  1. I love shopping at consignment stores, thrift shops etc. Many actually support therapies or a mission etc. My kids wardrobe is quite nice and consists of mainly yard sale, thrift store clothing
  2. I was actually better last night. And the pp is correct about water intake. I've GOT to increase mine. I find it difficult to get in more than 34 oz a day or so.
  3. My band has seemed very tight in he last week. I've got 4cc in it. Am scheduled to go to surgeon on Thursday. Will not be getting a fill. I've read others have a right band during hot weather? I can't think what else could be causing it. I'm not having problems but have to be very very careful and chew tons. (This is new in the past week). So I'm guessing it's the weather or a very delayed response to my last fill 4 weeks ago.
  4. I agree. The only two times I've gotten stuck have been eating too fast because I was too hungry.
  5. Thanks twi, I will have to try it. I am loving mio. Orange tangerine is my favorite!
  6. I agree, can't wait to be there! Great job!
  7. My fills have been very easy! Surgeon has me lie down and tells me to stick my stomach out as hard as I can. Don't even feel the needle stick!
  8. B52, I've been reading your posts and am inclined to agree with your way of thinking. I'm still monitoring calories closely because I haven't hit the green zone yet, but I don't plan to once my band is where it needs to be. I also don't subscribe to starvation mode though--starving children in third world countries & anorexia being my reasons!!!!!!
  9. You have done fantastic! I've lost 25 since march 20th. Not nearly as fast as you! I need to add exercise though....
  10. This is an awesome thread and helps! My NSVs so far: The steering wheel thing. I actually had just reached the point where my belly was touching the wheel pre-surgery. Not anymore. Clothes are already getting baggy My blood pressure has gone down Aches and pains have almost disappeared Can paint my own toenails again I've lost 25 pounds so far. Only 80 or 90 to go!
  11. I cannot lie about it. My morals don't allow for that. However, I don't advertise it either. My co-workers know and have been nothing but supportive. I'm sure most of my extended family knows, and some of them are probably waiting for me to fail ( my Grannie lives with me and there's some jealousy and dysfunction there) but those people will always exist. I'm happy with my decision and that's what matters.
  12. How could two shakes and a salad be over 800? Are you using full fat dressings? Lots of cheese and meat toppings? I think most of my salads are under 200 cals. Most veggies are practically nothing. Paul Newman's Light dressings are great and low cal.
  13. Wow. My dr wants me to eat my Protein but this would make it very difficult.
  14. Thank you! I was banded 3/20. I'm sure it is due to swelling but I am glad to feel full so quickly. It was zero pain. My dr told me to push my stomach out and then he cleaned the port site and inserted the needle. Easy peazy! I don't know if it makes a difference but I can feel my port. It might be more uncomfortable if they had to dig around to find it. Good luck!!!!!
  15. So I got my first fill yesterday of 3cc. Liquids yesterday and could advance to solids today. I was only able to eat about 5 bites of my super yummy salad a moment ago at lunch. I was surprised it happened so quickly, but I got a full feeling in my chest and had read enough here to know to stop eating. I know that it will probably take more fills but I am excited today to at least be on my way!!!!!
  16. It's up by the search bar when you go to add food. Love it.
  17. There would be no way to cover that. Lab results are usually time stamped by a computer system and you could easily see whether the test had been run pre-op if you looked at your in/out surgery times.
  18. If your port is easy enough to access a RN could likely do it. It's not that different from an infusaport that chemo patients have. Not making any recommendations--just saying. I will be going to Haiti in may and leaving whatever fill I've had in the band.
  19. Someone on another thread posted about starvation mode. Although you may temporarily plateau, your body will eventually start having to give up its fat stores. If this wasn't the case we wouldn't have starving people all over the world nor anorexia.
  20. This is me. Yesterday I had that "burning feeling" when I peed. Tmi I know. But I am positive it was because of not enough water. Today I feel better but I have really been concentrating on it.
