Keeping my soul.. you're so lucky. I want to get rid of the gas once n for all

you might try miralax....its a powder that goes in your Water, its tasteless, and odorless. I think it took me 3 days before I had a bm....but, everyone's different i suppose. anyhow, when I feel constipated, i add that to my water, my dr reccomended it, so I know it was safe to take. you may need to do it a few times if you are really having troubles.

goodluck!

This scares me...I'm not the most regular now...

It's should not scare you. We are not taking in as much food, fiber and water as we did prior to sugery so you will not have the same "schedule". My doc says to take something to assist if you are feeling uncomfortable or having to strain to go.

Sorry by what the heck is a swallow test??

Mine was close to a week after surgery. Remember we are not taking in as much food so the out put will not be much either. I am 3 months post op and only go 1 - 2 times a week:-)

It will happen. It was quite a while for me. Remember you are not putting solids in your body, so what do think you have in you to put out. Thats how I thought of it. Keep drinking. Focus more on how dark your urine is because that is a good indicator how hydrated you are. A ton of people use the Gas-X strips for gas. Try those. Oh and this may be gross but we are talking poop here. When I was on liquids and I did finally have a bm it was odd. Although like it was sand. So if its strange, don't worry about it. You did just Change your diet dramatically! But get those strips, people swear by them.

It's the test some have to do to check for leaks. You have to swallow a liquid and then have a scan. Thankfully, I didn't have to do this. My doctor did my leak test while I was still under anesthesia.

My dr did the same' date=' while I was under! And I have been moving my bowels since day after surgery. Only stinky part (no pun intended) its Water diarrhea.[/quote']

I can't imagine having to swallow some gross stuff when you've just had major abdominal surgery. I am so glad I didn't have to.
