  1. I am hoping to lose about 130 lbs...seems daunting...
  2. I am 2 weeks post-op and finding foods that were compatible with my stomach, is tough...except melon. I asked my surgeon if it was ok, and he said yes...as long as I am getting in Protein. Good luck.
  3. We were sleeved on the same day! Alas, I have only lost half your amount....good for you! While I have not had any pains, used any pain meds, or had any complications...the weight loss is going slower than I thought. Looking foward to getting back in the gym.
  4. 75lbs in 4 months?! FABULOUS!!! I hope to have similar results. At the moment, things aren't looking too good, though. My problem is not eating enough...go figure! ok, so I am only 2 weeks out and have lost 13lbs since surgery. I guess I was hoping the weight would magically disappear! No, patience is NOT one of my better qualities! I MUST do a better job of eating required proteins and calories. I know you have toe "eat to lose", but its not that easy right now. I hit the treadmill daily, and look foward to rigorous workouts at the gym next month. In the meantime, I will live vicariously through the success of others on the board, and anticipate sharing my own 75lb loss! Again, congratulations!

If not for work, and having to leave the house looking sane...I would probably NEVER wear a bra again! When sitting, it feels as though this underwire is pressing on my diaphragm....and it ain't fun!
  6. chomping at the bit for those numbers!
  7. I am sooo looking foward to a cocktail or glass of icy cold chardonnay
  8. I have told my close circle of girlfriends, 4 of my co-workers, and a few others. I'm not embarrassed, I just didn't choose to tell 'others'. I CAN'T WAIT til I get to the point where people start asking what I have done to lose weight! Depending on the person,I will either tell them about my surgery, or I will use the whole low carb, high protein thing. I've actually considered the FB approach to letting people know, but don't want to do the weekly updates, or have all my interactions be about the surgery.
  9. At the risk of sounding heartless...I think the surgery, and your sickness, are merely excuses for someone who was weak, and cheated on you! Anyone who can cheat when you are at your most vulnerable, is a low-life. Just don't let HIS weaknesses impact your weight loss, and care for your daughter.
  10. When I first told my husband about the surgery, he said" We don't have to tell ANYONE , only the 4 of us need to know (my 2 daughters). We'll do this together". HAHAAHAAAA! He tried to keep it shut, but men are such gossips! I think every one of his customers and family know EVERYTHING! ( I feel you on the in-law thing...)
  11. My doctor said that although ground beef is ok...it is dry when cooked, which adds to the misery. he suggested roasted chicken shredded with mayo for added moisture. Tomorrow's dinner!
  12. Beach season is short, after that, put on some spanx, and keep it moving! Hair loss: they make really good quality wigs these days, or consider hair extensions! Saggy butt: Victoria Secrets sells padded undies...check out a pair. Go shopping, and remember what it was like B.S. (before sleeve).
  13. We were sleeved on the same day, and I've lost 9lbs so far. I've never wanted to be a man before, but....LOL! I wish you continued success!
  14. EVERYONE LAUGHED SO HARD??? WTF??This is NOT okay!!!
  15. Reading these stories, am reminded of how nasty humans can be. Obesity is one of those "things" that people feel they can comment on without recourse. Race, sexuality and weight were always topics that were openly targeted. We've (seemingly) reached a higher degree of sensitivity with regard to race. In the last couple of years, gay men and women have begun to (again, seemingly) enjoy basic human rights without the disgust often associated with them. But if you're 'heavy' 'overweight', or god forbid, 'obese'...there is no safe haven. People honestly feel it is their RIGHT to comment at-will on YOUR body! I will not be a hypocrite and say I have not silently commented on someone bigger than myself (misery loves company), but I would NEVER openly poke fun, criticize or comment to their face! It is astounding how mean and calculated some family can be. Anyone who would demean another at a family gathering (or anywhere) are dirtbags. Plain and simple. UGH! This topic makes my blood boil! Now, to answer your initial question: As a train commuter, I am ALWAYS aware of my seating options. If there are only spots left in a 2-seater, I will opt to stand...possibly an entire hour, rather than risk offending someone if I dare to go over the line by even a centimeter. I will use these stories as motivation.
  16. You're a few months ahead of me, but I already plan to purchase an elliptical bike. It's sort of a cross between an exercise bike and an elliptical machine. You work your legs, and get a great cardio workout. have you tried adding weights to your exercise regime? Regular hand weights while on the treadmill will intensify your workout. Perhaps a zumba video, or some other cardio workout video can add both fun and results to your routine. Good luck!
  17. Absolutely! Tonight I was in absolute hell after trying to eat ground beef. After nearly 2 oz, I had pains worse than labor contractions. Two hours of sheer agony ensued. Twords the end, hubby was ' burping' me as I cried, and vowed to never eat solid food again! 5 days post-op
  18. It really is no one's business unless you choose to tell them! I have told a few people at work (I work in a school), and the rest....
  19. I had my surgery on July 3rd, and home on the 4th. So far, other than a particularly nasty bout of gas, no need for pain meds. In fact, I never even filled the prescription! As many have already said, the biggest problem thus far, has been trying to get the liquids down. Who knew Water could burn??!! It has been 90+ degrees here in NY, and all I want to do is chug some icy cold water....a no-no. Today,I had a semi-frozen chocolate Protein shake( with black, decaf coffee added) and it was delicious. I was actually able to drink 120z....woo hooo!
