  1. I wasn't bitter prior to my surgery, but I did suffer with some depression. My body HURT all the time and doing anything seemed like a lot of work. I always put on a happy face, but inside I wasn't happy. I was "drowning" in my weight and I felt like I was too far under Water to swim to the top. I didn't want to die or anything, but I sure didn't look forward to the future. Now, I'm almost 7 weeks out and down about 44 pounds and my whole outlook on life has changed and more importantly, my whole body doesn't hurt like it did. Today, I look forward to the future. Heck, I can't wait for it. Good luck to you!
  2. I've heard it is normal but thankfully, I didn't get that way. I've also heard that it will pass. Hang in there and remember that this is only temporary. You can do it and you will make it through it.
  3. I'm not sure that your whole body hurting would be considered a comorbidity. However, I thought that insurance required a comorbidites if you were at a lower BMI. I would think that being 150 pounds overweight alone would be enough. Have you called your insurance to see what they tell you? You may not have any comorbidites now, but at 150 pounds overweight, you likely will soon. To me, the insurance would be saving money by not having to pay for medical expenses for issues you are certain to develop down the road. I hope they get everything straightened out soon and you get the approval you deserve.

  5. At discharge, I was told a low grade fever in the first few days after surgery was normal. I too was told to call of it went over 101 degrees. If you are concerned, please call your doctor. Take care!
  6. You can't do too much as early out as you are. Listen to your body. If it says rest, then rest. Don't over do it. Your energy will increase with time. As far as protein goes, that takes time. I don't think there were many getting in all their protein so early out. Heck, I'm 6 weeks and 4 days out and still struggle getting all mine in. Good luck to you!
  7. I sent you a PM so we don't end up "high jacking" this thread. :-)
  8. NSV is a good one. You'll see it a lot around here.
  9. Wow! I haven't heard of that before.
  10. Sounds like individual insurance as you shouldn't have a pre-ex clause with group insurance through your employer. If you are thinking of getting another individual policy, you will likely to be subject to another pre-ex clause. You are probably better to wait put your current coverage.
  11. Is your insurance through your employer or individual coverage you took out? I'm in insurance so I have a bit of knowledge on this. Can you give me more details on the pre-ex denial?
  12. I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you are able to get the denial overturned. Keep us posted.
  13. I was worried about the preop diet and the liquid portion of the postop diet. Here I am off restriction since this past Tuesday and I can't believe the 8 weeks (2 preop, 6 postop) have passed. I really doubted making it through it all but I did. Remember the big picture and that the diet restrictions are only for a small time in the whole scheme of life. Believe in yourself! You CAN do this!
  14. Typically, yes in the beginning. Also, men in average lose quicker than women.
  15. I'm another one with low vitamin D. When mine was first discovered, my level was 7 and I think its supposed to be over 50. I was on a prescription vitamin D and my levels came up somewhat so I was switched to the OTC vitamin D. You agent alone. Take care.
  16. That is really cool. Congrats Lissa and have fun with your new "toy"!
  17. I was just recently released to have fruit again. I simply cannot stand my protein shakes that I used preop. They are just too sweet. I was thinking about using some unflavored protein powder in a fruit smoothie but really have no experience with making a smoothie so I'm here for advice. I don't really want recipes. I want advice on the basics of making them. Do you just throw in ice, protein powder, fruit and milk and blend or is there a better way? Also, I don't really care for yogurt. Would the fruit hide the aftertaste of it? Does the fruit hide the taste of unflavored protein powder? Thanks in advance for any help, tips, suggestions!
