  1. Did you stay on full liquids for three days, atleast that's what my surgeon advises. That first week is almost like having surgery again. Soft foods, protein drinks, go easy for a bit.
  2. Drink water!!!!! Not so much salty foods. I drink cranberry juice with Splenda makes me pee a ton.
  3. My band has no removal date nor do I unless something goes wrong. Following the rules, eating healthier, and exercising is key to its success. To my success. I was a quantity eater so for me this band has been successful. I did choose to have fills slower and smaller amounts. I was banded dec 2010 from 276... I'm to 187 with a goal of maybe 145 or 150. I don't have regrets. I hope to learn from my band portion control and healthy foods.
  4. I got banded because I didn't want to be unhealthy, I was tired of being tired all the time, I struggled in restaurant booths, I wanted to see my downstairs while bathing in my tub if you know what I mean, I want my kids to see me grow older while being healthy, I didn't like the way I felt or looked, I wanted to get in amusement rides, I wanted to shop at regular popular clothing stores, I wanted to tie my shoes without having breathing problems, I wanted to get off of bronchial/asthma medication, I wanted to love exercising again, I wanted people to not stare at my "fat" arsss, I wanted to feel sexy and alive again... Gee I could go on. I have accomplished all of these. I'm proud to love myself again and live.
  5. It is definitely a sacrifice in which you have to be committed to. It is a lifestyle change. But, it doesn't mean that you can't eat or drink with your friends. However, it does mean that you make different choices when you do! There has been some anxieties in the beginning after my surgery when going out...you get over that and I'll tell you why. I was 276 when I hit rock bottom on the food addiction wheel when I realized I couldn't wear clothes I wanted or fit in booths at restaurants. This is just a couple of many on the list. After waiting a year for approval from insurance I don't regret this life change at all. I'm 187 and have more to go, in a size almost 12. Ok, your sacrifice is a selfless gift to your health as you get older. I would have given anything to have this weight off earlier (I started getting heavy at 27). Just remember you have to want this change for yourself. Good luck
  6. I agree in all this...but I am no longer able to get bread or pastas cooked a certain way and rice. Many people simply cannot get certain foods down. I've tried a nibble of bread and it did go through ( tiny tiny). But overall it doesn't feel good. I'm glad for this because these items are what got me here in the first place. Our goal is to stay in green zone, I definitely try not to "feel" like I've had thanksgiving. This is all a learning process for all. I certainly don't want to feel too "restricted" and the satisfied feeling is the goal. Surgeon told me eat three small meals, two healthy Snacks, 60 grams Protein overall...and plenty of low cal liquid no soda. Educating ourselves is so important.
  7. Ouch that's my worst fear because I'm getting a fill from a 5.5cc -10cc banded. So I go to Vegas Aug 7-12. So I'll be on full liquids for three days cause my appointment is Aug.1... Not much time to tell how it will behave with a small fill. It sounds like the full is too tight. Frustrating you went thru this....maybe Protein drinks, definitely hydration, full liquids but I would still call your doc or sub.
  8. Lots of broths before baby food. I had maybe four jars plum and banana and had protein drinks, mash potatoes and gravy with whey protein powder.
  9. Body goes thru physical and emotional changes. Hang in there and take the ride. I was banded in 2010. It is truly a journey of ups and downs, high energy and no energy. Seek support and take care of yourself.
  10. Feeling the pain...I go August 1, I'm in plateau as well...hang in there. This forum has helped my attitude about the long journey. We will get through this. In concentrating on Protein, liquids, less far, more greens, and more cardio to burn calories. I've got 50-60 pounds to goal. Good luck.
  11. Cottage cheese mixed with yogurt and tsp of granola Italian seasoned ground turkey with Pasta sauce made like a soup. Tilapia, green Beans
  12. Wow I needed to read this. Thank you.
  13. You are all so right! I need to take this all in stride...usually I can handle set backs. I leave for Las Vegas three days after this fill, which is my anxiety of being too restricted ( don't mind softer foods but I don't want to be sick like I see in these forums). Ok I said it. On the other hand my goal is the green zone. I'll continue my workouts and healthy eating and stay away from scale...limit calories and maintain portion size. Again thank you all for the encouragement.
  14. I read on lapband website that maximal weight loss happens between month 15 to year 3...maybe this will inspire our slower weight loss. Make sure you are getting plenty of protein.
  15. Sorry to ask but are you staying on full liquids three days after your fill? That is what my surgeon requests, plus Zofran for upset tummy.
  16. I'm at 5.5 cc but falling out of green zone...so I need a fill. I'm beginning to get hungry in between meals and weight not dropping. A sign I might need a very small fill. Everyone is different. My surgeon told me you could go for months without needing a fill...some don't even need a fill just the initial surgery. Crazy right? I would think as you lose weight your band would need small adjustments. Mine does at this point. Banded dec 21, 2010 started at 268, down to 187. But I wanted to go extremely slow. It has paid off now I'm ready for more weight loss ( goal possibly 145-150)
  17. Just found out that I can't get another full until August 1. Three weeks away. I'm definitely out of my green zone and I know I need to continue exercise and good eating habits. In not losing and at plateau. I'm down to 187. Why am I having so much anxiety???? I guess the fear of weight creeping up. Any thoughts beside putting my not so big girl pants on and deal with it?
  18. I can eat a hard shell tortilla with small bites and chewing.
  19. Oops for Delilah88...hang in there
  20. If you look at the Allergan site or Lapband you can see that the maximum weight loss actually occurs between month 15-3yrs. I'm in my 16th month...I've lost 81 pounds I wish I could have lost 100 in a year but reality is that it still will take time shedding these pounds even with exercise. In happy with the results as I'm almost in a size 12 and I'm healthy! Hang in there. In ready for a fill next week but also worried about the reflux stuff. Doc says don't wait too long for fills when you are out of the green zone.
  21. Two small baby back ribs w barbeque sauce, 2 tablespoons of cheesy potatoes, 2 tablespoons of green bean casserole, and 2 tablespoons of cheesecake with cherries...that all felt like thanksgiving feast not a habit I want to take on. However nothing got stuck but I need a fill next week. Happy 4th USA!!!!
  22. Wow!!!! That's great all this exercise. I'm actually enjoying it but feel like I'm lacking energy. We are doing three body parts per night plus 20 min hardcore cardio. Needless to say, I am tired!
  23. Thank you for the information. I added more Protein after workout. But...I also have learned to hydrate more:)
  24. Should I be adding more Protein if I am working out one very hard core hour at gym? Or do I stay with 60 grams?
