  1. That's awesome that you are losing again and an encouraging post to read. My body seems to lose 5lbs or so in a week, stall stall, gain a little then start losing again. I'm not sure what our bodies are doing but sounds like things work out in the end. Btw I seriously doubt you look disgusting at all in your swim trunks.
  2. Friday was my son's birthday and we took him to an indoor waterpark. All day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we ate out. I swam a lot too but I guess not nearly as much as I ate. I ate some bad stuff too. 1/2 of a starbucks bear claw, a chicken tender and handful of fries, sweet tea 1/2 of a dove chocolate bar. The point of this post is, when I was reading about VSG I only read posts about how easy it was for the weight to fall off. It has been relatively easy to lose as opposed to dieting preop but it is NOT a magic cure all. Probably those post were out there and I just decided not to read them or to think that wouldnt' be me. The fact is that you do have to watch what you eat, it's not just smaller portions. I eat 1/4 of what I used to eat but I still gain or stall. I am starting today on low carb and really kicking my butt into gear. I want to lose this weight and lose it now. I can be more lax once I'm at goal. I hope I can look back next month and see a big weight loss and not be beating myself up as I am today.
  3. Woohoo Mini! I love your smile in your last pic! You look so happy!
  4. One other thing, make sure you are drinking lots and lots of Water and as someone said before measure yourself for sure! I'd be asking some serious questions if you don't feel restriction from your VSG.
  5. TexasT- Good to see you posting, haven't seen you in a while. I orginally thought about getting the band. I was on the band support site when I read something from one of you about the VSG and so I came over here. Now when I hear "Lap band" I cringe. Thank God (okay really one of you) that someone posted on the lapband site or I'd probably be going down that road.
  6. Juliarh - You are killing me woman! Started out a pound heavier and have lost way more than I have. Yes I'm comparing myself. I wanted to see who had a simular starting weight and goal weight for this challenge and you are wooping me! You go! Diva- Thought you were a slow loser? Might have to kick you out of that thread if you keep this up. Good work everyone! Can't wait to see what the coming weeks bring.
  7. I'd so not get bypass the long term weight loss stats on it aren't pretty. VSG can be turned into DS later and vsg is a much easier surgery to recover time. Being a bigger person you don't want to be limited in mobility and also the heavier you are the more risky the surgery. VSG is a quick surgery with fairly easy recovery.
  8. I wouldn't say you would be okay since you dont' have a risk. The risk factors for blood clots are obesity, birthcontrol, smoking, and major surgery. It doesn't matter if you have had one or not. I had one in '03 and they are nothing to mess with. It was because of all the factors I listed even though there was no history of blood clot anywhere in my family and if I wouldnt' have been fat and on bc it probably wouldnt' have happened.
  9. I have the IUD the copper one, no horomones. IT is a perfect birthcontrol method and so fuss free! LOVE IT!
  10. Yep like the others said it happens to everyone. I actually gained 2lbs and totally freaked. I posted and was so grateful to the ppl who responded to quite my fears.
  11. Yeah! That! I don't sip while I'm eating and the reason is, it makes my tummy feel weird. I drink up till I take my first bite and I try to drink a lot because I find once I take the first bite it's too late to drink and feel comfortable. I typically wait 30 minutes after eating to drink again. Really makes me think about my meals. Am I going to be thirsty? Then I should drink before I eat. Sometimes I find I wasn't hungry anyway, just thirsty and soemtimes it gives me more time to think about my food choice.
  12. I started eggs at about 3 weeks out and it I could eat 3/4 of one in about 15 minutes. I'm a fast eater and always have been. I'm a little over 3 months out now and I can eat a whole egg in about 5 minutes and 2 bites of toast. I'm stuffed after that. Seems the most I can get in is a cup of food. Last night I had 3 chicken wings and 2 french fries. STUFFED. 1 cup of soup sits very nicely. 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese with nuts on top, 1 peice of toast with 1/2 a piece of cheese and 2 slices ham. Those are typical meals for me.
  13. To me it sounds like you need to eat more meals (small ones) and up your calorie intake. I'd write down every thing you ate and see where you are at in a week. To say he's disapointed and then not give you any info sucks. Like another person said I'd def see a NUT. Did you have the traditional sleeve or the plication? Who did your surgery?
  14. You could always do the charting method. Tells you what days you are fertile on and what days it is unlikely to concieve on.

We went to buffett the other day. pizza place here called Snappy Tomatoe. Anyhow I was shocked at how much people were eating. Just tonight I was thinking, as I was eating my 3 chicken wings, how I used to order a double order of fries, a piece of texas toast, and 5 chicken tenders, 24oz sweet tea and still have room for Cookies.
  16. What a fantastic post! I love that you felt so young and free!
  17. I'd let him explore his fears. What if something happened.... Explore that question even talking about what if you died. Like rootman mentioned what if you got very skinny....what would happen. Talk about all these questions a million times if it takes that. At least he's having a dialog with you on it. If he didnt' care he wouldn't ask questions. I understand you aren't getting the support you need but we are here for you. As far as going for sex, ummm, I don't know about that. Maybe he just wanted to be done with that convo and be close to you. Good luck and keep us updated. I find having Drs in the family they are THE most difficult/stubborn/hardheaded.
  18. You are hawt! You look so much thinner than your last update and I think that was just a month ago!
  19. I had steak at about 6 weeks out. I never have any problems and it always sits well for me. I"m going to ask if I can just order the meat and not any sides. That would be perfect for me!
  20. The family went out to eat last night at Mimi's Cafe. I chose there because I really wanted some good Soup. So we get there and they bring the bread basket, I had a nibble of the sweet bread and ordered a pom/lemonade. Now my hubby doesn't share his food. He just doesn't. He doesn't want a bite of anyone elses but he is very....odd about his food. What he orders is what he eats and he always eats all of it. So sharing with him is out of the picture. The kids meals were corndogs, Pasta, pizza, yuck. All of the small meals were fried or pasta, neither which sit well with me. I ended up ordering the Clam Chowder. Once everyone's food gets there and I taste my soup I totally don't want it. I end up bitting the bullett and ordering the petiti sirloin with asaragus (YUM) only to eat about 2 pieces of asparagus and 3 bites of steak. I brought it all home but none of what I got, aside from the soup, heats well. My dinner ended up being over 20 bucks for basically about a cup of food and none of it is really any good for leftovers. How do you handle eating out?
  21. I hate to be a downer or anything but it seems like Plication patients aren't losing the weight they had hoped, are still very hungry, and I guess from your post can still get leaks. Now I'm not trying to be a B and say that their surgery isnt' working but seems like it isn't working for them like the real sleeve is.

  23. My Mom bought me a 38 DDD today and it fit so well. I was a 42DDD I looked on VS website and I see they carry that size but I'll have to check out a store. My boobs kinda puddle in the bottom of my bra now : / I hope they have puddle holders.
  24. No cath here either and no way would I allow one. It's unnessasary IMO.
