Gained 3lbs in 2 days.

Recommended Posts

Friday was my son's birthday and we took him to an indoor waterpark. All day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we ate out. I swam a lot too but I guess not nearly as much as I ate. I ate some bad stuff too. 1/2 of a starbucks bear claw, a chicken tender and handful of fries, sweet tea 1/2 of a dove chocolate bar. The point of this post is, when I was reading about VSG I only read posts about how easy it was for the weight to fall off. It has been relatively easy to lose as opposed to dieting preop but it is NOT a magic cure all. Probably those post were out there and I just decided not to read them or to think that wouldnt' be me. The fact is that you do have to watch what you eat, it's not just smaller portions. I eat 1/4 of what I used to eat but I still gain or stall. I am starting today on low carb and really kicking my butt into gear. I want to lose this weight and lose it now. I can be more lax once I'm at goal. I hope I can look back next month and see a big weight loss and not be beating myself up as I am today.

No you didn't - believe me, you didn't. In order to really gain 3 lbs, you would have had to eat an additional 10,500 calories in those 2 days - that's an additional 5250 calories. If you need 1200 to maintain, that means you would have had to eat 6450 calories each day. Impossible!

What you have gained is Water weight - chicken tenders, fries and the like are loaded with salt and salt makes you retain Water. Even the bear claw - a sweet baked good - has over 400mg of sodium. Later today, tomorrow or if you are unlucky then even the day after you'll start having to pee a lot, and then it is gone again.

It is not possible, to actually gain or lose that much weight in such a short amount of time (other than stomach content and water weight) - especially not with a sleeve.

No worries, these 3 lbs will be off in absolutely no time

Yep Susanne is right, and don't forget that you haven't passed the remainder of that food yet either, a lot of the liquid will be eliminated from your bowel as well as the bladder.

One possible hint I can give you is DON'T weigh daily, it's TOO easy to get caught up in the roller coaster ups and downs and get discouraged and - what are we PREVIOUSLY famous for? Pig out in disgust - even though that pig put will be much smaller it never helps.

Go back to your regular diet, I bet within a week you'll be back on track. We all need to Celebrate once in a while too.

DJjackson,

all I can say is congratulations on a bloody good job well done.... you have done sooooo well to date... 54lb since Oct is brilliant; what is a couple of pounds? They will soon go!

Keep your chin and don't sweat and just remember you enjoyed your son's birthday too... ain't that what being a mam is all about!

I'm thinking it has to be Water weight as well. I don't see how else you could have gained 3 in 2. Don't sweat it! It will come off plus some. Good luck!

It sound like you had a really great time at the party ! And a little dove bar is one of the pleasures of eating. You are back on the non birthday celebration track, and it will come off.

Don't let this ruin your fantastic celebration, food and all. Its just when people get into the habit of eating like this day in and day out that they get into long term trouble. If you can kick the habit till the next celebration, you will be fine.

I like that you posted this so there can be some reality checks for what comes to seem like a panacea. I know that with my pain issues and near invalid status outside the Water I will probably still have a fairluy slow time of it. I Know I can lose weight if I eat very very little and the sleeve will help me do that.

That said- yep- Water it most likely is. Remember with water and weight- a pints a pound the world around!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
