Yeah, I'm curious too!

I should add that quite poignantly, that fortune was from my "last meal" at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant right before I started my liquid diet. It was like a little extra nudge that I made the right decision.

This has been true with me too! Nothing or little weight loss, and then boom! 3-5 pounds fall away....
I just keep going forward. As my fortune cookie I got (presurgery) told me, "Always remember where you are going and never forget where you've been."

I concur on the boots, I love your whole outfit!
I am really glad to hear that you are putting you first. It can be such a challenging thing for us. I hope you keep shining in 2013!

The purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver some to make it easier for the surgeon to get around during surgery. Most doctors will want you to do at least a one day liquid diet, but all are different. I had to do a one week liquid diet.
When in doubt, always ask your surgeon what he/she would like for you to do to prepare for surgery. Congratulations and good luck on your journey!!

Oh... I really liked the Chike shakes, they have a great taste.

Don't feel bad. I read on this site from loads of people how bored they got with chocolate protien, but you know I never did. And its the one thing I still actually look forward to drinking from the dreaded 6 weeks of healing where I had to rely on protien shakes alone. My favorite is still the Chocolate Splendor from Unjury as well. I never tried the strawberry, because well... I like chocolate flavor so much more. I have a huge tub of Roadside Lemonaide, a bag of cookies and cream, and vanilla protien that I can't seem to bring myself to want to drink.

It is your choice, but in your shoes I would have still chosen the sleeve. Based on its success rate, and its complication risks. Its a tool, just like a bypass would be. How successful that tool is to you depends on how well you use it, and how well you make the necessary changes in your life to make that tool do its job.

My doctor and my NUT both want me to stear clear of shakes at this stage. Liquid calories add up fast and are not as filling now that I'm all healed up.
Precooking would be a good idea, I just never feel like I have the time to do it. Its just me and my boyfriend at home though, and if I ever feel like not cooking, and want an easy night he has no problem with finding something on his own.
I just need to be smarter in what I'm eating right now. I need to remember I'm in the weight loss phase still and not maintenance.
Thank you for your ideas!

Thank you! I think I had an expectation in my head that I was going to keep having this crazy fast weight loss, but my body was actually at the weight I'm currently at for probably 5 -6 years. I stayed at this weight a long time... so my body is comfy here. I think this is part of the issue too. Time to step it up.
i think my NUT was also impressed with how fast that first 47 pounds fell off and gave me that challenge. But, all its done is stress me out and make me angry at myself for being a failure. You're right though. I need to not worry about her. I need to stick to my own goals, which are smaller and feel more obtainable.

Oh honey, I totally get this post. It will get better!! Stick through all the hard stuff, and on the other side is a healthy life! I'm almost half way to my goal, and all I can think about is feeling comfortable in smaller clothes! Thats the first thing that has made me happiest, getting dressed in the morning is soooo much easier. I don't worry as much about whats showing or how it fits... it just fits. Hang in there!!

I'm with you. I tried to look up online nutrional certification or degrees, and really had no luck. I'm not having much luck finding a school period. I know its out there somewhere!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do! I think that both of the things you mentioned sound like awesome ideas. And following our passons only adds to our new happy healthy lives!

Freezer. Spend a free weekend afternoon cooking and freeze things so you have grab and go for the week or a couple of weeks at a time. Hard boil some eggs, they keep for a while and make great grab and go additions to lunch bags. I've found lots of great bento sites that do talk about being too busy, and they have short cuts and tips like that to help. I figure if I invested in this surgery for me, investing the time to make sure I'm happy and well feed after is just as important. I hope you find some helpful tips! If you're interested in any of those websites, let me know and I'll pass them along.

This book, is actually about a by-pass patient, but she has some great points that totally reflect, I think, for us sleeve patients as well. I highly recommend it.

Hi Shapeshifter - I totally get this. Please don't take this the wrong way but, its great to hear that someone else had the same struggle as me. I am still working on realizing it was not my eating habits, at 1400 -1600 vegetarian calories not losing weight, but this blasted PCOS and the broken metabolism it gives me. I am a hoop dancer (with hula hoops) and I watched all those folks who started hooping with me, just shed pounds, while I... I did nothing. Even though I was eating clean, and portioned.
We can so do this! When is your sugery? I hope to stay in touch with you and see how you progress!

Hoping you have good news to share!

Good luck, hon! I hope everything falls into place for you. And if it doesn't this time, keep fighting to find a way to make it happen.
I just got my surgery date, so I'm that phase of , Whoa, its really happening. June 27th I will be reborn.
Hope to see your story as it evolves!

Wow Spatters.... glad to see your positive follow up comment. *huge hugs to you!*
Your post actually just hit a note for me. I have PCOS, and it has caused some complications, which is a small word for all the issues. My Oby-gyn told me that if I don't lose weight, I'm a prime candidate walking down the road to uterine cancer. I'm pre-op and I get wobbly about my decision sometimes, thinking about all the foods I have to give up, but this post is a reminder as to the real reasons why this is an important decision.
Thank you for sharing with us.

Good luck! And hope for a speedy recovery!

Yay! Just remember through it all that once you're on the other side, its all about your health. And that cute little top. I wish you a speedy recovery, and look forward to reading how things go. I'm hoping for a surgery date setting next month.
Constipation anyone?
