  1. What does your surgeon say?
  2. Fyi, i was told by my nutritionist not to take viactiv or any calcium gluconate. The only good calcium is Calcium citrate.
  3. Wow fabulous! Hoping i can get back to running after weight loss surgery.
  4. If you are self pay, I guess it's up to your surgeon. For insurance, it usually has to be at LEAST 35 with at LEAST one comorbidity (HTN, Diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol) or 40 with no comorbidity.
  5. Awesome! Love sturgis, SD And wyoming(devils Tower). My son os Brule Sioux from The Black Hills
  6. It's true. Many surgeons have very poor bedside manner. They may be amazing with a scalpel, but terrible at human relationships, which is why they l,ike their patient's asleep. Believe me, as an RN of 33 years, I have seen and delt with a lot of surgeons. NOT ALL are like this, but certainly, many are. Take what he/she said with a grain of salt and chalk up their insensistivity, to their own social awkwardness. The incisions with likely hurt to some degree, but how many of us actually know what being stabbed 5 times feels like?

A fellow camper!! I have a 27 ft trailer. Just got back from 2 weeks in Cape Cod. Can't wait to be able to fit around my "walk around bed" without having my butt stick out half way into the bathroom.
  8. I was wondering how people would get approved so quickly. My insurance wants all requirement met before approval and my surgeon will only schedule the date after the approval is in. I have seen how some surgeons will schedule before the actual approval. My surgeon's wait is 3-4 weeks after approval. Hoping for early Oct.
  9. I am not yet scheduled, but my patient advocate (us doctor) told me 3 to 4 weeks to schedule the actual surgery. You get your preop appt in 1-2 weeks
  10. I heard it called "food funerals". Stuffing my face for sure...not good!
  11. I am so with you! My rear has it's own zip code! I won't missed being called a "big girl" by my 80 year old patients.
  12. Not sure. 1 have 5 stages of food one week each for a post of diet, clear, full, mushy, soft, then a very gradual introduction of food. I was told no beef for a while, bread like substance should be lite slice must be toasted...i mean it seems pretty strict, I don't think I would be able to eat egg rolls, or quiche lorraine, tacos until at least 6 months out. Just going by my surgeons requirements
  13. Woweeee! Good work, you look fab!!!
  14. Today I had my second of three monthly required NUT visits. Another month to go and all my requirements will be completed, hoping for an oct surgery date. Problem is that it feels like it will never happen. I gained 2 pounds in the last month because of vacation and i just feel terrible. I went to the mall with my kids and saw my reflection. I look like a fat old lady. I was shapely once, could turn a head or two. Now I get giggles as teen girls get a load of my ridiculous rump. I have stopped socializing, having my picture taken, and even my mother (who is overweight herself) can't seem to shut up about how much weight I have gained. It has been uphill battle for all my life. Until 15 years ago, i kept it in check with diet pills and running 2-5 miles a day. Then my last marriage started falling apart, I became overweight, and my then husband would call me fat and disgusting...I was no longer his trophy wife. i met the man who loves me for who I am and he has supported me through atkins, and medifast, and southbeach, weight watchers, you name it, I failed it. After all these failures, I am so afraid some glitch will happen. My insurance will deny, something will happen to prevent this from happening. I know I am rambling, I am sorry. i just feel like I have been such a failure,
  15. Not sleeved yet. But I am hoping I don't eat that much at 4 weeks out. I would be afraid to be eating as pre op before I knew it.
  16. Isnt jerky too dry. You would have to chew it 100 times to get it down I suppose?
  17. I am new here. Actively post...a lot, but new. I have seen a few instances where poster may become preachy, sanctimonious and selfriteous. (sp?) and then people in defensivenes may become downright mean . But for the most part, posters are informative, understanding and supportive. Take the good and throw out the bad, no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I am not yet sleeved, i look to these boards for information to prepare for what will be the next big thing in my life. It helps me pass the time as I obsess over whether or not my insurance approves, once I finish the requirements. I will need the support of these boards once I am sleeved, to get me through the rough patches, the stalls and the food mourning. I am amazed at what I have gleaned from these boards. i have even taught my NUT a thing or two about the high protein foods and shakes out there. My ultimate hope, once I get sleeved and begin my journey is to meet local people on these boards, maybe have a non food get together, share our success and our glitches in person. I'm sure they are out there, I mean, every woman in Fairfield County CT is skinny, it cant be all "natural", can it? LOL! Don't let the meanies get you down, and hang in there. There are plenty of us here to support you and cheer you on...and once in a while...scold you to prevent you from hurting yourself.
  18. I found the editing strange. It may have to do with the first three letters of ***ht??
  19. Trader joes on 14 th st there are a lot of health food choices, including the farmer's market on union square. (my daughter goes to NYU)
  20. Smoking delays healing. As an RN i have seen many lung cancer and emphysema patients who lose lots of weight. So I guess you can say it aids in weight loss...so does death.
  21. Thanks! Weird thing, maybe body dismorphia? I had to add 30 pounds to my actual weight to see the model as myself??
  22. This type of harrassment is exactly why I telling only 3 people in my life. My husband, my daughter in college, and my best friend. Not telling my parents, brother, sons, friends or co workers. When they offerme junk, i'll just say, no thanks, i have changed my eating habits and want to eat healthy foods in reasonable portions. I rarely drink, so that wont be an issue How can you argue with that? And if they say "awe common it won't hurt". I'll just say, you should try what i'm doing, it won't hurt either.
  23. Your surgeons office must be pretty confident seeing rhey already booked your procedure! My surgeons office only books pre ops and op dates after approval has come in.
  24. I am pre op too. my nut states it can stretch the sleeve, cause pain, generally a no-no
