  1. Hello everyone and thank you for giving me so much help and inspiration as I start this journey. I am a 39 year old single mom of two kids (18 and 6). I divorced about 1.5 years ago and am just starting to now be happy again. I got the lap-band from Dr. Ortiz in TJ back in December of 2009. I have to admit that my head wasn't in the game. I hate the damn thing and am so tired of getting stuck and puking. Just started researching having the band removed and maybe getting bypass. That is when I came across all of the sleeve info. I researched docs. and since my insurance won't touch WL surgery with a 10 foot poll I chose to venture to Mexico again. This time I am going to see Dr. Aceves. Dr. Ortiz was fantastic but after reading all of the stories about Aceves being "the man" when it comes to revisions I have decided to go with him. Anyhoo my surgery is scheduled for May 11 and I can't wait. Until that day comes I am going to read, read and read some more and make sure I do it right this time. I got banded at 212 lbs. and now I am at 231. UGH! Thank you for the support and all of the information, I look forward to sharing all of our experiences together on this amazing journey.
  2. I am new to the site as well. Good luck with your surgery. Are you excited? Who is performing your surgery? I have to wait until May for mine. Take care.
  3. I am a little over two months out until I have my revision with Dr. Aceves. Are there any books you would recommend and why? I have bought one for my Kindle already called "The Emotional First-Aid Kit: a practical guide to life after bariatric surgery". I have also been checking out "The Gastric Sleeve" by Dr. Garcia (I believe). Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.
  4. Wow! You look amazing. Don't worry. Most of my pictures I have a drink in hand too. That is changing though.
  5. I've never had an epidural. Nervous about that. They give it after you're asleep?
  6. I think you can just create an account. That is what I did. I know some of my friends had a hard time signing up. If that doesn't work PM your email to me and I will send you an invite.
  7. OMg that is hilarious! I just sent it to all of my friends!!! HAHAHAHA!!!
  8. When I go on Pinterest I just peruse the boards I want to see. Don't go to the main board. Just go to the Fitness board, DIY crafts and Hair and Beauty. lol Then you won't be bombarded with all of the crappy food.
  9. I'm giving up all of those things too. What I do to keep busy is look for stuff to make on PINTEREST. I've made lotion bars, bath bombs, laundry soap, crafts etc. It helps me a lot. Good luck to you.
  10. I hope you get more replies. I'm scheduled for May and need to lose 20 lbs by then. HELP US!!! lol
  11. That is great to hear. I'm scheduled with Dr. Aceves on May 11. Did you have a revision to sleeve or just sleeve surgery? What do you do during the three days in the hospital?
  12. That is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing. I'm having my revision to Vgs in May and I'm going to do the same thing. You are truly an inspiration.
  13. Just joined the forum today. Thank you for all of the information that I have been picking up. I have been emailing Nina who works for Dr. Aceves but I think after reading this thread I might check out Dr.'s Garcia and Kelly too. Thanks everyone.
