  1. it hasnt got a strong flavour of its own but it takes on the flavour of whatever is cooked with it. i like it. i like the texture as well.
  2. goodness me.. .thats scary. you mean to tell me that you go through that agony 4-5 times a week?/ is your band too tight??
  3. i havent coped all that well really. im having problems letting go. i have a fill on the 7th. i will talk with the dr about it all then.
  4. yep.. your sub conscious telling you that its time. you are doing the right thing. hugs for you. judy
  5. ..and it sounds like torture to me as well. i reckon this is the b est idea. Just cook for the others basically what you are allowed to have. mostly ive done this and its not been too bad. its the speed my family wolf their food down with that worries me more.
  6. its pretty normal. i didnt have the crying but got irritated easily. Your emotions will do a roller coaster ride for a little while. Dont worry too much about it, it happens to a lot of us. Not sure why the hormones are affected... but they are. You will get over it.
  7. no post op loss... down 18 pounds in nearly seven weeks.
  8. definately better on your body to have the extra time off... give it every chance. REst up.
  9. ive had hysterectomy and two knee replacments, plus heaps of other surgeries. i think the only surgery that made me feel worse after woods for any length of time was a Birch's suspension. that was horrific. With my knees i didnt have the ongoing after the initial post op, with this it never stops lol. its there for life. i think when it hit me it really pulled me up short, lol.
  10. .. it could also be that you are gulping in some air... without knowing it. Thats how i feel, thats ive somehow taken in air with my chewing and it wants to come back up again. it seems that most of us here have the problem with it. Tonight however, i had a good tea, took my time with it, well over a half hour. no burping at the end of it so i reckon taking it slowly meant that i didnt take in so much air.
  11. boy... hope you dont get into trouble like i do then.. lol. isnt it hard not to take a large mouthful when hungry?? i know that feeling well. im hoping that my first fill will help to take care of that. i wonder how long it will take me to get the message??? lol.
  12. i agree completely.. all the action is in the esophagus, with the band at the bottom providing the restriction. the esophagus has two ''spasms' to get the bolus ( mouthful of food) down into the pouch. this is where the problem is. the esophagus is trying very hard to push the food down into the pouch and its very restricted. So... result?? very painful spasms in the chest. NOthing can ease it really.. .only waiting for it to be able to manage to pass the food through. Either that or try and bring the mouthful back up... i wont do that if i can help it. vomiting to me brings up visions of a lapband moving. so.. the few episodes ive had i just have to suffer ... and wait for it all to pass through the band. it does eventually.
  13. do you use a dressing with this?? im going to try this one.
  14. thats fantastic... i love the swimming bit. are you close to a pool?
  15. i love salads too.. ive just got my first crop of mature dill growing... and as well, ive got italian parsley and rocket... i add these to iceberg and its wonderful. but, im having problems yet with salad. its early days for me. we cant buy fresh lettuce here so im trying to supplement as much as possible with additives as ive just said. its working. ive also planted ''greek lettuce'' which is more hardy. it has a peppery taste and will grow through winter as well. im hoping that will be a tasty additive to our salads this year. we are just going into winter now.
  16. i hope it never happens to me again but i will remember this.... i had an awful experience last night. it did frighten my hubbie a bit. he wondered '' what on earth...?""
  17. well, the pain in my left shoulderblade that was present after surgery with gas has now taken on the role of telling me when ive had enough... and would you believe, when im hungry?? it will be interesting to see if it reacts the same way after a fill?
  18. i agree with Maria.. you could try watering down your shakes a little more ... see if that helps. what about low sugar icypoles??
  19. Im six weeks post op and i had a little salad on saturday night. it wasnt easy for me to eat. i only had a little. HOnestly, im wondering if i need a fill on the 7th may?? or is my problem just about the right amount of chewing and the right sized bites.?? i do feel hungry. im having about a cup of food now each main meal and sometimes a little bite or two inbetween. what you do all reckon?? .. is my issue not chewing enough or dont i need a fill?? its a bit hard for me to choose right now. i know that i will have to talk with the dr about it all. i dont want to get mixed up between the two issues.. after all i am getting hungry.
  20. i love lucy lover... do you forget that you have the band in, like i do at times?
  21. i must remember this... i had an episode last night. i did the stretches and bent over... it was an hour before it settled at all. not nice at all.
  22. keep up everything you know to do. it might go away quickly and then again it may not. everyone is different. i had the pain in my shoulder and neck for weeks... in the end it just calmed down and now it tell me when im hungry and when im full. Its going to be a good tool... something i will recognise easily.
  23. well.. here i go again.. lol.. ive had about three episodes now that i would have loved to have avoided, but im slow to learn. lol. Last night i was cooking potato chips under the grill for hubbie. i sometimes forget ive got the band now?? (not good lol) ... well,i was cooking chips and just grabbed one, put half in my mouth . .. chewed about five times and swallowed. As soon as, i freaked. immediately my chest was on fire.food churning and coming back up into my throat. the pain was awful. i couldnt do anything to get rid of it. i was salivating... wanted to be sick but couldnt. this lasted for an hour. it was one of the most horrible experiences ive gone through for a long time. I just couldnt do anything to stop it. So... a big lesson. Dont take the chance by just '' popping food into your mouth''.... i did... and it cost me. I was able to have about three mouthfuls of cold tea before i went to bed.(hours later, the experience left me feeling quite ill ) Chewing like you wouldnt believe this time... and i was o.k. Theres nothing like getting stuck with food to make one realize just what a big surgery this is... and how it impacts. i hope this has helped to warn you off not chewing properly. Now... if i had donethe right thing and bitten off a tiny bit, which by the way would have given me just enough of a taste... if Id done that and chewed over 30 times, i would have been o.k. just a little warning here.
