    Stalled

I have been stalled for two weeks (weeks 3 and 4). I am very discouraged. I am staying on the diet to the letter, and I am getting in all my proteins and fluids. I would really like to hear about others who are stalled, and who have been stalled. I would like to know how long your stalls were, and after the stall, how much wt. did you start losing? HELP
  2. I am two months out and having the Same Pain
  3. Hello Sleevers! Yesterday was 7 days post op and I had to go to my surgeon to have my staples out, which by the way I was dreading, but, it was not painful at all! Of course they weighed me. On May 8th, the day after surgery I weighed 192. Yesterday, Six days later, I had lost 12.3lbs! I am so excited! I do not know what the upcoming weeks will bring, but I am very happy with a 12.3 lost! I weighed 179.7, and I have not been in the 170's for a very long time! I wish all of you success in your weight loss. Down side, I am still tired. I am having problems getting in protein and I do not see how it is possible to get in 64 ou when I can only drink maybe 2-4 ou at a time, and that takes 30-45 min! I am going to do the best that I can, but man it is hard. I hope when I am on soft foods that this is not as much of a problem.
  4. I would be scared to death to eat two pieces of pizza!

Success Story At My One Week Weigh In

Stephanie, Honestly I did not have much pain, and what I had they gave me so good meds for it. I did not have the gas pain that others talk about. I did great. AND honestly, I am not hungry...ever...Now, sometimes my stomach growls, but I am not hungry. What I have been telling everyone is to follow the rules! If you are on a one or two week preop liquid diet, follow it! Go in with a positive attitude, and it really will help with your recovery. I know how scared you are, because I was a basket case before my surgery. Now I have to chuckle because my surgery was great, and I am private pay, which means I went to a hotel the night I had my surgery, and I did great! Now the first 24 hours is the hardest, but I found day 2 to be OK, and l slept 9 straight hours
  6. I was Sleeved yesterday and did GREAT! No nausea, little pain, no gas pain, only some slight pain in my left shoulder which my surgeon said is due to having the drainage tube next to my bronchial tube. Today I walked a LOT and feel GREAT. If anyone has any questions, please just ask. I am ready to share my experience.

Success Story At My One Week Weigh In

Thank you! My job now is to get enough protein in daily.
  8. Today is day 6 and I went back on my liquid diet. I am having a rough time getting down protein. I wonder at what week I will be able to successfully get in all my protein?
  9. Hi Joni, I tried something and it worked! I have a liquid protein shake and I added a scoop of whey protein (26g of protein). Between the 5oz of shake and the one scoop, I am getting 34 proteins. I could not drink it all, but will sip on it until it is gone. Then at supper I will do that again. That will put me Over 60 gms a day! For now, while I am struggling to get 4oz at a time down, this may be my plan. Not sure how I will get all the water in though. I guess I will sip it when not sipping the protein cocktail LOL!
  10. I have not lost a pound and I am 3 days out from surgery. I thought for sure that being on this clear liquid diet would help me drop the wt. My surgeon says it may be water wt from the surgery. Has Anyone else NOT lost wt the first few days after surgery? HELP

    Anyone Else 6 Days Postop

Today is actually my 5th day postop, but I am wondering how others are doing who are out about the same days as I am. I am doing well, some soreness, but doing well. I am walking 1/2 mile on the treadmill 4 times a day so that I am getting in 2 miles. I take my time though, no hurrying the recovery. Monday I get my staples out. Can anyone tell me if it hurts to have your staples out? I worry about the sillest things. Today I weighed and dropped 3 lbs from yesterday! I am very encouraged right now and hope I can keep this up for at least the first 6 months. My goal is to lose 80lbs by Christmas. I am determined to exercise and follow the rules to a tee. I think my surgery was a success because I did follow all of the rules, so it makes sense to continue this pattern. How is everyone else feeling? Today I was a little weaker than I have been, but, tomorrow which is day 6, I get my protein shakes and greek yogurt. I am very excited about trying the protein shakes but I am determined not to over do it. I don't know about you guys, but I really am afraid of adding calories. The clear liquid diet does not have very many calories, but you could get in trouble with the regular liquid diet if you drink too much of the protein shakes. Is anyone else having these fears?

    Mothers Day Matters

same question, what stage are you in? If you are on liquids do not eat ice cream. You will have plenty of time for ice cream later on.

    Numbers On The Scale

I am not liking your doctor at all! Have you thought of looking for a more supportive surgeon? My surgeon was stern in that he told me what my work would consist of, but he was compassionate and emapthic with every concern that I had. It seems to me if the band twisted that it may have been something that HE did wrong. It seems strange he is "punishing" you when it could have been all his fault!
  16. I don't know what hormone change you mean unless you are referring to Ghrelin and that is not a hormone that has an effect on emotions. Tell me what you have heard so I can research it. thanks, Vicki

    Numbers On The Scale

So you had a lapband and it twisted and you had it removed? You are now having the sleeve? I don't know why your doctor is stuck on a number. Seems like if you follow the diet that is all that should matter. Keep me posted on your success!

    Any May Sleevers Here?

Thank you shorty pants. I am doing very well, just a little tired today. How is everything going with you?
  19. Be careful those reading these posts not to take suggestions from here that your doctor does not recommend. For example, doing too much too soon can cause you problems. Some people may get by with driving the next day and walking for hours, but for the majority, it could cause a lot of complications. Be good to your body, you just put it through a very rough time.

    Worried :/

You will look and feel so much better, even with some extra skin, then not having the procedure and not losing wt. You are YOUNG..your skin is more likely to have elasticity, versus mine, at age 56. I envy your age for that reason. You will do great! Embrace this opportunity to become a healthy person who will be able to do the fun things you want to do now, but cannot do because of your weight. Focus on the positive...use imagery to see yourself thin and pretty!
  22. I am excited for you! I understand about it not feeling real. Honestly, I half expected myself to back up right to the point of getting on the operating table, but I didn't, and I am so glad! I am praying you have a good experience like I had...so praying for no nausea and no gas pain, and for a quick recovery. No matter how it hurts though, walk! Don't be afraid to ask for pain meds either. My surgeon said to make sure to ask for them or they won't give them to you. Ask and be as comfortable as you can. Hurting does not help anyone, mostly you! You will do great...think of how your life is going to change and what great times you have a head of you because you are making the decision to do something about your wt! Good for you! Vicki
