  1. I am pre-op and I occassionally take magnesium. I used to get really bad muscle spasm & cramps. So I take calcium & magnesium to prevent them. I'm actually concerned about that issue after I have surgery. I never want to feel those cramps again! OMG so painful!!
  2. Exactly how did you find out you went into remission? Lab tests? Did you continue your medicine after you were sleeved? I am DETERMINED to send this disease into remission!!

  11. Well, you can just say no nicely and inform them that you are on a strict diet that you must adhere too. Don't get into any particulars. If they ask what kind of diet you can say a diet that is high in protein and low in fat or something of that nature. Hopefully that will keep the noisy's out of your business !!
  12. Oh okay great. You scared me!! Hehe.
  13. Oh wow! Do gallstones hurt? How did you know you had them?
  14. Is it that you can't get the water down? Why don't you try crystal lite or unsweetened iced tea or something that is water with some flavor. Perhaps that'll help...? I think you definitely need to drink more water because dehydration is no joke. I've been hospitalized for it in the past... OOOOOoooooWeeee!!! It was bad. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Just keep sipping away!! If all else fails, you can contact your doctor and ask for their advice...!?
  15. How much water are you drinking? I think you need to drink drink drink!!!!!
  16. Oh No! I didn't tell me mom yet either. I don't play on telling her until Thanksgiving!!! I'll be forced too by then. lol. I hope she won't be too upset. Nevertheless, Good luck to you!!! You'll do great :) ~!!!!
  17. I don't believe the statement "if you can't follow your pre-op diet without cheating you can't do the surgery"...! First off we have to consider all of the factors surrounding the pre-op diet. Us patients are used to eating God knows however many calories per day which probably consists of fatty foods high in calories, sodium, sugar, etc. So, for a person who is used to eating lets say 2500 calories a day to go to 500 calories or less a day is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!! Yes, some people do have food issues which will cause them to overindulge. And yes, some people do have the willpower to complete the diet without cheating. But, the vast majority of individuals are going to go through periods of withdrawal and straight up hunger. You have to keep in mind that we still have our full stomach. We are not sleeved just yet. Therefore, you are NOT going to be satisfied with just eating 2 pieces of chicken breast/6packets of pudding/clear liquids for a two, three, or some of us are on four week pre-op diets. Let's get real here! The only thing you have to worry about post op is mentally preparing yourself for the small portion sizes. Other than that it, in my opinion, it should be much easier to not overindulge in food because you won't be hungry. Again, at post-op stage you will probably battle mental hunger...which for most of us that should be somewhat cured during the initial approval process anyway. After all, that is what the process is for...Not only to get us physically ready but also mentally ready to say to make the right decisions in regards diet & exercise. To Texarkolina, I am on a 8-10 day clear liquid diet. And although our diets are somewhat different it is hard. I'll be the first to admit that I cheated on day 3 of my diet. I cheated with a salad. But I still cheated. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he said it was fine. According to my surgeon, the last 4-5days before surgery are the most crucial. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just say to yourself you can do this and keep pushing!!! I know how you feel but IT WILL all work out for the best! Cheers to you !!!
  18. OMG!. I am pre-op but that doesn't sound normal to me. I think you should definitely go get checked out. Especially if your in pain...!
  19. I am on a clear liquid diet for pre-op. I read on here that someone had cream of wheat on there clear liquid diet. Cream of wheat and grits are in the same ballpark so I assume you can try that!?
  20. Amen!!!! How long did you have to stay in Mexico after the surgery? God always answers our prayers. I'm glad everything worked out for you!!
