Thank you! My job now is to get enough protein in daily.
-
Hi Joni,
I tried something and it worked! I have a liquid protein shake and I added a scoop of whey protein (26g of protein). Between the 5oz of shake and the one scoop, I am getting 34 proteins. I could not drink it all, but will sip on it until it is gone. Then at supper I will do that again. That will put me Over 60 gms a day! For now, while I am struggling to get 4oz at a time down, this may be my plan. Not sure how I will get all the water in though. I guess I will sip it when not sipping the protein cocktail LOL!

I am going to stay on the diet to a tee and see what my results are...right now I am healing and feeling very good about my decision. I hope all goes well with your surgery, and please let me know how you do!

thank you guys so much for responding. When you are going by the book to the tee and gain wt, especially on the clear diet, you start to get a bit worried that something is wrong. They should tell preop patients to expect a gain the first week, then they will lose. If they don't gain, good for them, but if they do then they would be prepared!

I think the trick is following all the rules, never cheating, and really have your psyche set before the surgery. The oddest thing did happen to me though because I was so anxious before surgery. I was great in the room, but the second they started wheeling me to the surgery room I started crying and didn't stop until they put me to sleep. I remember thinking "How could I have let food take over my life to the point of having to have surgery?" It was then I decided that food was no longer my master, the Lord God was and I would, from this day forward treat my body as He wanted me to. To all of those who have not yet been sleeved, please feel free to email me and I will answer your questions. I was an outpatient and it was fine (another concern of mine was why do insurance people get extra medical care and private pay people sent home).

Mine is Monday and everything is stressing. I know I am just worried about the surgery and pain, but this is crazy. I cannot find my cell phone and it is freaking me out...now...you need to know this about me, I am not a cell phone addict. I turn it on when it benefits me, but, I am upset and it is absolutely silly!
I have posted some pleas for help, but only a couple of people have responded to my questions and pleas. I feel alone.

I hope I am like you. Did you stay overnight? I am outpatient, so I do not get to stay the night.

I am a psychologist and I agree. There is absolutely no shame in seeking professional help. Support online is good for physcial symptoms, but if you are battling serious emotional problems you should seek help. Believe me, I know what you are going through.

That is GREAT

Bless you Diamond! Now, can you tell me about the pain after surgery?
-
Thank you! The trick is to stay very hydrated while on the liquid diet.
-
60-80 grams if protein.

I finally got rid of the headache. I drank a lot of fluids and took a Xanax for anxiety, that seemed to relax my neck, & shoulders, and gave me some relief.

I had caffeine withdrawal for the first three days, but this is day 11 of the liquid diet preop. I am hoping that it will be gone before Sunday when I do the all clear diet. How was your surgery experience?
-
It sounds like you are doing everything right! Congrats on the consistent weight loss. My surgery is May 7th, this coming Monday. It is so encouraging to hear people like you talk about your success in losing weight. So many on her say they are gaining weight or having all kinds of other problems. I am still happy to read their posts though, because who knows, I may be one of those people having problems too. I see your handle says you are a teacher! What a great example for your students. I am a college professor. Keep in touch!

Ghrelin is a hormone, it is not something that grows back. From what I understand, suffering from head hunger is real; however, I have not heard of anyone being really hungry that soon after the surgery. I know we may feel weak, which is a sign of hunger, but real hunger pains should not exist anymore. I will be interested in following your blog to see how you are doing. My surgery is on Monday, May 7th. My biggest fear is the pain from gas after the surgery. Did you have a hard time with the trapped gas?

Stephanie, Honestly I did not have much pain, and what I had they gave me so good meds for it. I did not have the gas pain that others talk about. I did great. AND honestly, I am not hungry...ever...Now, sometimes my stomach growls, but I am not hungry.
What I have been telling everyone is to follow the rules! If you are on a one or two week preop liquid diet, follow it! Go in with a positive attitude, and it really will help with your recovery. I know how scared you are, because I was a basket case before my surgery. Now I have to chuckle because my surgery was great, and I am private pay, which means I went to a hotel the night I had my surgery, and I did great! Now the first 24 hours is the hardest, but I found day 2 to be OK, and l slept 9 straight hours
