  1. I have heard conflicting theories on the NSAID's and the band so I play it safe and just take tylenol for minor aches and pains. I have yet to have to take any antibiotic since banding yet ..but as you get tighter withyour fills you will find that many pills will not go through as easily and get stuck . I used to be able to take tylenol caplets but since my last fill I can only take liquid tylenol...I keep a bottle of it in my purse
  2. Fatih many doctorswill give you a cardfrom Inamed to keep in your wallet to let those who need to know in theevent of an emergency that you do have the Lap Band. My Dr. gives his patients a credit card type card with ourpictures on it with all of our info in the event of an emergency to give to the ER or paramedics etc..
  3. When I was in Tj at Dr. Orti'z officefor a visit, he told me he was opening centers all across the U.S for fills. Using doctors who are American who he has personally proctored. There was going to be one on the east coast in NY and one in Florida and I my memory is correct I think he said Texas...These are for his patients who have travled across the US to either Mexico or Cancun for surgery ..I'm sure if you call his office they will tell you for sure. Also there are a few women on his board www.lapbandforum.com that have gone to Cancun for their surgeries, maybe they can help answer your questions.
  4. I'm so glad you have relief Blossom, you will probably still have nice restriction when it comes to eating solids but now it wont be such a struggle getting in for both liquids and solids...
  5. Yes Bllossom I can guzzle water but I just ate 2 little pieces of popcorn chicken and can feel the restriction, Betty is right. The true test is when you eat your hard solid proteins. The half cc is gone is going to atleast help you get in your liquids. I'm gladyou went in for an unfill you did the right thing Blossom...
  6. Delarla, since it is going through your girly region and it has been 2 weeks since your last cycle..could it be you are ovulating? You do ovulate 2 weeks after cycle and I have noiticed a huge increase in sharp pains in my girly region when I ovulate ever since surgery, it gets so bad I can not hardly stand up and Iam in tears. I have been abvle to feel my ovulation cycles much more clearer since I have lost weight..Mine does have that feeling like it could almost be gas but I know the feeling so well now and the timing is always 2 weeks after my cycle..so I have pin pointed it to ovulation..
  7. With a BMI of 34.9 I do not think you have anything to wrry about. I had a BMI of 44.1 and now have a BMI of 30.8 and I am not even concerned with my loose skin it is minimal and I have stretch marks galore but I dont have much hanging sagging skin, atleast not enough to have plastic surgery for..
  8. Rachel I am very suprised you are getting a fill so soon and are eating olives and crackers and eggs 11 days post op. Most surgeons will not do a fill until 6 weeks post op. They want to be sure your are healed and your band and port are set in place. What were your doctors post op eating instructions Im curious? Eating solids so soon after surgery is usually not reccomended because again they want your swelling to have gone down and to have everything set in place before you have to go through the digestive procees of digesting solids since it can make the stomach turn and rumble and could possibly make your band slip if it is not totally healed and set in place., anchored in place as some say, It seems strange but every doctor is different, I wish you the best
  9. Same here..I just sipped and sipped and sipped, never paid any attention to volume
  10. We are all pulling for you and Patty both. Hang in there Ryan..Just know that we are all hear for you.

I order what I want and take the rest home for another meal or two other meals ..I never was one for leftovers until now..
  12. Corgi, we all have felt what you are feeling, but thisis the first time I am losing weight without feeling like Iam dieting.. without weighing and measuring my foods, counting points, taking appetite suppressants, etc..it feels so good I can actually say I will not regain this weight back this time, my band is the tool I have needed! It is normal to have these fears, but I do not know of any who have not had success in one way or another with their bands, you will do great!
  13. Most docs reccomend after a PB to stay on liquids for 24 hours, you are most likely experiencing some swelling in your esophaguss from the PB which is causing some discomfort. Try drinking some hot tea, hot liquids seem to help to relax and open you up a bit..sip slowly
  14. I bet you looked like one hot mama in those shoes SO happy to hear you had such a good day! Great NSV's
  15. Nancy, Iam sorry I know how you are feeling, we just put our rottweiller to sleep recently and we are still adjusting to the loss, it's tough but Niko is in a better place. As difficult as it is to see our animals suffer we know we do the right things..my thoughts are with you...(((hugs)))
  16. Beachbabe you mention these issues you have with your husband should be worked on or talked about prior to surgery...I agree 100% that it should be...this seems to be important to you or otherwise you would not have come here and poured out your heart to all of us who you barely know.. I commend you for that Did you know that some of the insurance companies who cover WLS will make the spouse of the patient go through a physchological evaluation to make sure they are ready for the changes their spouse will go through after WLS both physically and emotionally? I am in awe about what Andrieta wrote, she is so true in her words. My husband told me the thing that most attracted him to me 15 yrs ago when I was morbidly obese was my confidence. That has stuck with me for years even as I gained more and more wieght. I did not let my confidence die. I held my head high and people loved me for me, for the inside, now those same peole who loved my insides are lovin my outsides too and for those who did not acknolwedge me when I was heavy and now have time for me now because I have lost 80 lbs ..all I can do is feel sorry for how shallow they really are. You both took your wedding vows seriously Iam sure Sickness & health Better or worse til death do us part. Your husband loves you now and will love you even more especially when he starts to see how your confidence is flourishing and more so when you are getting noticed by other men Trust me
  17. Yes I agree with Pat. please be careful. Nutrition is so important and if you are not eating enough it will take it's toll. Not to mention dehydration. I have been there and it is not fun..I became dehydrted and malnourished according to the CBC I had done when I had esophagitis and was only on liquids. If you can not eat solids then you are too tgiht, the band was designed to be able to eat solids. Not wanting to eat solids is a patients choice, not being able to eat solids is a different matter and needs medical attention, this came from Orti'z book. If the patient wants to eat solids and every time the patient tries to eat solids, it comes back up, this is due to either a tighter fill then needed or something has triggered a swelling of the stomach wall. This can only be resolved by deflating of the band. If the restriction is too tight the band will damage the stomach lining futher and the patient will be forced on a liquid diet. More importantly this can trigger a major complication such as slippage..another excerpt form Ortiz's book Ortiz interviews Dr. Martinez Q. Most patients want a very tight fill. What is your opinion on this? A. I consider a very fine line between being correctly adjusted and too tight. If patients are eating solid food and can not tolerate even third of their former intake they aredefinately too tight. Q. Are there any risks involved in having the band too tight? A. Yes absolutely, we have seen slips develop after a band that was too tight and not loosened promptly. Please both of you be careful we all care about you both here ..yes the weight loss is great but it is not safe for your band or your body to not be able to eat solids . It is not supposed to be this way..
  18. Blossom if you are not eating solids, you are too tight. The band is designed to be tight enough to eat solids, if you can't then you are too tight. The weight loss is great however, but you also need nutrition, when I had esophagitis and was on liquids, I had a complete blood panel doen and my results showed alot of things like anemia, dehydration, I needed more food and nutrition. I have since had another CBC and things are great! Food & nutrition are important 1 cup of Water a day is not goodeither. You do not want to get dehydrated ...a little fill may be needed .2 cc's can make the biggest difference and still give you decent restriction..
  19. La_Madam was the name of a race horse we once owned
  20. It could of been the swelling from around the port area that you werefeeling after surgery. I can feel mine more so when Iam standing up. Also mine is slightly lower then where my larger incision is. It also seems the more weight I have lost the more I feel my port. Iam sureit is still there..try not to worry

Have we decided on a date yet for sure? I would like to book my room ASAP..where is everyone staying?
  23. If your doctor does not remove all of the air from your tubing during your first fill, this can happen...Many have experienced this. There is also a dead space in the band that needs to be filled also which does not count for saline in the actual balloon part of the band,(( I have .4 cc's in my dead space)) if your doctor does not fill that dead space, the same thing can happen. You will know if he removes the air from your tubing, trust me, it feels like you are having a heart attack and someone is squeezing your heart from the inside out...removing air from your tubing is only done once during your first fill....
  24. More Protein in your diet can help, and Avon has a great hair & nail vitamin that I have been taking since Jan 1st and have noticed a huge difference in less hair loss
