  1. ..and this is a big problem. i hear you. did the pharmacist give you any other ideas on how you can get around this?? after all, these meds are important... they are what was prescribed by your dr so you do need to take them. not only that but there must be a lot of us here who are in the same boat? Take me for instance... o.k.. my b/p meds can be dissolved or even cut in half ..ive been doing that. but, i want to take supps . like CoQ10... both my hubbie and myself have been on this supp for years now. it comes in capsule form. i can take them without restriction.. but what happens after my first fill?? Does anyone here have any solutions to this problem?? im sure there are a lot of us who take meds that cant be ''opened''... as in capsules.
  2. the popsicles.. we call them icypoles.. lol.. sound wonderful. thats one thing i never had when on liquids. im in australia.
  3. good luck with your pre op diet. i hope you bought some greek yoghurt.... its going to make a huge difference to your protein shakes when you start them. are you on them already??
  4. can you grind them down. mash them?? ive done that with tablets i have to take as well.. its a pain i know.
  5. great that you are having fish scorpiolady... make sure its moist. i had some tinned salmon this morning... two spoonfuls, teaspoons, and nearly vomited it back up again. im nearly five weeks post op. it was the closest to vomiting i ever want to come to. i even felt like passing out . it was horrible.
  6. congratulations ... you have thought it all out and timed it well. You will succeed with this. Im so glad that your family are behind you in it all, and that you have found a group thats so supportive.. meeting with the group should help you a lot with some of the emotional problems with eating that you may have. groups are wonderful therapy.
  7. hi there pink dahlia.. i love that name.. lol. Yes, this is a good suggestion. i had some blood work done recently but not sure if there was iron in that or not. perhaps i should ring my dr and ask?? i used to have iron deficiencies years ago but after menapause i stopped worrying about it. i will make a note it now and try and follow up tomorrow. thanks.
  8. yep.. know the feeling... lapband hell is an understatement.
  9. GOOD ON YOU !!!! some people have too much to say and no wisdom.
  10. i know what you mean... im more than ready to chew on something as well. my hubbie better stay out of range.! lol.
  11. yes, thats a thought. i had forgotten about B12. i used to inject it into my thigh... i must get some more. i dont think im have way too many carbs. mostly im around 1000 mark, i think that today i may go over... but not by much.
  12. hi everyone. im just over four weeks out post op. for the first couple of weeks i felt really good.. but the last week or two ive been really tired come lunchtime. i have had to lay down and have a nap of an afternoon and im not getting much done . im getting concerned about it all. i shouldnt be feeling this way. i did consider... is it hypoglycemia?? but, thinking it through i dont think it is. ive been on low carb diets in years gone by and when ive had hypoglycemia ive felt dizzy with it as well i dont have that this time. so, its just the intense tiredness. Im taking Barley green for extra nutrition. im just doubling up on the dosage of that this afternoon and will keep that up...Today ive eaten over my quota im sure and i havent gotten to tea yet. Also, im feeling hungry a lot of the time. for lunch i ended up having 2 eggs mixed in with baked Beans and a little chicken broth. i still felt like i hadnt had enough. my first fill is in two weeks exactly ..... has anyone got any suggestions for me?? all input gratefully received.. hugs judych
  13. ihad my first visit with the nutritionalist the other day and mentioned it and she had never heard of it. i believe it though. i come from a fishing family that goes right back. we know more about the weather and its vagarities than most people do.
  14. definately you need to see a nutritionalist. it sounds like you need some accountability... we all do at some time. dont despair, you can get back on the right track . dont let your past interfere with your future.
  15. i dont think you are going to fail but be careful with what you are doing right now. By all means have some Protein but it has to be mushie right now if thats what you were told to have. im borderline right now between mushies and more solid food but even now i chew about fifty times if i have a small piece of meat or fish in my mouth. At least ive learned to do that.. i dont like having any fibrous pieces in my esophagus... try and add some beef broth or chicken broth to your meat... let it soak for a while? i know that chicken can be dry, certain parts of it are. i had some chicken pieces last night... it was marinated . i had about three small pieces, chewed fifty times each mouthful, loved it. i was getting very hungry for meat. im glad my first four weeks is up. i have my first fill in another two weeks.
  16. ive not had any hair loss at all... i did read somewhere that hair loss can be a problem... why is that i wonder?? Is it due to more nutrition??
  17. a good idea...i found that the shoulder pain was an issue. it still is, and im noticing, a month post op that the shoulder pain comes when im hungry and when im full... i im thinking that its going to be with me for good. i guess in a way it will re inforce my discipline, which wont hurt. lol. i found the actual discomfort from surgery was minimal, and i got over that quickly. hunger is a biggie for me right now... im going onto more solid mushies now but its winter here and i always get really hungry this time of year. i agree about the carbs being addictive and causing more hunger. No doubt about that. over EAster was a problem for me. I had some pains in my gut as well after surgery, i guess it was the change in diet. That can rear up again but it doesnt last. its important to have something gentle in the way of laxatives handy even before you have surgery. A major diet change often does upset the system a bit. im just starting to come right and its been a month. Also, ive found that emotional hunger is a biggie for me. Thats something im going to have to fight for quite a while until my brain is rewired.. lol Thats about it with me. Ohh.... on the positive side, fantastic weight loss the first two weeks, most of it fluid. the change in my facial appearance and the absence of pain in my feet and lower legs has been just wonderful. it more than stacks up against the other things.
  18. i agree. im in the same situation and its been really hard for me cooking for two men and doing big meals for them.. im considering having my meals beforehand and just sitting at the table with them to talk. its often the case that im still eating way after they have finished and are moving around cleaning the table. i dont like that. im not enjoying me meals with their activites so im thinking seriously of just having my meals first. All the advice here is good. i must remember about drinking more water as well. i have coffee which dehydrates .
  19. if it were me i would take a week off if able to. It does take a few days to just get the anaesthetic out of the system.
  20. this is really interesting but i suppose when you think of it , it does make sense.
  21. im trying to not get on my scales so much. i know that ive slowed down ... i dont think ive lost any weight in about three days, but, having said that, my waist is coming back and im losing my stomach so even though its not registering on scales something is happening. Im having mushy foods now. anywhere between 800 -1000 most days. Some days im not quite that much. im a month today.
  22. ... have you been putting yughurt in your protein shakes?? i did right from the beginning and it made a difference to me.. there is extra protein in the yoghurt. i use Greek yoghurt. it seems to be the best. good luck. i know what its like to suffer those awful hunger pains, and i had them about four days out myself.
  23. Catfish.. you are so right... and i must remember this for myself. Its taken 25 years for my weight to creep up as well, so it wasnt overnight. Its going to take me a while to learn all over again as well. i just hope i learn quickly. lol.
