Pre Op Diet
Happy to help! I also recommend making some if ur own broth and freezing it in baby 3 oz or 1 oz tupperware! 1. Beef broth . Buy bones from butcher, they are usually ore wrapped in meat section. Out in pan w onion (i buy frozen chopped for this), add garlic and pepper and roast 350 for about 30-40 mins, turning bones once until brown. Add bones and onion and any liquid from pan into large pot. Add kitchen basics beef broth....whole carton and one can beer. Add dried mushrooms (or fresh), garlic and a spoon of beef "better than bullion" simmer a few hours, covered. Add more kitchen basics broth if u like. Uncover and let beer alcohol boil off. 2. chicken broth. Remove meat from costco or other roast herb chicken. Put carcass in soup pot, add one bottle of chardonnay or other white wine. (it will boil off too but if u r concerned about alcohol check w ur nut.) Add kitchen basics chicken broth, better than bullion, garlic, pepper, onion, mushroom. Simmer 2-3 hours, covered. Uncover, adjust broth w kitchen basics if needed. Enjoy! Let me know if u have questions.

Pre Op Diet
- First Pre-Op Consult -- Suggestions?
Gosh, that depends on how much u already know. How many of these has ur Dr. Done? What is his/her complication rate? How long will u be in hospital and are your charges the same if u stay one nite vs 2? (mine is a package deal). What is your pre-op and post op diet & supplements? How long does the surgery take? Do u get a pain pump afterward? Will u have a drain & catheter? Do u have to do the leak test? .... I haven't had my pre op yet but hoping to get some of those answered. Hope it helps!- 115 Pounds Gone Forever! Pics
Good job! U look fantastic! So excited to get to where u r!- First Business Trip Post-Op...ugh
Try my bariatric pantry.com! I think isopure is the way to go, but they also have protein jello and other stuff! I don't have surgery date yet, but got a lot of ideas from others on this site. Best of wishes!!- First Business Trip Post-Op...ugh
No carbs!- First Business Trip Post-Op...ugh
Isopure is clear, has 40 g protein, no carnal and 160 calories. Grape frost isn't bad but has a little aftertaste. But good for getting protein in! I've ordered samples of other flavors, but haven't gotten them yet!- How Do I Post My Pic?
Thanks for ur post! I got close but think I need to do it from a computer, and I use my phone! I'll keep trying! Thx. Again!- This Was Supposed To Be A Great Day.
I'm so glad that things are going better!- Youtube
I'm a foot & ankle surgeon, so the surgical video really interested me. That being said, most of my family found it disturbing. From a surgical standpoint it requires (obviously) good skills but doesn't appear terribly complex. Do what u feel most comfortable with. Know ur pre op and post op care and trust ur surgeon to do his/her part. Just watch if it interests u!!! I always tell my patients I have the relatively easy part ....fixing stuff....but their part is just as important and more difficult....post op care! Good luck. Let us know if u decide to watch it.- First Business Trip Post-Op...ugh
To me it doesn't sound like u did that badly. And certainly you are taking this seriously enough to cut your trip short and write about it. That shows a lot of self control and determination on your part, and I think you will do great. I haven't had surgery yet, but I hope that when I get in your position I act that responsible. Don't be so hard on yourself! U are setting a good example that we should be aware of what triggers our eating and change our environment if necessary. I'm sure ur next business trip will be easier, and the next after that. It takes time to unlearn behavior.- Primary Care Dr. Supportive?
Stilllooking, good decision!!!- Primary Care Dr. Supportive?
BMarion, Its good to be determined! I'm sure you will succeed! Good luck.- Primary Care Dr. Supportive?
I understand. Ihad to use a service called "care credit" online to finance it, it is like an awful credit card but pays bills for bariatric/cosmetic/in-covered services. I know it is awful going into debt, but i feel I dont really have a choice. I think u are doing well with knowing what u can loose without bmi being an insurance factor. They sure do make it hard.- Primary Care Dr. Supportive?
Minkywinks, I hope it is a breeze! And that u r pleasantly surprised. Good luck and let us know how it went!- Primary Care Dr. Supportive?
Bmarion, sounds like ur pcp doesn't really "get it". Have u considered asking ur surgeon to refer u to someone else that they know is more supportive? I bet it would make this difficult part of the journey easier. And best of luck with ur insurance. I wish mine paid for it, but I am grateful there are less "hoops" with cash pay. Laurabr1, thank you for your kind words. Yes, it is hard to put myself first, still learning how to do that! Just what I needed to be reminded of. Thanks! - First Pre-Op Consult -- Suggestions?
