  1. I know it's not always practical, but if you can take a snap lock container and put half in right away- saying you are saving some for later, or let your friends know you are not very hungry and just having a cup of soup or dinner salad, spend most of your time cutting the salad smaller, and participate in the çonversation, most everyone will forget once they begin eating.

Soon, you will become more comfortable with it yourself, and with practice, you will handle it smoothly. We all feel or felt the same. Feeling empathy!

  2. I do have another friend who is sad due to the loss of friends that she is now thinner than they are. She is the same warm caring person, but because some of their activities and social events surrounded food and drink, they no longer include her.

Sharpie, I know you are right, I think it helps us greatly that we have equine friends and horses, we tend to be an independent lot to begin with, but I know my friend is hurting, and it makes me sad and a little angry how superficial people can and always will be.

  3. . My daughter in law pointed out to me, that I prioritize my appointments with other people, so why not schedule in some appointment time with myself. At first, it sounded ridiculous , but I decided to try it. Guess what? It's so simple, it should not work - but it does! I promise the house work will still be there in a couple of hours, or even tomorrow.

Thank you C., you inspire me!

  4. Could you hang out in town, do a little shopping? Take a book, go to the park and read? Take your camera and find something interesting, go to the zoo? Just thought if you are there that early, you could find something fun to do, and if you have a problem, head back to the office before your long drive home. Or even a night over? Good luck! You will do fine!

  5. Wow. I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this. I am recently banded so I am afraid I don't have any words of wisdom to offer, except to say, please don't give up on yourself because you are 50. You are worth being healthy and enjoying every day you have left on this earth. You are right, none of us will ever be young as we were yesterday, but it is a gift and a privilege to still be on this side of the dirt. We have to have some bad days or we would not know how to appreciate when the good ones are given. Chin up! Hope your good days are right around the bend!
