  1. Welcome! Best wishes on your journey. There is alot of great support here. THis site can be a little weird. Sometimes it is full of positive support and successful stories posted. Then for a week or two, it will take a turn to the negative and every post will be about a complication or failure. The week before my surgery all that was posted was band slips and "I have failed". I was freaked out! So just beware.

I am only 2 months post op but I am so happy. I feel better already and I am already at green zone and feel little or no hunger and get full fast. It is so great since I have never had that in my life.

  2. I have 5 cc until today and now 5.6 cc in my band. I eat around 850 - 1000 calories a day. I eat on a small side plate and keep the food to taht size. I measure out carbs (rice and pasta) to 1/4 cup (more like a small taste). I eat protien first and a side salad or broccoli as filler. I usually eat greek yogart in the morning. I have also found that on days I am very hungry that refried black beans (1/4 - 1/2 cup) really helps fill me up and curbs the hunger. Plus it is protien as well. I log everything everyday and that seems to be the one thing that keeps me on track. If I have a bad day, I log it too so I can see how just a few bites here and there add up. It keeps me accountable.

I struggle somedays but it is more good days than bad. Weekends are a mental challenge for me b/c my family eats worse. SO it is a work in progress for me. Each weekend I do better I tell myself I am making good changes. I try not to go to the negative place in my head when I dont do well.

    I hope that helps.

  3. Way to go. I am also impatient and my weight loss is not as fast as I had hoped (26 all together, 16 since surgery on 5/8/12). Others seem to lose quickly but I am telling myself that I am in it for the long haul and that perhaps I need yet another lesson in patience. I started C25K last week but it is getting so hot I may do Zumba for a while and restart it during the fall. Being out of pluz size is such a huge success. I am happy for you!

  4. I am one month in. I lost alot the first week. Then nothing and then I put the scale away last week. I am measuring my food, tracking cals, getting water, and working out. I cannot beleive I cannot lose anything.

I also had a big mouth. I usually am an open book but now every day everyone askes, so "how much are you down now', "how do you feel", "are you happy", can you eat that?......

I feel like I have to get a report to everyone every day and I see alot of people. I wish I could take it back and not tell anyone. It is not like me to be quite but being accountable to an entire office and having to act like it is going great when I have so much doubt is really hard. My mom called me two weeks before surgery and said "why dont you get the sleeve instead". Now that is all I keep hearing in my head. "I would have done better with the sleeve".....

Very difficult! I feel you pain! I hate failure and especially public failure. I am hoping green zone will help but I already am following a strict caloric intake. Ugh!

  5. I had the same thoughts and I am not a nervous person either. The weekend before surgery I was shopping and had a total struggle not to buy biscuits, break, cake. I really had to talk myself down. I also had a huge desire to walk out of the pre-opt room at the hospital. I started to ask myself "what are you doing, you can just diet harder, just pull the IV and walk out". But I didnt and I got the surgery. I am only two weeks out and all those feelings are gone. I am happy. I also have realized as well as talking to other banded people, I am not going to give up those things, I am just going to eat way less.

Now I get hungry. I make my 1/2 cup meal and my brain says there is no way this is enough. HOwever, before it is all gone, my body says, "thats enough, you are full". It is great! I never thought I would be fine with 3 - 5, 1/2 cup meals (3 meals later when I get to one cup). Just hang in there, let the thoughts happen and go through with it. That is my advise!

  6. My hair stylist told me to start Nioxin shampoo and conditioner as well as a hair and nail vitamin (she gave me a month bottle of GROH from Visible Changes that is suppose to work wonders). I have not had my surgery but I plan to start all of this hair treatments the week I have the proceedure to offset any loss. I may switch to biotin once the 30 day bottle of GROH is gone due to cost. I have heard alot on this site about biotin.

  7. Maybe during large family meals you can "have plans already set" or have a class at the gym you are taking to get you out of the house and usually when you exercise you have a better outlook and mood. I am sure it is difficult right now to exercise since you have such a limited calorie intake but a pedicure might be nice :)

If I were you, I would never sit in my room sad and alone again. Only you are in control of your feelings. Choose not to be sad and get out and do soemthing different. Later they will see you leaving and exercising while they stuff their faces. As you get skinner and come in after a run while they are all carb loaded, they will start to be the ones taht feel bad. Just thoughts!

I am so sorry that you felt that way. SO tough!

  8. THat is great to hear! Gotta love a Dr telling you that you are doing well especially since we heard for so many years that we werent doing enough. Good job! (Since your ticker isnt on blogs, how much have you lost? Any NSV you are proud of other than the cleaned out closet? I love to hear all of that stuff!

  9. That is so awesome. I cannot wait for the day that I can go buy something that is NOT plus size. I am a 20 pant and XL top. So I plan to not buy a single thing until it is in a normal store. I have enough inbetween stuff till that time. I also have been day dreaming of a closet less packed with ugly fat clothes!

    Love reading this!

  10. Great job at 12 days! You were very stong to make such yummy food and not eat it. It is amazing that you have lost more than a pound a day. Great work. I hope I can post something like that when I am 12 days out.

Do you clothes already feel better? It is so great that others are even noticing already. Thanks for posting :)

  11. Those areawesome stories. Sometimes I get on this site for encouragement and read so much negativity. I appreciate the two stories you shared. I am soon to have surgury and feel like I will never see anything other than a size 20. I was an 8 in HS so if I got to a 10 or 12 I think I would faint in the store. I have a little of the oposite problem with the mirror. I am a very happy entergetic person. I think I should look like that. So when I see a picture of myself or a reflection in a glass window, I am shocked each time. I cannot wait till my mental image matches how I feel inside. You girls keep up the good work and continue to post stuff for us new ones so we dont only read about failures.

  12. IT is amazing to hear that you have lost over 100 lbs. It is so great to hear your story about going to the Buckle. I have walked by that store many times thinking the stuff looks so cute and knowing I cannot shop there. I will have my surgery on 5/22 and I know that it will be a difficult struggle. But I am still excited just to have the help of the band on my journey. I got up to 300 lbs once and since i had my son, I have been at 260 - 270. I am proud that I did not go back up to my top weigh but sad that I cannot get lower (for more than a month). I feel if I can maintain 6 years, then with the band I can do better.

I love reading other's stories and yours was great too. I need to hear postiive things from people that have been successful. Thanks.
