  1. I'm still sampling protein powders and having an issue. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if my issue is just something I'm going to have to live with. I put my protein powder in a blender bottle and shake, shake, shake. No matter how much I shake, it still doesn't completely dissolve. It still has little "pieces" of protein powder in it. Is it something I'm doing or not doing or just something I'm gonna have to live with? Also, if I want to mix my powder in a warmed soup, how do I do that? Put the soup in the blender bottle? If so, do you warm it before or after the protein powder is in it? Thanks!
  2. I'm looking into Vitamins and have a couple of questions. 1.) will I be able to use gimme vitamins immediately after surgery or do I need to find a liquid or dissolvable form, 2.) should my Multivitamin have Iron or no iron it it and 3.) any recommendations on good tasting vitamins? Thanks!
  3. I actually considered looking for a surgeon who doesn't use a pre op diet. I haven't started mine yet, but I'm sooooooooo dreading it. Count yourself as lucky!
  4. I see several of you are from Keller. I am in Coppell but most of my family live in Keller. I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr. Nicholson on May 22nd.
  5. Wow! You look awesome. It people like you who inspire me!
  6. Congrats! That reminded me of a "funny" story. I had sinus surgery last week and the scale weighed me in kg. I weigh in kg. what I want to weigh in pounds. I also found it comical that the nurde weighing me really thought she needed to tell me my weight was in kg. and not pounds. Yeah, thanks. I know I don't weigh 135 pounds. :-) ~Amy
  7. The nutritionist told ne it isn't absorbed very well in the stomach and even less with small tummies. Hence, the need for sublingual. ~Amy
  8. Thanks! I've only heard good things too about both Dr. Nick and FP. The only "negative" thing I heard is Dr. Nick doesn't see you after surgery. Was that true with you? How long did you stay in the hospital? Do you go to the monthly support groups at Baylor Plano?
  9. When/where was your surgery? Any regrets using Dr. Nick?
  10. I've tried the Unjury and it is what I find tolerable and what I planned on using until the BA salesman told me I needed meal replacement preop. I'm still not sure why meal replacement is necessary preop but not postop. I got kinda a runaround answer when I questioned that.
  11. Thanks for sharing your experience. More and more, I think I'm leaning away from them except for maybe their peanut high Protein bar which I loved.
  12. After my doctor appointment the other day where I chose my date, I met with a rep from Bariatric Advantage. It was good because I got to try everything. However, I almost feel like I might be being taken by a salesman. Of course, his products were the best and no others compared nutritional wise. However, I detested his Meal Replacement Protein powder for the preop diet. When I tried to talk about other options like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and the likes, he just wasn't having it because they aren't Meal Replacements with all the Vitamins and minerals. After surgery, I could use those but prior to surgery he was insistent I needed meal replacement shakes. Also, his vitamins were specifically made for pre and post Bariatric surgery and, in his opinion, there just wasn't anything else out there comparable. I understands he is a salesman, but geeze, his stuff wasn't cheap. The preop shakes, bars and "chips" is $180.00. The one month postop is $129.00 and the vitamins (multi, Calcium, b-12 , and d) will run me a little over $100.00 every 3 months. I don't have a problem spending money for my health. I do have issues with spending more than necessary just to have Bariatric specific stuff and for their protein meal replacements I detest just because the salesman's opinion is that his stuff is the best and because he feels I need meal replacements (instead of just protein shakes) during my preop. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for here. Maybe, to know what y'all are using and your thoughts of using bariatric specific products. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions. ~Amy
  13. That is great. I can't wait to do that one day.
  14. I agree that your husband should be on your "team". However, you cannot control what he chooses to do and what may come of it with his aunt and cousin. It's his decision and it's him who will have to suffer the consequences of his choice. You wouldn't be responsible for that and shouldn't worry about it, IMHO. I hope for you that he keeps his mouth shut and lets y'all enjoy "your vacation". Good luck!
  15. I tend to be a fast drinker....especially with a straw. However, postop, the straw might be an advantage. I have straw Water bottles so I think I'm gonna get one without so I have both options for whatever works best. Thanks! ~Amy
  16. Thanks y'all. I did find one that has the straw in it but you can take it out and it becomes a sipper. That may be the way to go especially since I might forget to drink slower.
