No Weight Loss Since Surgery
Well, at least we're in good company. I've only lost 7 lbs since surgery. I'll be two week post op. I've always been a slow loser. I have hypothyroidism and I think after all the years of yo-yo dieting my metabolism is screwed up. We have to start losing soon. It's a mathematical guarantee. Sometimes our bodies go kicking and screaming but, we'll get there. Keep doing what you're doing!

Looking For Suggestions On What To Take With Me To The Hospital.
There's an official what you will need thread under the pre-op forum with a pdf checklist. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/10081-the-official-what-you-will-need-for-your-gastric-sleeve-surgery-thread/ Definitely take a robe and pillow for coughing and the ride home to cushion your tummy. Good luck!

Eating Sensation Question
I haven't had the sleeve very long and I haven't started solid food yet but, so far, it doesn't feel like the band. I hated not being able to eat healthy food with the band (no chicken, no turkey, no salads/ veggies). I'm looking forward to getting those things again.

Nsv - Job Interview
Good luck. I bet it's nice to interview in a nice fitted suit. Last interview I went on I was busting out of it. I refused to buy a bigger size. LOL

Post Sleeve Diet
I'll be interested in what others have to say too. I had surgery right after you. I've been having different kinds of Soups. I really like the V8 SW corn and butternut squash. I've also had some Campbell's broccolli cheese, Progresso has a really good chicken enchilada (strain out all the chunks). It's very cheesy. I've also made homemade egg drop Soup. Yum! Other than that, I eat several sf popsicles. I also have yogurt in the a.m. Eggdrop soup: 2 cans of Chicken broth bring to a boil- reserve 1/3 of chicken broth. Whisk 2 eggs and 1 yolk, add to the boiling chicken broth, mix 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch into the reserved broth then add to the rest of the soup.

My Nosy Boss.....
I told my boss I was having my gallbladder removed. Some people take longer to recover an others. I don't think you have to tell HR what kind of surgery you're having. The doctor does have to complete the FLMA/ short term paperwork. Mine only listed the types of symptoms I was having weight gain, back pain, ... (very generic stuff). If you do end up saying something to HR they can not tell your boss or anyone else because of HIPAA regulations.

I Miss Gum!
Why can't we have it? Is it so the gum isn't swallowed and possibly get stuck? I quit smoking several years ago and still chew a lot of gum. I think it also helps with food cravings.

Self Pay Patients
I had my consult on 01/04/12 and had surgery on 02/09/12. I could have scheduled it earlier (about 2wks) but, I wanted to give my job plenty of notice and get things organized before I had the surgery. Plus, I needed time to "wrap my head around it". I had to get the nerve up to have the surgery. I'm a big baby.

I Am A Failure
I'm hungry and I wish I could eat regular food but, I'm to scared to cause damage to my sleeve. I don't want to risk any complications. Please don't put yourself at risk. We're worth it. It's only a couple of weeks.

Men Versus Women
That may be true. Let's see what the other guys have to say. I don't think I really had a regret phase and I think I'm recovering very well and rather quickly. It's almost like, hmm, are you sure you took majority of my stomach out feeling? I'm sore but that's about it. We all have different pain tolerances. I'm sure you'll do fine. Welcome to the board.

Food Smells Different.
I'm 9 days out. I agree my sense of smell is sharper. food still smells good but I can smell it from far away. Cigarette smoke makes me want to gag more then it did before the surgery. Weird.
