  1. Shirataki MiracleNoodle Shop! I am jonesin for some Pasta. Just wondering if these are good or what...
  2. Do not stop using your antacid. DO NOT STOP USING IT EVEN IF YOU FEEL OKAY! I will admit it-I hate taking pills. This has been my downfall after the surgery. I even hate taking my multi Vitamin every day. I do it, but I hate it. I don't even know why. Anyway, I have not had any problems with indigestion or heartburn since the surgery. So, stupid enough, I stopped taking my antacid last week. Well, I think it has been about 10 days since I took it. Well, I am miserable. Everything hurts going down-it burns. I can hardly eat anything right now. I can drink (and that still hurts, but not like food does). Obviously it is because I haven't had my antacid. I went to the doctor today and he said I better start taking it again. If it isn't better in another 10 days, he is going to scope me. But he really felt like it was the lack of antacid causing me the pain. (and I do too...) Take it from me, take your meds as directed!

    Just a little advice.

I am back on it now. But when I was off of it, my esophogus would burn also. Everything kind of burned. Also, here is a TMI-I had diarrhea that was just straight stomach acid. It was extremely painful and I don't wish it upon my worst enemy. I will not be going off it any time soon!
  4. At 4 months out, sometimes I wish I could burp. It will get better.

    Wiping

I don't think I pooped for 7-9 days. LOL. So yeah, by then I was down 25 lbs and feeling pretty good. No issues with wiping.

    Worried about throwing up

I throw up about once every two weeks? I guess I am still learning what I can tolerate and how fast I can eat it. I am over 4 months out though and I don't think it damages my stomach in any way. It isn't even like a real vomit if you want me to get real about it. It is like the food just kind of falls back out of me. (Sorry if this is TMI) I don't know. I get mad at myself when it happens (because I feel like I did something wrong), but I don't worry about it.
  7. Alright. So I have been losing hair for a week. I have to say-I didn't expect this. It is alarming how much hair I am losing. I have a TON of hair, but it still scares me. For those of you that lost, did it slow down after a bunch falling out at first? It really scares me. I feel if I continued for months losing like this that I would have no hair left. I know that sounds extreme, but I am losing A LOT of hair. I am taking biotin for regrowth, but wow. I am getting a little nervous. This was one thing that DIDN'T scare me because I have so much hair and I lost after both of my pregnancies. THIS is different though. Please tell me I won't lose it all.

    Another hair loss question.

When I wash my hair tomorrow night, I will take pics of what I lose just in one washing. It is honestly disturbing to me. :thumbup1:

    Has anyone tried these?

Yeah, I don't think I will be trying them. Ick. I just love pasta and I haven't had it since 2009!

How much do you loss per week

Some weeks none. Others 1, some 3 and I would say on average about 2. It varies every week. This week seems like it would be a bad one-I have eaten some "not so great things" but yep, still down 3 lbs!
  11. excited2lose

    Just a little advice.

I think I would stay on it for a year (at least). Now that I think back, I think a lot of my discomfort has been from not taking the antacid regularly. I will take it for quite a while, I am sure.

    SEX/Ladies

Tiff, that site is great. It reminded me of the Sims game. :sad0: But dirtier.

    What Can I expect??

I had my surgery 1/25/10 and I am down 52 lbs as of today. I have stuck to the diet and worked my ass off when it comes to working out. (not everyone can though-it is all about what your surgeon will allow) I have found that I enjoy working out, so I run 7 days a week plus meet with a personal trainer twice a week. The key is to really sticking to that diet though. If you stick to it, yes, you will lose. You will lose fast!

    Just a little advice.

Ok, went downstairs to get some bread (I'd rather have bread than milk....milk just skeeves me out...i know, I am strange) and we didn't have any. (My husband eats low carb also) I did find some saltines and I ate a few of those and it seemed to help. I am going to try to get some sleep. Hopefully this resolves tomorrow. Thanks for all the help!

    Sleeping post op

I haven't had any issues, but I use the target brand sleep aid (gel tabs) a few times a week. They work great. I have always had sleep issues, so I can't really say whether this problem is an after surgery issue.

    One month out today

I hit that same dreaded stall. I stayed there for 3 weeks. Then the scaled moved a TEENY bit and stalled again-another week. But I kept on exercising and watching what I ate. I never once got *too* discouraged and I am so glad that I didn't. Just a week and a half ago I broke out of that stall phase and the weight is falling off. I don't even get all my protein in some days (not recommending it!) but some days I can't believe that I lost 2 lbs just overnight! Just be patient and you will get through it! Like a pp said, ANY progress is GOOD progress! :sad0:

    Does anyone

Yeah, don't invest in anything until you get home. I was all gung ho on muscle milk until I got out of the hospital. Bleh. For about a week, everything smelled like smoke to me. (odd, eh?) Nothing smelled or tasted good. This past week I have started to add in some muscle milk to my diet to up my Protein count and while I can keep it down, it is much harder than before the surgery. Good luck ladies! Can't wait to see you on the other side! :sad0:

    Just a little advice.

I am drinking lots of cold water-hoping it will help. Not yet, but time will tell! I pm'd tiffy to see if I could take some tums. Anyone know if that is okay?
  19. excited2lose

    Just a little advice.

I don't drink milk. I have some (i have two little ones that love it) so if I get miserable enough, I may just go for it. I would eat a piece of bread if it would help. I have introduced some carbs into my diet lately because I work out so much and I am still losing. I don't recommend it though! I work out more than I should. (Just being honest!)

    Just a little advice.

I take otc Prevacid. I started on prilosec, but switched to prevacid and it works well....if you continue to take it. I can't believe I did this to myself. :sad0: I am so miserable. I am just sitting here with burning pain in my chest. It feels like it is bubbling into the back of my throat. Bleh. I am a dummy!
  21. So far, it reminds me of hair loss after having my kids. It falls out on my dark shirts (and you can see it-I am blond), it is in the shower, on my hands, etc. So I am nearly 3 months out. Isn't that about the time it happens? Here's hoping it doesn't get too bad. Luckily I have really thick hair.
  22. that I hadn't heard in...oh, 15 years. I went to get my daughter from school and I went inside to get her. Usually i just pick her up in the pick up line and I don't get out of the car. It had been a while since I had seen the teachers and staff (and I consider myself close to them-I volunteered there a lot before my son was born). Anyway, the director came out and saw my son and said "Oh, wow! Look how big he has gotten!" I said "I know, he is my big boy." Then she looked up and gave me that up and down look and said "Oh, my! Look how LITTLE you have gotten!" I must have looked behind me because I didn't think she was talking to me! She asked me how I was losing the weight-I told her diet and exercise. She gave me a huge hug and told me....drumroll...>I was her inspiration. She just thought it was great that I was balancing so much and losing weight. That made me feel good. It gets better. I then went outside to buckle the kids in the car. I saw one of my daughter's teachers from last year and she looked at me and said "You are getting so SKINNY." SKINNY? REALLY? ME? No freaking way! It was a decent day if you can't tell.

    Attitude Adjustment Please!

I had my surgery on Jan 25th and I still have bad days here and there. Today is one of them. I am on regular foods, but I am very strict on my carbs. Well tonight I made my daughter nachos and they looked soooo good. I decided that I was going to have a little portion. Oh, I feel like crap. I wish I would have never even thought about those damn things. Pain, pain, pain. Not only was it a bad food choice, I also ate it too fast. So yeah, you will have these days, but honestly, when I look in the mirror-I know it was so worth it. Right now I want to hurl though.

    Hair loss started today

In the beginning, I had a tough time, but from about 3 weeks out until now I have had no problem. I think there are tons of people on the board that were getting tons of protein and still losing, but I could be wrong.
  25. I was sleeved 1/25 and I just finally got over a stall. I think the article "seems" right on and those questions def will help you move on. One thing I did this week is I went back to Protein shakes. Not for every meal, but Breakfast and dinner. lunch I would have a balanced meal and then some high protein Snacks throughout the day. I lost 8 lbs this week. That is a ton, I realize, but I hadn't lost any in a while. So I think that article is one to hang on to. When you hit a stall, it is so frustrating after surgery. You think "I did THIS to my body and I am not seeing results?!?!?!?!?!" It is hard mentally. But you do get through and you do figure out how to tweak your diet. Just know that stalls are most likely ahead for you. If you know going in, it won't be nearly as hard when it happens!
