  1. Wow, sounds like your doing great! Can't believe you down 60 lbs already!
  2. Wonderful for you and your wife! Congrats on 40 years!!!
  3. Agreed. The waiting period takes forever. Hang in there.
  4. This site is a great resource. The people are so genuine and honest. I was considering the band at first too but after meeting with my surgeon and reading this board I am convinced the sleeve is the right choice for me. I just finished up my 6 month diet. It seemed to take forever. Reading this board really helped me during that weighing period. Good luck!
  5. That is awesome! I suffered from the same thing due to PCOS. I'm excited for you!
  6. I was just wondering how long in took you to lose 50 lbs after surgery. I realize everyone is different but I was wondering what the average time frame is after surgery for the first 50 lbs to melt away. I'm sure this also varies due to exercise habits. Thanks for the feedback.
  7. So the scheduler called today to said she received all my clearances for surgery. She then said the doc has three other complicated surgeries scheduled on 3/19 so they bumped me from 3/19 to 3/21. A little disappointed but I'd rather not have a tired surgeon at the end of the day so I'm going in at 5:30 am on 3/21. I have my Post-Op nutrition class on Monday, 3/12 for 2 hours. Then pre-op consult with the surgery on Friday, 3/16. Moving right along!!! Any one else on 3/21?
  8. These recipes sound awesome. Keep them coming! Just ordered my tagine!
  9. You're not alone. I gained about 25 lbs during my 6 month supervised "diet". I wasn't trying to lose though. I had a BMI of 38 and no co-morbidities. My insurance requires 35 or higher with co-morbidities or BMI >40 with no additional co-morbidities. So I got my BMI up to 43. Welcome to the board!
  10. I'm sorry your husband isn't being very supportive. It's really awful of him to say such things to your children. i agree with topgun comment. I hope it gets better. 17 lbs down is wonderful!!!
  11. Getting the "approval call" is soooo exciting! It was a long 7 month wait for me too. The wait is finally over! Yay!
  12. Glad to hear you're doing well! Congratulations on the new you!
  13. We are our own worst enemy at times. Awesome NSV!
  14. I just wanted to mention checking consignment stores for work clothes. Some stores are better than others. Try googling stores in your area for reviews. There is a place here where people swap clothes too. I agree with you, it is a great idea!
  15. I haven't been there but just wanted to say Congrats on the approval.
  16. I agree with 100%Sleeved....huge NSV!!! Yay, for you!
  17. Hi Everyone! March 19th with Dr. Koppman in St. Augustine, FL!
  18. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
  19. Coming up quickly...I'm looking forward to the measurements to kick my big butt into hear. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
  20. Great advice and philosophy. I need to re-read when I face temptations after my VSG. Thanks for the post
  21. Seems like the ones that have had VSG are doing great for the most part! Glad to hear that!
  22. I feel like I'm on the fast track now...3/19. I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it!!! Starting "Phase One" of the Pre-Op diet tomorrow. - No starches or simple sugars - Cut meal portions in half - Eat Lean Protein and a vegetable or fruit with each meal - Consume 2 servings of dairy per day - Take 2 adult multiple Vitamins per day - Exercise at least 5 days per week, increasing intensity and time. Increase time intervals by 10 minutes each week Definitely, do-able! I'll probably get more restrictive eating orders within a few days since my date is so close. Doing EGK, chest x-ray, and blood work this week. Hope to meet a few sleeve-sisters or brothers!
  23. Congrats! i just got my date too! Good luck!
