  1. Oh how I wish mine didn't. :-) ~Amy
  2. Oh my PdxMan. You gave me a good chuckle. Thanks! ~Amy
  3. You've gotten lots of good advice already. I just wanted to stop by and say hi to another patient of.Dr. Nicholson's. I'm preop still and although I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Nick and staff I have heard your complaint quite a bit and truthfully, it bothers me a bit that he isn't more involved. Though not enough to go elsewhere due to the fact he seems to be one of the "top dogs" in WLS. BTW, where do you live? Best of luck to you in your journey! ~Amy
  4. I'm still preop but just emailed my disability paperwork to the nurse today. She said they start at three weeks off and go from there. Since I'm on total liquids for three weeks, its nice to know I will be able to do that at home. I'm not sure why, but it seems to me like it would be better. ~Amy
  5. I'm sorry that I don't have the answers you ask. But, I wanted to say congrats on the new job and for having coverage. Good luck on your journey. ~Amy
  6. I like the thread someone started about how we got our usernames because it is a kinda get to know you in a different sorta way. Then, I saw a poast where someone called their sleeve by name. So....that got me to thinking, what do you call your sleeve? I'm still preop and thus can't contribute but I'm interested to hear from those who have given their sleeve a name. ~Amy
  7. Poor thing. You did have a rough day. I'm still preop and sometimes feel like you. You will get there! Remember, this is a journey and you have already begun the process to a new you! It just takes time. Take care. I hope tomorrow is better. ~Amy
  8. Thanks for the Sonic ice idea. I love it as well. I live alone and am planning on cleaning out the kitchen this weekend before my preop diet begins Tuesday. Looks like I'll have plenty of room for ice! ~Amy
  9. Best of luck to you! I start my preop next Tuesday and have plans to clean out my kitchen this weekend. ~Amy
  10. Wow! That is awesome. Congrats! You are an inspiration to me and other people who are preop. ~Amy
  11. I agree with this. This is pretty much hoe I did it and I came off it fine. Don't let yourself suffer through it. ~Amy
  12. Thanks for the ideas. The chocolate shake with a banana sounds yummy. ~Amy
  13. Thanks Lisa. I don't plan on getting anymore for now. I will go through more than half of them during my preop. I plan on trying to do different things with them to keep things interesting.....if that is even possible. ~Amy
  14. I bought two cases today. With the one case I bought almost a week ago I'm good to go for my preop diet. I'd love to stock up for my postop diet, but I fear my tastebuds might change.
  15. I'm June 5th. I'm excited but I'm dreading my two week preop diet!
  16. For me, I question this too. There is such a stigma of this being the easy way out. I used to think it was the cheater's way. I think too that people don't understand if you don't work your sleeve, you won't lose much weight let alone keep it off. I think people look differently at people who had WLS if they gain their weight back because " how could you do that? You had surgery after all!". I also feel like their is a stigma that you are weak if you can't control your weight without surgery. I have told my family members who I am close too. I've told only a very few people at work. I know the others will notice the drastic weight loss amd while I like the idea of saying eating less and exercising more to the how did you do it, I still feel that I'm being dishonest. Best of luck to you!
  17. I too worry about not being successful with this. I think most people do. Heck, I think our brains are conditioned to think this due to all the failed diets prior to taking the surgery route. I plan on getting into counseling to work on the issue behind why I eat. "Funny" thing is I have no idea why other than I just love food. However, they (whoever they is) say there are reasons. Best of luck to you in your journey!
  18. Welcome! You will find everyone around here very supportive and helpful. Best of luck to you in your journey!
  19. Just an FYI for anyone who buys Premier Protein shakes from costco. They have a $5.00 off coupon in the add for the protein. It's good for about a month, I think. There is a limit of 2 but my Costco let me keep my coupon so I can reuse it should I want more. Also, if you didn't get the coupons, go to Customer Service. They will give you another booklet with them all on there. Also, there is a coupon in there for gummie Vitamins. I think it was for $2.50 or $3.00 off.
  20. Glad you got some relief. I've been hoping weight loss will do the same for me. It brings me hope when I see posts like yours. Thanks for posting. ~Amy
  21. If I was forced to pick only one reason that I want to lose weight, it would be because of my heat intolerance. My body HURTS constantly due to the extra weight. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a myriad of complaints all due to my weight, but my heat intolerance is ridiculous. I also live in Texas which is not a good place when you can't handle the heat. Heck, I can't even do something as simple as getting ready in the morning without breaking out in a sweat. And, what's crazy about that is I keep my air in the lower 70's. I spoooo would rather be cold any day. You can always add clothes. You can't always do the opposite when you are hot. And, even when I can get naked, I still sweat with very little activity.
  22. I respect your opinion and apologize if I read something in it that I shouldn't have. Either way, we all know any kind of disorded eating isn't good. Take care and best of luck to you on your journey!
  23. Hey Moderators- Can we add a pin to this post so everyone on MFP can come to one central location to add their username and find the username of other VSG'ers? Thanks! BTW, I'm BackToAmy on MFP
