  1. No catheter for me either this week
  2. Still difficult to sleep for me. As soon as I try to roll towards either side it REALLY hurts. Going to try another night on the couch since I can use it to turn over. Liquids going down well. Just having trouble getting the protein in
  3. Hi Laura, I was banded on Tuesday as well. I don't have much of an appetite either but am trying to get a protein shake or two in every day. I am on full liquids for two weeks. When did you go home? Linda
  4. Sodium and water go together so it will make you retain water not excrete it. Caffeine can dehydrate you.
  5. I was banded on the 5th (Tuesday) and am home on full liquids. So far so good. Yesterday was on small amounts of clears in the hospital. I have tried the protein drinks, a few spoonfulls of yogurt and broth. Not really hungry yet but know I will be. Discouraged because I have gained weight so far and am above where I was preop, Glad to hear how my fellow banders are doing.
  6. Thanks for the encouragement. I am used to weighing myself every morning so will keep track. I am hoping to see another drop tomorrow.
  7. I am two days post op and gained 9 pounds since surgery.... have dropped 4 pounds this morning. I was soooo discouraged when I got on the scale after I got home last night. I didn't think I got that much fluid but we will see how it looks tomorrow. I drank almost nothing yesterday and today I have had two tablespoons of yogurt and about 1/2 cup of protein drink.
  8. I had the sleep study to make my insurance company happy. I don't need the machine and was sure i didn't before the test. But I jumped through the hoops to make sure they had no reason to deny me.
  9. I am also being banded on the 29th.. I started the liquid diet on Tuesday but by today was miserable. I was having nausea as well as diarrhea. I had lost 8 pounds since Tuesday because I didn't feel like eating. My MD took me off it and said just to eat what I have been eating. I eat very healthy just too much normally! So the nausea is gone and I am not dehydrated by this afternoon. It would have been a very long 10 more days. Tomorrow I am doing a fundraising walk for Crohns and Colitis and now I feel like I can actually do it. Looking forward to hearing from all of you May 29th people!
  10. It all starts tomorrow and then it will seem more real. Was given verbal approval but will feel better once I actually get the written authorization. Not looking forward to the next two weeks of restrictions but I guess it will be a good practice run.
  11. I just got approval Thursday and was also surprised that the insurance approved it without a fight. I don't meet all the qualifications but had lots of supporting documentation. I start my preop diet on Tuesday... not looking forward to it. I eat fresh and healthy every day. What I have to eat seems too chemical for me.
  12. I am curious if anyone on this board has dealt with Crohns disease or an ostomy. I have Crohns disease, have had my colon removed and have already had 6 surgeries at this point. Although I am not looking forward to having more surgery I am really looking forward to being healthier. I weighed 325 before I got sick 6 years ago. I lost 100 pounds over two years but when my Mom died 3 years ago I put 35 pounds back on. I have struggled to get the scale to move since then despite working out almost every day and watching what I eat. I am looking forward to having the lap band as a tool to help me reach my goals.
  13. Things are happening very quckly for me right now. After waiting and waiting for a denial so we could appeal, my MD called the insurance, talked to another MD and they approved me!! No appeal!! I am just barely qualified with a BMI of 35.2. The insurance company requires that I lose 10% of my body weight which would have put me below the acceptable BMI. So we were prepared for an appeal especially since I have lost 100 pounds and kept off 65 in the past 4 years. I did a lot of extra work and got letters from 4 physicians supporting my need for weight loss and the surgery. So I start my preop diet on Tuesday. I feel like I have barely caught my breath. And I am choosing not to tell my family and friends at this point.
