  1. Had my surgery on March 20, and as I progress to more normal foods I've had trouble getting in enough Water. I always drank with my meals prior to this so it's an adjustment. Yesterday I was at church on and off all day, and didn't drink nearly enough by the time i waited 30 min before and after meals Guess I will have to take water with me everywhere. Anyone else have this issue?
  2. What's substantial mean to you? Aren't you still on liquids?
  3. Very good information and makes sense!
  4. It's just surgeons preference I think. If there were any real evidence based practice to show one diet advancement method as best, there likely would be such variation. I think also they are just being overly cautious. We haven't made the best food choices in the past--so they are strict with us!
  5. It's thrush. I'm a RN and see this often. Call your primary care MD. You need nystatin solution to swish and swallow. Good luck!
  6. I had surgery on a Tuesday and took off two weeks. Had my post op appt today and go back to work tomorrow. I'm glad I took off that long. My job is very stressful although sedate and I commute about 45 minutes each way. I feel ready to go back now.
  7. I had surgery on 3/20. I'm 33 yo and weighed 255, am 5'5. My BMI was 43. So far I've lost 11 pounds and am not looking back. My insurance didn't require a waiting period and I didn't have a pre-op weight loss diet. Good luck!
  8. That's awesome! I'm still on full liquids til Tuesday but I've had some mushies out of necessity at lunch yesterday and today. (out with kids and no soup). I've lost 10 lbs so far and wish it was more! But--I'm feeling good and was able to hike about 7 miles with the kids yesterday without collapsing lol, so I guess that's a positive!!!!!! I don't get a fill til 6 weeks out so it will be a bit. Looking forward to losing weight--you'd think with the calorie restriction it would be falling off but not my body!!!!! Nope--I would have lived through the worst famine! Ha!
  9. Thank for sharing. This is all so new that I need to hear from people who have been there'
  10. Shirley, your explanation does make sense. The gas after eating just fluids yesterday was horrible. It was uncomfortable and borderline painful. And from what I'm reading from long term bandsters it can be just a part Of normal life. I wish someone had told me this part before the band. I know the benefits will outweigh this but it would have been nice to know.
  11. I just posted somewhere else. Was banded on 3/20 and I guess swelling had kept me from being hungry. Well today it hit me. I bought hot and sour soup from take out and devoured a cup. All of it lol. No straining here. So it's a couple of hours later and I guess it's fine but seriously thinking about another week on full liquids is painful.
  12. Ok. Seven days post op and I am hungry. Feels like real hunger. I'm on full liquids but I scarfed down a cup of hot and sour soup I got from Chinese earlier. So tired of tasteless and chocolate flavored food! So I ate all the soup, even the veggies. Chewed really well and feel fine, don't plan on making a habit of this but is anyone else hungry???? I've lost ten pounds and hadn't been hungry up until today!
  13. If there's redness or streaking please see a physician. Otherwise warm compresses are good.
  14. (((((((((hugs)))))))))))))
  15. Not much lol. So far I haven't been able to get in three shakes a day. Just not possible. But I've managed three meals sort of and Breakfast has been the Protein lunch has been Soup and dinner soup. My plan is to add more protein after dinner tonight if I cantolerate it. I actually didn't have any dizziness yesterday and I was quite active. I'm wondering if it was just normal post op weakness stuff. Thanks!
  16. Congrats! Can't wait to be there myself. 22 is my starting size.
  17. That is awesome work!
  18. I was banded on 3/20 and have lost 10 pounds. I was pretty psyched even though I know it's mostly water weight at this point.
  19. Everyday. I guess it's just too important to not be a part of my daily life anymore.
  20. No but I do take a diuretic for pseudo tumor cerebri. I guess my bp could be low. I will have my mom check it. Thanks.
  21. Anyone else experiencing dizziness every once in a while? Banded on 3/20 and on a full liquid diet. I think it's probably a lack of calories honestly but wondered if anyone else felt this way. Thanks.
  22. My surgery was 3/20/12 and I'm down 2 bags of sugar. Which I know is mostly water weight but it still feels good to say it!
  23. I can't cheat a bit. This is my chance to have real change and lose weight. I'm not going to let my head mess it up!!!!!!
