A little update on me!
Things are going well. I still have diarrhea like crazy-but my doctor and I are working on that. I was stuck on a stall for the past few weeks hovering around 180. Up to 182, down to 180, up to 181, etc. This just so frustrating since I am working out like crazy. (I really enjoy it) I also watch what I eat, but I felt like I was slipping in that department. Nothing ever sounded good, so I would end up eating something I probably shouldn't have. (Nothing awful, but just maybe 20 more carbs than I had planned on) So Monday I buckled down and started on protein shakes again. I have lost 4 lbs since Monday, so obviously it is working! I have one shake when I get up, a banana with peanut butter before I go running, another shake for lunch and then a sensible, protein filled dinner. It is working! So I will stick with this for a while and see how it goes. I am so glad the scale is moving again though!

Today I heard something
that I hadn't heard in...oh, 15 years. I went to get my daughter from school and I went inside to get her. Usually i just pick her up in the pick up line and I don't get out of the car. It had been a while since I had seen the teachers and staff (and I consider myself close to them-I volunteered there a lot before my son was born). Anyway, the director came out and saw my son and said "Oh, wow! Look how big he has gotten!" I said "I know, he is my big boy." Then she looked up and gave me that up and down look and said "Oh, my! Look how LITTLE you have gotten!" I must have looked behind me because I didn't think she was talking to me! She asked me how I was losing the weight-I told her diet and exercise. She gave me a huge hug and told me....drumroll...>I was her inspiration. She just thought it was great that I was balancing so much and losing weight. That made me feel good. It gets better. I then went outside to buckle the kids in the car. I saw one of my daughter's teachers from last year and she looked at me and said "You are getting so SKINNY." SKINNY? REALLY? ME? No freaking way! It was a decent day if you can't tell.

Account Deactivation
Yes, this. This is why I have slowed down in posting here a bit. I don't care for the lay out of OH though. But I don't like that people can NOT be free here to discuss any doctor they would like...

Spring cleaning and fear
I have been on a cleaning rampage for days. I cleaned my entire garage, the basement...and now we have reached my closet. Last year my husband and I bought the house of our dreams. One of the big selling features (to me) was our closet. It is huge (considering the house was built in 1929). I walked in to start taking out all those size 20s, 18s, 16s and even 14s. I can't do it. I don't know why. I don't know if it is simply the fear of gaining it back or the fear of having nothing. (I know that sounds ridiculous, but I am just being *real* here.) I don't have many size 12s (what fits me now) because I don't want to be a size 12. I want to be a 6 or 8 (or 4 or 2! LOL). I am a stay at home mom of two little ones that runs a business from home, but I rarely have to dress up. Most days I wear my work out clothes (which is fine with me for now). I need to get rid of all these huge clothes-they don't fit. But for some reason I have this fear-or maybe it is even a bit of guilt? I don't know. Guilt because we have spent all this money on clothing and I am donating it all? (I like NICE clothes...shopping is my thing!) That also sounds ridiculous, but I am trying to figure out what that nagging feeling is and I can't quite figure it out. Anyone else or am I nuts? :thumbup1:

Ran 5k today.
I was pretty slow. 13 minute mile. (about 40 min to finish) I pushed my very heavy 1.5 year old in the jogging stroller too. I even talked on the phone for a few minutes. I didn't get really tired-like out of breath or anything. My calves did burn some, but I think that had to do with my very intense training session yesterday (I wanted to cry for my mommy by the end:001_unsure:). Otherwise, I was never out of breath-just sweaty, so I drank a ton of Water during and after. My underarms are chafed now though. I use prescription deo and I put it on and thought I was going to die. It burned SO bad. I guess I need to up the usage of my body glide. (That sounds so dirty, but it is a useful product!) I am going to try it again on Friday. I will let you know how it goes!

Ran 5k today.
Big milestone for me. I rewarded myself with a Peanut Butter cookie. It was SO good.

Anyone else work out A LOT?
I really don't know what to do about my diet, but I think something has to give. I work out 7 days a week. I do it because I like it, because it relieves stress and I feel like it is helping with the weight loss. Originally I was doing low carb/low sugar, but I am thinking I need some more carbs. I feel tired a lot. My muscles are so TIRED. I could hardly pick up my 5 year old this evening. (and that is something I have always been able to do easily) I have no idea how to do this in a healthy way and to not add too many carbs. Since my relationship with my surgeon is in the shitter (Sorry, just the truth), I don't feel as though I can even go to the office anymore. I have already paid for nutritionist appointments. Maybe that is what I need to do-bite the bullet and go in and see the nut. I can't stand the staff at his office though. Ugh. I emailed one of the nuts tonight, but they don't even know me because they go through quite a few employees a month and I haven't seen any of the new ones. Ugh. I am so frustrated!

Soo I started my Vlog!
I agree-you are not stupid! You are adorable (seriously!) and obviously very smart. (But I do the same thing all the time, so I get it!) Hey, did you find someone to film your surgery? I would do it if I lived closer. Ohio is obviously not so close! :confused1:

Big Big Mistake
I was on vacation this week and munched on Jelly Bellies all week. (Just a few here and there) I still lost 2 lbs! I was positive I was going to gain! Nope! I love my sleeve!

A little complication
We are finishing up our vacation and I had a little problem today. Last night we went out to eat and I ordered steak. I couldn't finish (of course) so I brought most of it home. For lunch, I heated it up and ate it. I ate WAY too fast. I was just trying to do too much at once and I wasn't thinking. I was sitting in our room and all of a sudden I was saying "Pain, pain, pain" and then I ran to the bathroom. I did vomit (or just kind of regurgitated the food) it right back up. The pain right before throwing it up was unbelievable. I was so scared I had done something to my tummy. Well, for the most part the rest of my day has been pretty normal. I was able to eat tonight with no issue. However, now I am having pain around my stomach area. Not unbearable, it just feels sore. Normal or no? Anyone had this? Again, it certainly is not awful pain, but it just kind of hurts. We head back home tomorrow and I have a 16 hour car ride in front of us. BTW, I am 9 weeks out if that makes any difference. I am on pretty much any food. It was only steak that came up-I had not eaten anything I wasn't supposed to.

A little concerned
Just get back on the horse and try again. I think the pre op diet is great training for post op. Do I think those things are going to hurt your surgery? No. But I never cheated once (and I considered it! You can read the archives!) and it really trained my head for the surgery. Not my mouth, not my stomach-but my head. As my 5.5 year old says "Try, try again!" Good luck!

Just had to post before I leave on vacation.
I dropped 5 lbs this week after a stall that I thought would never end! I am down to 180.8! I haven't been this small since right after I had my daughter and I had post partum so bad that I never ate (not healthy!). Diarrhea is here to stay for a while, I am afraid, but I can handle when I am seeing progress. I took a day off of working out today (I work out 7 days a week) so that I could go to dinner with my very patient and kind hubby (He has been really great to me through this) and my kids. I had a nice filet and even a few pieces of potato. It felt great. I am a solid size 12 and I keep buying clothes even though by mid summer they probably (hopefully won't fit!) But I wanted some nice things for our trip. We are leaving for a week at the beach in the morning. I feel great and I am so happy this sleeve is doing its job! There were so many days where I did wonder if I had made the right decision! I think I did! :biggrin0: Yay me!

My first "bad" experience
Yes, I drink Water normally now. I can gulp now as long as I don't take down too much air. I know how you feel OP, I did that so many times with pills. I HATE that feeling where you KNOW you just did something bad and you KNOW it is going to come back up. Torture!

Jan Feb Surgeries
You are! But honestly, there is such a wide range of where people are that anything could be pretty normal. I try not to compare, but it is so hard. It is just like kids-I know I am not supposed to compare my daughter to her classmates but of course I do!

alcohol after surgery
I just had a drink this past weekend. (Sleeved 1/25/10) I sipped very small sips and I did not finish but probably 1/3 of it. I ordered a lemonade type drink with vodka. I told them to keep it light on the alcohol and they did. I couldn't stop thinking about the lemonade having so much sugar, so I just didn't finish it. I never even felt buzzed. Vacation is next week and I will probably do it again but under the same limitations.

I was sleeved on 1/25 and i am down nearly 40 lbs. I suffer daily from chronic diarrhea. It sucks. Otherwise, most foods go down fine and as long as I keep my carbs at 30g or below, I will continue to lose. I am working out every day as well as training for a race in May. Very excited about that. How are you doing?

A little update...
So I just keep stalling out at about 186.2 lbs. Well, sometimes it is 188, 187, 186, but never below. Well, even though I haven't lost much weight, today I got into size 12 pants. :sad0: Not just once, but over and over again in the dressing room. So I am losing inches, but today the scale moved again also. I have learned that if I go 1g over my 30g limit of carbs a day, I will not lose. If I stay under 30g, I will lose every time. So thanks to Tiffy for all the advice-she is exactly right. 30g is a good limit. So Saturday I leave to go on vacation for the third time in 4 weeks. :thumbup1: I am going to try my best to eat right every day while on vacay. We are going with a few friends (and they have no idea that I had surgery) so it is going to be tough. I still have chronic diarrhea on a daily basis. I have tried plenty of remedies with no resolve. I guess it is just going to take time. When I told my doctor, he said "That doesn't have to do with the sleeve." :biggrin0: Honestly, why would the diarrhea start a few days after surgery? I have never experienced anything like this in my life!

feeling weak and depressed.....
When I started exercising, it really changed everything. I still battle every day with the loss of my very best friend-food. But exercise gives me something to focus on and it is very fun to watch my body change in a way that it never has before. That, in itself, is a huge thing with me!

Couch 2 5K
I am now on w3d3 (that will be Thursday). I am up to running for 3 minutes, walking 90 seconds. It is tough, but I am doing it. I run at about 4.5 and walk at 3.5. My key is-when I am getting tired, I turn my music up louder. It helps me concentrate on the song (and sing along!) instead of "When am I going to be done?" I also cover up the timer and my phone (where the program is running) so I can't see a thing. It is such a great feeling when it is all over.

time off from work??
How physical are we talking? If I had to return to a desk job, I would have returned 2 weeks out. I just felt kind of out of it for the first 14 days. Some days were great, others, not so much. Light physical? 3 weeks out. (That is when I started to work out) Heavy physical? I would say 8 weeks. I would just be really cautious because you really don't want to mess up an stitch or something internally.

Hiccups
I didn't have any issues with hiccups post op except for the MORNING after surgery. I honestly thought I was going to die. I had them for four and a half hours. :thumbup1: They finally gave me an injection of something in the leg that stopped them within 10 seconds. I don't know what the injection was, but it bruised my leg really bad! But anyways-it hurts and I am sure it is annoying! It will subside though!

Chicken
Steak goes down very easily with me. No problems there. I buy really soft cuts though, so maybe that is what it has to do with. I have only tried cashews (no peanuts) and they go down easily also. I am scared of raw veggies though. I did eat some squash when I was home (cooked really soft) but I wouldn't eat the skin because I kept thinking of Tiffy burping up corn. (seems like the same "shell" type thing) I only had about two bites because I figured it was high in carbs also. (I have no idea to be honest!)

700 sleeves and no leaks
I will admit, I am not a huge fan of surgery in Mexico. However, if I wouldn't have had insurance coverage, I would have gone to Dr. Aceves in a heartbeat. I LIKE that she said that at some point, there will probably be a leak. I mean-it happens. It just seems that other surgeons (US and Mexico) would never admit that just to get patients.
