Thats wonderful, I can hardly wait until I too can say that I'm not on any of my pre-surgery meds. You look great, keep up the good work. I said I was going to exercise today but I hadn't as of yet. Earlier I posted that I was feeling a little tired and was about to take a nap. But now after reading your post I am going to exercise -

15 pounds in 3 weeks!! That's awesome! An average loss of 10 lbs a month is awesome. Good for you! Keep up the great work! You can try protein smoothies from Jamba Juice that are awesome too. I also have used a strawberry protein powder blended with frozen fruit and water and it's pretty good -- I get the powder from GNC. I got to my goal in about 9 months and now under and maintaining. You will get there!

This is a pretty common concept among heavy people who have lost a lot of weight. Our minds sometimes have a delay catching up how we really look. I think that is why sometimes we still need some counseling to help us adjust to the new us. I look you have lost a lot of weight, I did weigh 248, now around 150. I wear a size 8, used to wear a 24. People tell me all the time, don't lose anymore weight, your so skinny. I even get, I didn't realize you were so short, duhh, yes I was always 5'1' but I used to be real "fat" so I was wider than tall. Funny but just recently I caught a side few of myself walking down a hall in a window, I actually stopped and took a second look. OMG, who is that person? I barely recongnize myself these days, I look totally different. The only thing that makes me realize it is really me is my smile and my natural curley hair, everything else is gone. So yes I can relate, I never thought I was that big until I look back now and realize, oh yes I was that big. I keep a reminder on my frig, I never want to forget how I looked because I never want to go back there. I am now working my butt off to try and tone up some of my shrinkles for the summer. You look amazing, put your pictures side by side, it really gives you prospective on how we once looked. I did mine on my profile page before and after. It helps to see how you have changed. Learn to love your new body and be proud of your success.

Your post is disturbing. I've only been banded for 5 months and so far so good. I know and I knew going in that there are no guarantees that this would work. Maybe it won't?
However, I've met dozens of people through support groups, Dr appointments and through this forum who would disagree with your heartfelt and passionate comments. Obviously you're disappointed that the band did not work for you and maybe it was the band, the surgeon, or, you? There are so many variables with human nature that it can't be difinitive.
People reading your post might interpret your motivation as an angry attempt at disparaging a product that has without question, helped thousands of people regain their dignity and health. But to state that they are "horrible" and they don't work, flies in the face of reality.
You're angry and you're striking back. In the future I'd recommend you state this: "Buyer Beware. This may not work for you." But I knew this long before I made the commitment and so did you.

I know this will sound contradictory to weight loss, but have you considered raising your calories just 100-200 a day? I know it doesn't make sense, but I was slowing down and read about how the body actually DOES need some carbs to kick start it into weight loss sometimes. So, I allowed myself more carbs for a week increased my calories by 200, and shock of shocks, I lost 8 pounds that week. I went back to my normal routine the following week, and lost another 4 pounds. Perhaps it could help you off your plateau, too.

Ok, guys. I stayed at the same weight from August of 2011 until Jan 2012. I went down 2 lbs up 2 lbs. I didn't cheat, I ate healthy. I tried to exercise but due to an injury it just didn't happen. I had hoped to be at goal within a year of surgery. I thought I only have 103 lbs to loss, I can do that. But it didn't happen. I had a fill on Jan 30th and bam, 20 lbs gone. Can't explain it, don''t even begin to understand it. Do not get discouraged, if you are eating right and exercising, it will come off. I think the one thing I am learning more than anything is patience. And believe me some days it is hard. I exercise my butt off these days. Scales barely move, I drop a pound and turn around and gain 2. I drop my carbs, I increase my protein. Scales have not budged but I have dropped another size. Please remember this is about the journey and changing behavior and a life time of bad habits. Jennifer you will get in those jeans, I bought a skirt at the end of the summer last year, it took me 7 months to fit into it, and now it is 2 sizes to big. It was a 12 and I looked like a stuffed sausage in it, the first day I wore it to work I could barely sit down but it zipped up and I was going to wear it. Girls we will get there, I believe in all of us.

i think if you keep digging around this site and you will see that others have experienced this as well. it seems to be pretty normal. once the swelling from surgery goes down most don't have any restriction and some people do begin to gain as the band is not serving its purpose yet because you haven't had a fill. so during this phase most commonly referred to as bandster hell you are totally left to rely on good old fashioned will power to restrict your portions. the best you can do is make better choices so if you are eating more at least its more of the good stuff...if you have been cleared to exercise begin to move a bit if you are capable and this may at least help maintain all that you have lost so far. don't fret you will be ok and your band will begin to work wonders...this is just a part of the process for some:)

Wow four months! Keep it up you are doing great keep asking for help. I remember when. I needed to slow down and put the Fork, Knife, Spoon down for a rest during every meal. I used to play games and see just how long I could let them be, before I picked them up again. I was always a (gulper) and a one bite (swallower). The band will keep you on your toes if you do not hold to those rules. Chew, chew, chew and chew some more to beat the band. Your mind thinks one thing, your taste buds another and with one swallow to fast or too large..... well we all know what happens then. No liquids we all know with meals RIGHT!
I needed so much help back in the day and I still need to be reminded or my band will get the best of me. 100 pounds still off, June 29 will be my three year Bandversary and I am once a Newbie always a Newbie. Had the full nip and tuck upper and lower. Took my first Spinning Class at he YMCA last week and can't wait to go again. I enjoy being one of the small people. Eat small to be small!
Easy does it and keep blogging, its the only thing that helped me work with my band as well as I have. I still keep learning new things.
Going to FL at the end of the month and my biggest problem now is I have to many clothes and don't know what to bring. Go figure!
Best wishes on your journey and keep blogging it helps. imaluckydog

Hi there , yes i agree not going back to old habits is the best thing , im ony 2 days into my band and i have allway said to myself , i will treat the new halthy eating habits as if i was a new born stating out for the first time , well when you think about it its kind of like that , we start on liquid move to mush then go on to the real thing right! So for me i dont want to even entertain the idea of starting bad habits. I know i had a slip up or two on the pre diet and it made it that much harder to get back on track , i just started obsessing over the food thing again , so from now on it stay on the path and do step off it !!

yesyesyes!!! this is me! i was on 1000mg of metformin bid and 5mg of glipizide bid prior to surgery. my sugars were in the 70's immediately after surgery and my primary doc told me to stop taking my meds and keep checking my sugars daily. they have ranged from the mid-80's to the highest of 118. i went to see her last week and she discontinued all of my medications and rechecked my A1C. it was 8.8 in january and it is now 6.6!!!
