  1. Oh, and I am on an acid reducer. Just trying to remember the name....the coating of that pill is what came up.
  2. My doctor gave me pills in the hospital. My throat is so sore today from the incident. I am going to call once my son is down for his nap.
  3. Night time seems to be my toughest time. I feel uncomfortable a lot. Last night wasn't too bad. So I get my medicine ready to take (antiacid, low dose antibiotic (skin reasons), Biotin and it seems like something else? I can't remember at the moment). I do this every night with no issues at all so far. (I am one week and 3 days out) I take them-I feel fine. Then all of a sudden I am extremely uncomfortable. Warm saliva, nausea. I vomit. It doesn't seem like much of the medicine itself came up. The green coating on the antacid came up, along with a bunch of saliva. So yeah, that sucked. But the worst part was the uncomfortable feeling-the pain in my stomach. My throat was BURNING. I kept trying to swish with Water to get that taste out of my mouth, but it didn't help. This morning my throat is really sore. I am drinking cold water because that sounded good. Every once in a while I will get a bad pain in my stomach area. It goes away, but then comes back here and there. Is this normal?
  4. Just an update to this. I did NOT cheat, but yesterday when I met with my NUT, she asked me if I followed the diet. I told her yes and then she smiled. She said most people don't, but as long as you replace a shake with a high Protein snack (cheese stick?), you will be alright. You would think I wish I would have known that-but honestly, sticking to all liquids really taught me a lot about myself and I am really glad I did it.
  5. I am in full liquids and I water down oatmeal and grits. My doctor told me as long as I could drink it, it counted. I'm sticking with it.
  6. Does soup run through everyone? All these liquids make me run to the bathroom all the time. I am taking immodium, but it certainly isn't helping.
  7. Thanks, Tiff. I made the tomato soup with melted cheese and it was really good. It was something different. I appreciate it!
  8. for more ideas for full liquids. I just don't like cottage cheese or yogurt. I don't like artificially sweetened things. I like strained broccoli cheddar soup-but I have eaten that ENOUGH. I am so done with brocc cheddar soup! I eat soupy grits and soupy oatmeal. I supplement proti diet in my water, so I am getting protein that way. I just honestly don't know how I am going to do this for another 2 weeks.
  9. There is no way I could drink a can of soup. I am lucky to get four good sips/bites down. I have to constantly sip water just to keep that going. Last night I made soupy grits and I took probably 5 bites. I thought I was going to die later. I was so full and miserable feeling.
  10. I know some call this onederland, but since I wasn't all that much heavier than 200 lbs (225), let's just say "under 200." So officially I am down 26 lbs. I am one week and two days out. (Plus I lost during the pre op diet) I feel like it comes at a bit of a price. I haven't been feeling nearly as good the past day or so. I was doing WONDERFUL and then-BAM.... out of breath, light headed, just kind of a blah feeling. I am hoping to get some rest today and push Protein. Hopefully that will help.

I was going to type out a whole explanation while today was rough, but I honestly don't feel I have the energy. Today was just a rough day. I don't feel good, I am tired. I am cold. That's about it.
  12. Tiff, those sound really good right now. I ate some watery grits earlier. Yuck. (I love grits, but watery? Yeah, not so much.)
  13. I had very little pain. I do have the bubble discomfort after eating. The first day I had some pain-nothing bad at all. The second-I had some, so they gave me diludad. I really don't know why-then they gave me too much. So I would have much rather just dealt with the pain. I was hallucinating. Ugh. Anyway, the next day I was to be released, but my oxygen levels were too low. (75% or so) So they kept me. (Even though this happens every time I have a surgery and I am always fine, but I understand) That night I just walked as much as possible and the next morning I was released by 10 am. That day, I slept on and off because I could. :cool0: I had my dad here, so he was watching my 1 year old and the 5 year old was at school. On Friday, I just relaxed, and enjoyed my husband's help when my dad flew home. Over the weekend, we lounged around-I walked as much as possible indoors. (it was WAYYYY cold outside) Sunday, we walked around Target for a while and went out for lunch. I did great. Today-SEVEN days after surgery, I am SO weak. I don't know why! I just feel so out of breath after going up the stairs or taking the dogs out. I have been fine until now. I am going to my post op appt tomorrow, so I am hoping he can offer some insight-I am sure it is normal, but I just want to make sure.
  14. I am. I *was* feeling all the way back to normal, but today I seem to be really weak. I have no idea if that is normal or not. I am one week out.
  15. I am not dealing with hunger in any way. However, I would kill for a coke right now. I just have to remind myself that I didn't alter my body to just give in to a coke. It is so tough, and I understand! Hang in there!
  16. Phatmanwalking, The Wii is a gaming system from Nintendo. The Wii fit is a game that goes with it. You can do all types of fun activities on it to burn calories and stay in shape. It has this thing you stand on that takes your weight and stats. It is fun. The kids like it, my husband likes it.... a fun family activity when you live somewhere very snowy!
  17. My 5 year weight history hovered around 40. It was sometimes above, sometimes below, sometimes right at 40. I was like you-really worried they would deny me. Nope, they approved! I think you will be fine. Good luck!
  18. Everything is going to work out WONDERFULLY for all of you! I am 6 days out and it was the best thing that I ever did! (I already know it!) For those of you that are scared-what exactly are you scared of? A life change? The surgery? The loss of food as a comfort? Something else? I had all the above fears, I promise! My surgery went beautifully. Very little pain at all. If you do a diet before, it will really help with the diet after. Find a protein shake that you like BEFORE. It makes things easier. It is just such a good way to get protein in. I like Muscle Milk light in the chocolate milk flavor. Finding a protein syrup is probably a good idea also. I like Proti Diet Grape and Orange. You can add the syrup to tons of different things (greek yogurt, water, etc) and it also helps get the protein in. Find soups that you like. (strained) Otherwise, relax. Take a hot bath. (I wish I could right now, but I have to wait until fully healed) If you are having really bad anxiety, tell your doctor. I was having severe anxiety before and he offered me Xanax. I didn't take it because I honestly already had some . Everyone needs a little help to get through sometime and there is nothing wrong with asking for something for a short period of time. My anxiety was unneeded. I feel great, I have lost 25 lbs in two weeks (pre op diet and post op) and I am so excited about what the future holds for me. I have two beautiful children (1 and 5) and they deserve the best ME. I am SO happy that I am sleeved! Congrats for making the first steps forward-you will do wonderful!
  19. and I am down 25 lbs. I thought it was 23, but today on the wii fit it said 25. I will go with it. That does include the preop diet-so in 2 weeks I have lost 25 lbs. Full liquids is hard for me. I am eating a lot of soup of course. I have to do this for 3 weeks. I will make it. I am very pleased. At times I still feel some discomfort, but it is nothing I can't handle. I am very very happy to be sleeved!:001_tt2:
  20. I guess I could travel to another city. We live smack dab in the middle of the state. I could do Cincy, Cleveland, etc. However, if I had an emergency, then what?
  21. What am I to expect from my doctor? How often do I see him? What will he be doing during those visits? While I feel that I picked the most experienced surgeon in the area, (and the only VSG surgeon around here I believe) I am really disappointed in his staff, and quite frankly his own behavior after my surgery. It was so different before the surgery. After? He honestly acted as though he was god's gift to heavy people. There was an issue where I was over medicated in the hospital. I had too much diludad? (sp?) I would have pain, they would shoot me up. I didn't ask for that medicine, I was just telling them my pain level. I had no pump-no control over what they were giving me. I was so out of it that I didn't know what was going on. When my dad came to see me, I was telling him about acorns, the olympics, squirrels, goldfish crackers and Vancouver. It was really strange. I even remember just talking to myself for one entire afternoon. Just a big ole conversation with just me talking. At one point, my doc came in, realized I had had too much and he told them to back off on the meds. I felt SOO much better as soon as that crap was out of my system. I am not a pill popper-I have taken one dose of the Percocet since I got home. So when he came to see me next, he acted kind of irritated with me. THen he went on to tell me that I medicated myself "too heavily" and that was my problem. (I didn't get to go home until Thursday, was supposed to go home Wednesday) I just stared at him. I am not pointing fingers because it doesn't matter now, but that comment really bothered me. I don't know if he thought I was looking to blame someone for having to stay an extra day (I wasn't), but then he went on about how I was doing things all wrong-I wasn't recording my Water intake (um, I couldn't pick up a damn pencil-I was THAT out of it), I wasn't walking enough (I walked every chance I got.), and something else that he pointed out. I mean-really? Was that necessary. When he left, I wanted to cry. Maybe I was being a bit emotional? I don't know. His staff, well, that is an entirely different thread which I won't even get into. Can another bariatric doc monitor my progress from here on out? Even if they don't do VSG? Or should I just stick with him and deal? The more I think about the way he made me feel, the more upset I get. I know it isn't a huge deal, but it bothered me at a time when I feel I was really vulnerable.
  22. I am 6 days out and until today, I had so much discomfort with sipping anything. Today I noticed being able to gulp also. I am kind of glad because the discomfort sucked rocks.
  23. Time may be on your side. I mean-VSG is getting more accepted as each day ends. I was *this* close to getting a lap band because that is what my insurance would pay for. 14 days before my paperwork was sent off, my insurance company started paying for the sleeve. 14 days. To think that I may have ended up with a band makes me feel ill. I KNOW the sleeve is the right thing for me. As for calling the insurance to find out info, I can't help. I had no idea where to even start with that, so I just went ahead and made my appointment and waited it out. I am SO glad I did though because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have my sleeve. SO glad I did!
  24. It is going well! 6 days out and down 21 lbs. I am very pleased! (that includes my 1 week pre op diet) Thanks for asking!
  25. I am not ashamed, but I am another that has not told anyone. People knew I was in the hospital and I just knew we would see someone there, so I told everyone that I was having a hernia surgery. Yeah, it was a lie, but I'm not too worried about going to hell. I posted my thanks on my facebook to my father, who flew in and tirelessly took care of my children for my surgery. Well, of course my cousin alerted my grandmother who immediately called my father. My dad ended up telling her the truth, which I understand-she was concerned. She told him she wouldn't tell anyone, but I am not so sure. I hope she doesn't, because in my dad's family-everything is a joke. Everyone makes fun of everyone-to the point where nothing is funny any more. No one can have flaws or secrets-they endlessly will make fun of you until you feel like a big pile of poo. But if she does, so be it. I will not be like them. I will not die obese. I will not do it. The funny thing (or not so funny)? Every.single.one of them is morbidly obese. So yeah, while for now it is my secret-it will not define me.
