Crap!
sorry for the cursing.. but i think ima have to go back to the doctors..... i slipped and fell yesterday and i thought i was ok but all of a sudden im starting to have pain in the main incision where they removed the stomach.. so im sure that where the stapling is of the stomach as well.. and i am really hoping that i didn't rip open the staples but i definitely think i need to go get it checked out tomorrow, cuz i haven't had any complications really since i had the surgery... ive actually been pretty good since about a week out no pain at all and now all of a sudden after the fall i feel a little queasy and im having some sharp pains in my abdomine. dang it!!!!!

Will We Have To Sip Forever?
im only 13 days p.o and i can already take decent sized gulps without a problem so i would say you should be fine.. some people just take longer to adjust then others i assume. i know i shouldn't eat and drink at the same time.. but i randomly have lapses in my memory and forget im not supposed to do it and do it anyways.. lol and after a few sips i go ...oh crap.. lol let me put that drink down... funny part is there isn't any discomfort when i do it so i have to really pay attention. Anyways, im sure it will get better for you over time.

2 Weeks Out!
tomorrow will be officially 2 weeks p.o for me. and so far im doin pretty well.. i don't seem to have any issues other than a little incision pain and the fact that i slipped an fell yesterday.. lol.. but in regards to gettin in the required fluids now and handling full liquids im doin pretty well... I think the Vitamins will really help with the motivation and to be active .. my b-12 definately gives me energy to get up and get to the gym, but the other half is you have to mentally tell yourself to get up and do something. I don't know about you, but ive been stagnant so long that my body automatically wants to be lazy.. and then i go .. screw you.. im getting up and doing something.. ive been a fat lazy blob for toooo long and im not gonna let it run my life anymore. If you need motivation i will personally send you a message everyday to see if you have done something. I actually wanna start a fb for our little family so we can have more real time talk.

11 Days Post Op And Feeling Good
So I am 11 days post op and I feel really good. I can finally drink water without having that painful bubble feeling every time I take a sip. And I can finally get in about 50 oz. of fluid. I think the only complaint that I have is my incisions itch like crazy! Lol but if that is my only complaint.. I’ll take it. Moving on…. So I have been working out every day, doing free weights and cardio. Today I did ZUMBA… it was fun and kept me moving, but I think I pushed myself a little hard, cuz when I was done my tummy was a bit swollen…… I know I really need to take it easy.. It’s just really hard for me to do that because I’m such an athlete at heart that I just wanna get back into working out as hard as I used to. I NEED TO REMEMBER I JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY AND I NEED TO TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME! Well that’s all for now VST fam… hope everyone is doing well. Oh yea stats. Surgery day 12-12-11 Highest weight 270 Goal 250 Lbs. day of surgery 238.1 Current weight 227.2 I have dropped 2 pant sizes already

Drinking
i think everyone is different it really depends on how your body heals.. just listen to what it tells you cuz i can assure you if your body doesn't like you doing something it will let you know. you will feel a lot of pain and bloating. lol. Im actually less than 2 weeks out and i can already take large "gulps" of Water, but i honestly think its because my body responds differently to surgery than most since ive already had 4 knee surgeries, my body just knows what to expect and recovers accordingly. i mean 3 days ago i couldn't even tolerate water, now i have no issues at all. So again it really depends on where your body is at in the healing stage. take it slow at first and when you don't get that bubble feeling or pain when you sip then you know you can do a little more.

Need Some Help. What Did You Do With Very Slow Losses?
i haven't been sleeved long but i am a natural athlete so i can help you see more of a difference.. to start with you can get more Protein in your diet than just eatting meat/ fish, their are a lot of protein in eggs, Beans, tofu, nuts, as well as just getting in a Protein shake for the extra. Also, if you have been exercising lot, doing free weights or even just cardio you will be building lean muscle and as you do that and you lose fat, you have to understand that you might even gain weight.. muscle is much more dense than fat, which in return means it weighs more. So that might be why you havent seen a drastic reduction in weight. I normally say pay attention to how your close fit, even if you don't see a drop on the scale notice if things are tighter or looser. i hope that helps a little. good luck and don't get discourged this early in the game. you will continue to lose. and just like daisy said if you started with a lower bmi, then you will lose at a slower rate than someone with a higher one, since they have more fat to lose.

Ok, This Probably Sounds Weird
you and i had surgery the same day... its nice to know where someone stands.. if that makes sense because i can relate to you.. I am the same way.. i have no problems just taking a gulp.. it doesn't really hurt ... now if its Water for whatever reason that seems to hurt.. but i can drink Soup or Protein shake and be fine.. in fact i just ate a thing of Jello and i think i did it in 10 min. I don't actually think that im gonna mess with my staple line, i think what another person told me might be true.. we might heal faster than most people so our bodies can just handle it. because your body has a natural way of telling you that something isn't right.. either pain, nausea, vomitting, etc. and none of the above is happening so i think your body can handle it.. im not saying go crazy and just pound it but i think a few gulps isn't gonna kill you. just try and be mindful of how much and how quickly, cuz from what i gather from other people is if your body really doesn't like it.. if you put to much in your pouch to quickly ... you will puke it back up.. is what seems to be the concensus.

Hey, All You December Sleevers...
Congrats lisa, Your gonna be fine.. i just got my sleeve 12-12-11 so im pretty new to this loser game too.. lol.. but i find that having a community of people that know exactly what you are going thru is the best help anyone could get. My experience i live in sac and my surgery was in richmond its about 1hr 45min drive.. that was the hardest part about leaving the hospital.. your in pain and driving that long really really sucks.. lol.. In the hospital wasn't too bad i think everyone has there moments but for the most part the only thing that really bothered me was the gas. It was terrible cause i couldn't burp but as long as you make sure to get up and walk every few hrs you will be ok. i couldn't take any pain meds while i was there because they just made me nauseous, but to be honest i wasn't in that much pain, it could be because im just used to having surgeries, but it really wasn't that bad. I was able to leave the next day as planned but be careful cuz if you can't pee on your own or handle drinking fluids they wont let you go home. I couldn't pee on my own at first, but that was because they pumped me full of pain meds.. lol. kinda a catch 22 but whatever. the first couple of days back the gas was really the only thing that i have to complain about no pain other than that. I tried the gas x which kinda helped but not really i just had to keep moving and try to disperse the gas that way.. now i can have it come out the other end.. lol i know kinda grosse but you do what you gotta do. and now 8 days in the pain is gone most of the gas is gone and the only real problem i have now is drinking the required liquids that i need to. and because i heal a lot faster than most my body already wants to move to the puree phase. Anyways sorry that was so long.. but really good luck to you im sure you will do fine and if you have any questions there will always be some one here that wont mind answering.

New To Vertical Sleeve Forum
congrats on taking the first step.. i did a lot of research before i decided to get the surgery and what i found was amazing. I would definitely recommend you read up on all your options before you make a decision, but im sure you will realize that the sleeve is well worth it. I Need Help
oh i had another question... before i used to always run pretty hot.. infact i would just sweat sometimes because i would be so warm.. and now im freezing and i know a little about the bodys physics but even tho i am taking the iron supplement it doesn't seem to be helping.. what can i do?

I Need Help
yea its definitely weird that just plain old water is what causes the most discomfort... and since i guess what i had was a hiatal hernia of my esophogus i can't burp to help with the discomfort of the gas bubble.. i have found that i can eat the popsicles, but i also seem to handle water better if i use crystal light with it. and i can drink protein shakes.. i normally get this one called muscle milk its actually really delicious and it has no dairy. and lots of vitamins and about 25mg of protein per shake.

I Need Help
thank you guys i will be more mindful of my tummy.. and honestly i think your a right on the healing thing diva.. My body is very used to having surgeries.. ive had 4 knee surgeries so i think in general i just heal a lot faster than most which is probably why i intuitvely want to press forward, but i know i shouldn't and i wont till i talk to my nut. I guess this is where i really need to have some will power because i do not want an infection or any complications just because i was being stupid. .... moment of weakness, lapse in judgement what ever you wanna call it.. i just need to stop. And jane i will try the temp stuff.. cuz i have found that the warmer the liquid the easier it is.. but just plain Water messes with me bad.. i hear a lot of people say its because of the pH something like that. but lately it is getting harder for me to get in my Fluid .. i think im at about 25oz right now which i know is not good since we are supposed to be on 64 oz... i heard that we can eat sugar free popsicles? does that count as liquid?
