  1. I take spin and step aerobics classes which targets the hamstring, quads and glutes muscles. In addition, In do step ups (step up and down) on a high bench, squats, and lunges (side/back and front). I do about 3 sets and 15 reps each session. I do notice a major difference. Good luck to you.
  2. You go girl, I feel the same way no more hiding for me. Self-confidence is a good thing and I'm glad I found it with my GS.
  3. Hello Mztilady and welcome to the forum. This is the best site for all things GS, the people are non-judgemental and they will share their knowledge and opinion. Don't hesitate to post a question, we are happy to share. Good luck on your journey to get healthy.
  4. Check out the recipe section in the main forum. I live on my wendy's chili knockoff version. I make a big pot at least once a month and eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner sometimes. For Breakfast I may eat it with eggs for lunch, I add cheese to it and for dinner I may bake a small potatoe and add the chili and sourcream to it.
  5. Hi D, to preare myself I did a lot of reading and research on the GS. I also made lists of what I should take to the hospital, what foods I need to buy the type of protien shakes that taste the best, how much wt I should lose in one month. What new utinsels I would need (smaler plate, baby spoon and a shot glass to sip, sip, sip the first month after surgery, etc. I also made the decision to no longer overeat and to eat when I am truly hungry. Finally, I went to a support group meeting in my local area (because it was mandatory) I learned some new info and I found out that the face to face group format was not for me. I much rather search for info and support on this site. Good luck to you .
  6. Welcome Carla, nice to have you on board. Looking forward to reading your posts.
  7. If it works for you and motivates you then I say go for it. I am skeptical though so I will keep taking my step aerobic classes, doing my lunges and squats and take spin classes to tighten and get rid of my fat.
  8. Why, that is 27 lbs gone forever. I too workout daily and find that I must constantly fuel my body and eat throughout the day. I also try to drink a protien shake or cheese right after working out. I purchased one of those plastic shake bottles with the wire mesh mixer and take my protien shake and cheese with me to the gym so I can drink it right after my workout. Hang in there you are doing great.
  9. Good for you and it happend so fast!!!!! It looks like we are both on track together I started at 250 and now at 184 in 4 months. I was so happy to fit in my new swimsuit in the photo, I didn't know what to do with myself. Keep up the great work, normal bodyfat here we come.
  10. Hey Shain, What are you doing here this is the ladies room GET OUT!!!!! Love your comment .
  11. I'm sending prayers your way and wish you speedy recovery. I can't wait to read your first post after surgery and don't forget to sip, sip, sip and walk as soon as you can to get rid of that gas...
  12. Cleo you are turning this into a political discusson so I am out....I support and defend my country against all enemies foreign and domestic and will continue to advocate that it dosent mattter if we have a democrat or republican in the white house.
  13. Girl, star taking those pictures because you look FABULOUS!!!! I felt the same way until I got my new I-phone now I am a picture taking queen. All smiles here with my wt loss. My hubby said I've never seen so many pictures of you in my phone. Here are my poses in my phone.
  14. I read a lot of negatives on the malabsorbtion issue with (Rny and gastric bypass) and I did not like the fact that my plumbing/intestines were going to be forever rerouted and changed so that I could not absorb certain nutrients. When I read about night blindness and having issues with nutrition, the sleeve won.
  15. This is why I love this site because we can agree to disagree. I believe that there is nothing wrong with serving in any military branch, yesterday, today and tomorrow and some believe that one should never serve or should not serve in today's military. To each his or her own right and my you make the best choice for you. Good luck to you however you serve because you are in a good profession.
  16. Congratulations, keep it up your look amazing. My legs is my problem area also.
  17. They used my seminar WT, which was the first time I steped on the scale in the hospital.
  18. Heck yeah, think about the Army, go Army Beat Navy. The VA needs nurses and so does the Army so your dream of serving in the military is still possible. Hooahhhhh.
  19. Hi, Newbeeee welcome aboard and glad to have you here.
  20. Ji Jennifer, welcome and glad to have you here...
  21. I would check and ask the nurse in charge of the program if you must be 40% BF and above and if you fall below that will you still qualify. I also had treatment at a Military Hospital and can't imagine that once you start the program if you lose a little wt you can't get the surgery. Most physicians want you to start losing wt and get healthy ASAP. Civilian hospitals however are different. Once you know the answer for sure, I would start a good walking/exercise program because recovery will be easier if you are more fit.
  22. Really, I look at it as a good sign. Nothing negitave about slimming down and no longer having fat fingers and toes. Happy losing and you can always get it resized at a jewelery shop when you find it.
  23. Now I see why some people go to Mexico for surgery. Our US prices are outrageousl
  24. Hi there, first of all there are a lot of "I call them HATERS" mainly because WLS is misunderstood and people think it is the easy way out. Join the club, I would say that 99% of us who decided to have drastic surgery tried all the ways to lose WT. Many of us lost and gained the same 50-100 lbs over and over again. I recommend for you to be careful who you tell, because people will have a lot to say, some will be supportive and some will not. Some people like to tell the world about their procedure in order to help others, reduce the stigma, etc. However, me personally I only told a few close people, this is my medical procedure and my business and I will tell you if I know you on a personal level. Good luck to you.
  25. You should bring your protien with you in a small plastic bag and you can buy one of those protien shakers with the wire mesh inside. You may also want to stop by a supermarket and buy some string cheese and some roast beef or turkey to make cheese wraps. There is a 7-11 store on the strip and you can always pick up a small can of microwaveable chili or soup there is a microwave on site. Have fun, I will vacation there for 3 weeks in July.
