  1. I am only 8 days (well 9 now that it is past midnight) post op and after surgery I had quite a few moments of "what the he#@ did I do to myself?" moments. What I figured out was it was directly due to my pain level. I haven't had any of those moments in days now. I'm actually very excited for the journey ahead of me. Best of luck to you!
  2. For anyone living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth arae, I just found out they are opening Trader Joe's out here. Check out their website to see of there is one coming near you. For anyone who is a TJ shopper, what do you recommend I check out when the store in my are opens soon? I've heard wonderful stuff about TJ and have always been jealous that I didn't have one in my area. Now, they are opening one and I can't wait to check it out. Tell me what you buy from there so I can start making my list.
  3. Thanks for your suggestion. I am extremely picky about artificial sweetener and it took me forever to find a protein source I could tolerate. I still like it postop but my new tummy sure doesn't. On the next couple of days I plan to get the little 2 oz. cups with lids and portion it out so that I a, drinking it slower and throughout the day.
  4. It is my understanding the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin is only removed in the VSG procedure. During my seminar the physician was very detailed about each procedure (band, VSG, RNY) and their advantages and disadvantages. He never mentioned that the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin was removed during the RNY and I think he would have if it was. Also, in all my research, I never read anything about the ghrelin producong portion of the stomach being removed during the RNY procedure.
  5. Yeah, following the postop diet and not cheating is a huge key to not having leaks. My doctor keeps his patients on a 3 week postop diet. He has a no leak record on people who didn't cheat that. Good luck to you.
  6. I had mine out in 2007. If you start having pain on the right side of your abdomen toward the bottom of your rincage, it is most likely your gallbladder. However, gallbladder pain can radiate too to other areas. Just be aware of it and check with your doctor if you have any abnormal pains. Especially due to the higher risk of having issues with it. For me, having my gallbladder removed was much easier than my VSG.
  7. Congrats on meeting your first goal! Let us know about that Genie Bra. I always wondered about those but am still to big to try them out.
  8. I'm on day 8 of 21 of my postop liquid diet. I look forward to the replies. Good question.
  9. Nerves before surgery are completely normal. Best of luck to you in your journey. Keep us posted.
  10. Hang in there. I promise it does get easier. After a few days, I started feeling amazing.
  11. Brag! We love to hear all types of successes here. I have my first postop appointment next Monday and can't wait to see where I'm at. Congrats on your success so far. Keep it going!
  12. Congrats! I was sleeved 8 days ago and am very excited for the journey ahead.
  13. Congrats on your success. Great pic! Your new name certainly goes along with it.
  14. Thank you for sharing your story. My highest weight too was the same as yours. I am 8 days postop and it is nice to read stories such as yours. This is a journey and I look forward to the journey I've just begun.
  15. I'm fairly new in my journey just having had surgery on June 5th. However, I started blogging shortly after I made the decision to have WLS. A link to my blog is below. Good luck to you in your journey!
  16. For desk jobs, my doctor starts out at 3 weeks and gives more if you need it.
  17. It looks like eggs and retried beans are the popular first foods. I just finished up 1 of my 3 weeks of liquids and I so can't wait for real food! It's gonna be a long 2 more weeks. The positive thing though is I'm not getting in many calories so my weight loss should be good. :-)
  18. Congrats on your NSV's! How exciting!
  19. I was cash pay so my process too moved fast. Had I not had to have a sinus surgery before my VSG, it would have moved even faster. Good luck on your journey!
  20. Congrats on your NSV. I know that made you so happy. Also. I hope you did well on your exam.
  21. Good luck to you both. When you feel up to it, come check in and let us know how you are doing.
