need up to 3 a day.

Menu Plans - Care to Share?
Nancy, if you have a Wawa's near you, they make the best egg, chicken and tuna salads. I buy it by the pound and then have with crackers. I like chili for a filling soup, lots of fiber too.

1st annual BANDSTOCK
That's a long way from the east coast, Betty, we could meet to my west and your east on the Harley's and ride in together, NOT. There'd have to be an airport and car rental place close by for me. Gee, all that money on airfare that could be going to new clothes, hummmmmm.

Betty's Pictures
Betty, the pics are awesome. I have the same "tassle" saddle bags and foot pegs on my bike, only my Harley is a softtail springer. The front end is sooo heavy, I grunt everytime I sit it up. Speaking of heavy, that jacket looks heavy too. My jacket with all the fringe is quite heavy. I've never worn chaps before, figured my f/a wouldn't fit into them. Ride Safe girlfriend.

Banded on Friday the 7th
My doctor told me anything that would go through a straw I could have, it's amazing what you can get through a straw those first two weeks. Good luck and congratulations on your new journey.

A few questions for the post-op stage
Coffee I sip, water I guzzle.

A few questions for the post-op stage
I couln't take but a sip of coffee after my surgery, but I can drink it fine now. My doctor never mentioned not drinking it. I do use the "lite" coffee. I will check with him Monday when I get my first fill. I had heard it was the caffeine that was the problem. I do miss my diet coke now and then.

Howdy from Puerto Rico!!!
I remember when I went to San Juan, I was expecting the beautiful beaches and sand, only to find beautiful water with lots of rocks. We stayed at the San Juan Hotel, and they did have a beach, it was awesome. Quite the photographer you are.

Just introducing myself - surgery 1/24
Congratulations on your band date. I'm with Greg, no more dieting, although there's still plenty of work ahead. Be kind to your band, it will soon be your new best friend. I just threw out enough diet pills to start a diet pill site. Gee I could have made a fortune on ebay. All those diet pills and miracle diet commercials, junk!

Help!!
Jack you just wait, I just hit that shocking no more restriction point. It happened over night. I was taking these tiny bites, now, 4-1/2 weeks post op, what happened? I kept reading where people were getting hungry and I kept thinking, gee I might not even need a fill, I'm still eating less than half of smaller portions, then the great band opened! I've never been so excited about having a needle injected into my tummy on Monday. This weekend will either be a heck of a challenge or I'll enjoy the heck out of what I haven't been able to eat for 4 weeks. Can you gain 20.5 lbs in 2 days?
