  1. I agree. You don't have to be done unless you want to be. Switch things up. Try a new exercise, change up the diet,...
  2. Sounds like you're doing great! I agree with increasing the protein though. Keep it up!
  3. What a sweet Valentine's story! Congratulations!
  4. Are you keeping a food diary? How many calories are you having per day? Have you talked to your surgeon? Any exercise? Even a 5 min walk is a start to build on.
  5. Please add me to the list. I was sleeved on 02/09/12 Dr Kennedy in Dallas. Doing really good except for coughing with causes severe pain. Picture the movie Alien. :biggrin5:
  6. I'm struggling with this too. I had surgery on 02/09/12. I understand further along we should have 2-4 oz per meal when we get to solids but does that count for purees too? It doesn't seem to be enough. I'm feeling pretty hungry. I am having quite a bit of acid reflux/ heartburn and I'm hoping that's what giving me that hungry feeling. Does it take awhile to get rid of the hunger hormone that's already in your stomach at the time of surgery?
  7. Glad you're doing good and painfree. You'll be out of there in no time.
  8. I went to two pharmacies and a couple of grocery stores. I finally asked at the 2nd pharmacy. They don't make it anymore. It must be very recent because I still had a little bit left in the last bottle I bought. Here's a link to their customer service if you want to tell them what you think about it. https://www.tylenol.com/vcrc/email/tyemailform.jhtml?id=email
  9. Congrats Victoria. I was sleeved on 02/09/12 too. Our stats are fairly close so it'll be interesting to see how we progress. I'm 5.5" and weighed 201 lbs (91.4 kgs) on the date of my surgery. We've lost about the same amount so far. I've lost 4 lbs ( 1.8kgs). I did have some other health conditions. I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and scared about getting diabetes. Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing.
  10. I've liked Vanilla Designer Whey for years. I add fruit to it, or add coffee for a frap flavor, sf chocolate, cinnamon for a eggnog type drink, banana, pumpkin... so many possibilities. I also use, water and ice with it to make smoothies.
  11. Eggface has receipes for making protein ice cream if you have an ice cream maker. It's good. It's nice to know where to get some quick in case of an "emergency".
  12. My husband too. I'm 3 days post op and he ate a big cookie frosting sandwich right next to me. He also got some breakfast cookie things ate them in front of me and told me how great they are. It was almost as if he's doing it on purpose for me to see all the stuff I can't have. He even asked if I was going to make him a big chocolate cake for Valentines day. Since I'm going to be off work and all. He's diabetic. He doesn't needed it either. We were trying to decide where to eat and he said he didn't want to eat Mexican. That's about the only resturant type I know I can get chicken broth soup. Most other resturants (that I know of) have thick cream type soups, cheese & broccoli, potato.. I'm sure they will all be great in a few more days/weeks. After I explained I can't eat creamy soups he finally agreed to go to a Mexican resturaunt. When at a big heavy door, I have to stand there and wait for him to open the door. Why doesn't he just automatically just open it for me?
  13. I have a whole notebook from the hospital and doesn't say anything about it in there.
  14. How soon after surgery is it ok to drive?
  15. MrsSweny please, please don't risk your health by jumping ahead of your diet. I know it's hard. I have head hunger too. Everything smells better. My husband bought this huge cookie frosting thing and ate it right next to me. You may not know if you'll react to the foods you've eaten yet. The liquid /mushy diet is to prevent the stomach from working to hard to digest food so that it can heal. I would think popcorn kerns could get stuck in the staples. I'm only 3 days post op so I'm definitely no pro but, I've read on here that the acid in the stomach makes us feel hungry soon after surgery. Many posters have said taking an anti-acid helps with the feelings of hunger. In the meantime go crazy with sf popicles and sf Jello. We'll get to eat real food soon. Get on here and type away to keep your hands and head busy. Don't risk complications. Take care. We're in this together.
  16. When I got the band I had been planning on getting a diamond band as my "reward". I got within 7lbs of my goal. I never got to goal and just started gaining almost to my band pre-op weigh. I revised to a sleeve on Thrus 02/09/12. I think I'm going to go ahead and get that diamond band as a reward for going through with the surgery. I think I deserve it! I was really scared. Afterall, I know I'll get to my goal with the sleeve and it'll serve as a reminder to follow the sleeve rules and that my sleeve won't fail me like the band did.
  17. Coughing again. Oh mother, this might be the worst part of the surgery yet. Hurts like hades! I hope there's no damage.
  18. I believe the risk for leaks / complications is 1-2%. I'd take those odds in Vegas any day. Of course, our health is nothing to gamble with. As someone else on here said, 1% isn't bad until it's you then it's a 100% (sorry I don't remember who said that) which is very true. I think it's a very personal decision, it's up to you to weigh the good against the risks. Do you have other health conditions that increase your risks for health problems in the future (diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea..) that shorten your life expectancy?. How about your general happiness? I'm miserable being overweight. I lost weight with the band and then gained it all back. I was within 7 lbs from my goal when I started gaining it back. I avoid friends and family. This gives me the motivation to exercise because I don't feel iike it's useless and wasting my time. I hate feeling like I can't comfortably tie my shoes. Forget about shaving my legs or bikini area. I hated wasting money on quick weightloss scams that never worked clothes in 10 different sizes. I'm rambling but, it's completely normal to be scared and have second thoughts. It is a major surgery. It has very real risks. I chose the one of the best surgeons I could find. It's a "Center of Excellence". I plan on following my Doctor's instructions to a T. I know my doctor has made every attempt to be cautious and avoid complications. Diagnostics, labwork, pre-op diet to "shrink" the stomach. In the end, I think all we can do is our homework, comply with our doctor's orders and pray.
  19. Ouch Punky. I'm sorry to hear that. I was having severe acid reflux since last night I'm sure it probably caused the acid-y irritation in my throat.
  20. I think my cough was more of a dry irritated cough. I even think the brusinig looks worse on one of my incisions. Maybe it's just my head messing with me. I hope so.
  21. I've had a couple of coughing fits today. It feels like I've busted a gut or God forbid popped a staple. I tried so hard to cough. It seems like that makes it much worse. I had a pillow on my abdomin but, I'm scared I may have caused damage. I'm sucking on SF cough drops now. Anyone else have this problem?
  22. Wow. I had surgery on 02/09/12. Does that include your pre-op diet weightloss?
