  1. I've been taking biotin for the past month and have noticed less hair fall out and my nails are so much stronger and less/no chipping. Try looking up threads here on biotin or google it. It's available where all the other vitamins are.
  2. Have u started taking biotin supplements yet? And my NUT and surgeon said that as long as I focused on my protein goal daily, I shouldn't be worried about losing hair
  3. Yes!! It makes it even more real! Lol
  4. I'm still pre op but I'm using this time to get prepared. I agree with the pill case idea, it saved my life! As a nurse, I am accustomed to chart anything and everything on my patients. So I made up a word document on my laptop, printed it and made about 100 copies (enough to last me 3+months) and put it all in a binder. My plan is when I take my vitamins, I will check mark the vitamin entry. I will write down what I eat, I will calculate my protein ad water an carbs as calories etc. this may seem like too much to some people...but ill be taking 2 months off of work afte my operation so I have time to focus on myself. Can u set an alarm on ur phone for vitamins? Try establishing a routine. For example, mine is vitamins before bed. I keep them in my bathroom and take them when I'm done my night routine
  5. I am stuck at 266! I have a week to drop Another 6 lbs..how do I do it guys? I'm on my pre Op still, protein shakes only and water. I'm staying within 700-900 calories a day
  6. Why don't u try a Protein Bar in a peanut butter flavor instead? Mybariatricpantry.com has so many options. Are u getting in all ur Water and Vitamins? And congrats on losing 98 lbs in less than a year! Keep going girl
  7. It's amazing how much our brain changes with our body. I am pre op and used to love on carbs! Pasta pizza breads bring it on!! Even fruity drinks like snapple and orange juice. I hardly drank water. I've been on a pre op liquid diet since the 7th and I couldn't stay further away from these things! I go to the grocery store and these things don't phase me. I smell McDonald's and am able to drive past without even thinking about it. If I had a steak dinner with veggies and toast I'd prob eat the steak only!
  8. I know what u mean about reading labels. I never did it before. Today I was at the store Buying a bottle of Water and my lil brother picked up a bottle of snapple. I was amazed to see that one small bottle of snapple contained 52gms carbs!! Unbelievable!
  9. Wow!! That's awesome that you lost 40lbs in a month. I hope to be on the same course as you when it's my turn
  10. Don't apologize!! U didnt get carried away, we all have a million things to look forward to. People of average or "thin" weight take all of these things for granted. It's amazing how such simple things in life give us so much pleasure
  11. Of course, I know that this is a question to ask my NUT but it's 1am here..curiosity struck. I've been reading on here that people cut their Isopure with Water to dull the taste. I think It's a great idea! Mixing 20 0z of isopure with 20 oz of water and u get most of ur water and Protein in that. But if we add water to it, does it water down the protein? Anyone know the answer?
  12. Depends on how far out u are. Suggest a high protein focused meal (roast chicken? Turkey? Steak or seafood/fish?) the guests can eat all the fixins such as garlic break but depending on how far out u are u should stay conscious. Maybe u can offer to bring the dessert? So many different recipes on here for no bake cheese cakes etc. do ur in laws knows uve had vsg?
  13. I am so proud of u! U are so on the right track. I understand how u feel about the smell foods, not worth sabatoging your liquid diet. October is just around the corner. We can do this girl!!
  14. I'm pre op but since I started looking into vsg I have been lookin at the kids menus at my fave restaurants. I've noticed a trend about items on the kids menu being highly processed or high carbs (breaded items, pizza, burgers)...I would go to a nice restaurant and just order from the regular menu. Get something High protein and tweak it if u need to (example: if u get a burger ask them to remove the bun and hold the fries)
  15. Big welcome to all our new official October sleevers! We are gonna rock it!!!!
  16. It's funny how all Doctors differ. My op is October 2 and my last dose of Bc was August 28. When I went for all my pre op appointments (gyno, endo, pcp and surgeon) they all said the same thing-no birth control pills until 2-3 months after surgery. I'm gonna take 3 months just to Be on the safe side. I'm too afraid to get a blood clot!
