  1. I started biking at 3 weeks post op. (Tuesday!) Just about 5 miles at like 8mph on flat bike paths. It feels great! I plan to go again tonight.
  2. you are adorable! congrats on the new home!!!!!
  3. Please be careful not to get too full! My greatest fear Is jeporadizing my suture line and getting a leak. ( I met girl in my support group that did) or getting mega esophagus.
  4. Welcome! I hope you really don't think this is punishment!! ( the pre-op diet feels like it) I'm only 3 weeks post op and I'm shocked at how satisfied I get from an egg, or a baby bell cheese or 1/4 cup of yogurt! One item is an entire meal for me! I also drink a protein drink and a 12oz milk every day. Oh and a Popsicle before bed! I'm thrilled about how I feel like I'm satisfied and not on a diet!
  5. You will eat again! Even at 3 weeks out I'm eating eggs, ground turkey, string cheese, cottage cheese, refried beans, super soft cooked carrots, tofu, yogurt, soups, etc! I am sure i will be eating normal by week 6 to 8. I'm just not yet for safety reasons. food is different post-op you get satisfied easily and off of a few bites!
  6. Sounds like you MIGHT have thrush, they usually give you IV antibiotics in the hospital, and sometimes that will cause yeast to grow. Its yeast on your tounge basically. I got it too. Showed up four days post op as well. I took a Diflucan pill and it went away. You should see your doc for this.
  7. Hi and welcome! I am like you in many ways. 28 as well, and I just separated from my fiance in May. LIfe is soooo much different. I did finally take the plunge to have the surgery after the breakup and it is sooooo scary but the future seems bright. We will figure this new life out!
  8. Thanks for the input. Thats when I figured I could have a few sips! :-)
  9. It sounds practical to me! And that's what your doctor advises. I will be right there with you tolerating everything at 8 weeks. I'm way ahead at 3 weeks and have lost quite a but. Keep up the good work!
  10. I make egg salad and thats pretty good. I didn't puree my tuna salad the tuna seems to break up really well if you mix it up well with mayo or miracle whip. Just take really small bites. Also try the Ricotta bake! I made it and ate if for days. I used super yummy Giadia DeLaurentis sauce from Target so it was extra delicious and satisfying!! I am making a really tender roast tomorrow and I will see how that goes. I think that would tatse fine blended up a little??? Oh and don't forget refried Beans with smooth taco sauce, sour cream and melted cheese! very tasty. Shelly's Baked Ricotta 8 oz of Ricotta cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 1 large Egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.
  11. You are being too hard on yourself. You are aloud a few treats here and there ( a few times a week?) This is life, and just because you are sleeved does not mean you can NEVER try a bite of cake. So save the treats for special times and focus on the healthy for the most part. You can do this!
  12. congrats! Sounds like a good outing. Keep up the good work!
  13. sounds fantastic to me I am almost 3 weeks out and I will be thrilled if I was at 35lbs in 6 weeks!
  14. I'm a Lpn at a family practice so it's very light nursing. I will be a RN in December. Congrats on the NP! That's my ultimate goal we'll see I'm not a school fan!
  15. The first few days are sooooo hard! Hang in there!. But every day gets better. Start with a few sips of you protein drink per day. Focus on clear liquids at first! You'll notice everyday you can get more and more in. You will keep feeling better!
  16. I agree I felt sooooo much better when I got home! rest sip and relax! You are on your way!
  17. Hi I was sleeved 3 weeks ago Tuesday! I'm a nurse too. I'm thrilled with the results and quick recovery. I just turned 28. I'm already eating 3 tablespoons of lots of yummy things like egg salad, tofu, baby bell cheese, and really feel satisfied! Im drinking a lot of milk too. I went back go work 6 days post op too our age is on our side! good luck i'm excited for you!
  18. I am 17 days out and I am down 38lbs from my highest weight, and 23lbs since surgery. I am very happy with this weight loss. I have lost about 40lbs about 10x in the past and this is where I always fail and start gaining back. I have this fear its going to be the same as always. I cannot see myself even getting into the 100's again....... did anyone else have these thoughts and were proved wrong? I havn't had a single day where I didn't lose at least one pound, so I am really worried this will be too good to be true! Any thoughts are welcome!
  19. Well you are looking good, keep up the work and hopefully your brain will catch up to your body soon!
  20. I had a very quick recovery. I feel back to normal 100% except I am eating way less! I was sleeved 8/9/11 and went back to work as a nurse in a busy clinic on 8/15/2011. I will tell you the day of surgery and the 2 days after that were pure hell though! I was so misreable in the hospital. I didnt have a lot of pain just horrible gas feeling trapped in my abdomen and I couldn't get comfortable in bed. Once I got home I started feeling better and better!
  21. I have seen an anorexic girl die. She did not have any fuel intake (or fat reserves) for her organs and they shut down and she died at age 26.
  22. I wanted to share that I went out to lunch with co-workers to Noodles and Co. I ordered a side of tofu with teriyaki sauce on it. It was like 3 dollars and it tatsted so good!! I have enough left over for 2 more meals. Its a great soft texture and its high in protein!! All you people in the mushy food stage should try this! yum!
