  1. I too have tried looking up long term, deaths anything related on the downside of a lapband and there is nothing. I think I find out more information on these community talk forums. I've barely been banded 10 days so I'm barely starting... let us know if you find anything!
  2. awwww well done by friend (wiping drool from my chin), you are on your way to the banded side!! Bert
  3. look online for free weight tickers, most everone uses the tickerfactory.com I think. once you have made it , you go to settings on this page and paste and copy code and it will show up everytim you post something. Don't forget to bookmart your ticker so you can make changes..
  4. oh really? didn't know that.... thanks
  5. That is something I think about, the erosion, and causes. I know we are limited but for it to wear out like that. I think if it happened to me, I would not put a new one in for awhile. my weight loss has been swift and before I had lapband done, (6 days ago). The surgery you mention must really be new if insurances aren;t covering, but I always have assumed if its for health reasons and your doctor would vouch for you, they would cover. I wish you well on your decision , keep us updated! Bert
  6. How do you know your band has had erosion?
  7. I havent seen it mentioned but what about almond or soymilk? me and milk are not friends or even pals.
  8. I read that you could take antacid, but check with md first, at least you found a way to get peace and quiet for yourself , I take 1/2 tums if after taking my meds bothers me.
  9. SWOLLEN AND ANGRY, that can describe alot of things, never thought it would be my stomach!, hope everyone is doing better, I'm still doing soups/clear liquids, I told hubby, I know I was gonna cheat, in fact I plan on it, I just have limitations. Food is one of life's greatest joys,
  10. hubby wants to know if epicac oil (to throw up ) would work?
  11. I'm guilty of a last meal, too, a piece of KFC (yes with skin, hangin my head, licking my fingers) and some taters n gravy. I was good with the one piece of thigh and had a good bm in am and was ready to go for surgery next am. I did really good with pre- surgery foods so I didnt feel guilty. The protein drinks did their job and my tummy was shrunk.
  12. my doctor recommended my lapband journey, it has awesome information, videos , a place to start writing down what you eat, and it will calculate your Protein, fats, carbs after a while you will start to see a pattern, I still go back to it. good luck!
  13. I was crying, more out of shock, that I had actually gone through it, my hubby would give me a hug and I would just start crying like no tomorrow. He's so supportive, hee said we would get through this together. not so bad now, banded 5 days out.
  14. I was told two versions, , that any meds I take had to be liquid now, no more ibprofen only tylenol. I could continue to take capsules ok, tablets break in half or crush, if heartburn to take antacid. I haven't been having any problems, as all but one of my pills would be considered big. I do take them early in day so they are in my body sooner. good luck. and hoepfully by the end of a few months we wont need anymore meds yeah!!!
  15. what you should do is check how much protein the medifast has , versus some of the other protein drinks.
  16. I got both whey and soy. hubby made first time with water, but yesterday he made with skim milk, No more milk for me, filled me so much gas last night I could of filled 100 balloons, lol. so today I made my shake with water.
  17. I was banded Tues. luckily no gas problems or shoulder pain but just couldnt sleep even with the viacadin first night, last night was first night I got more .. I can get up and move around the house with no problems. plan on going back to work Monday.
  18. heey I got banded on the 24th too!!! this is the PLACE for questions!
  19. I've gotten several versions of taking pills. that now anything you take has to be in liquid form and that you can take your pills you just have to take an antacid shortly after because of stomach juices? can someone else give me their versions?
  20. I found a way that I could drink it, like hot chocolate! boil some water put in your protein drink. I love the vanilla, sprinkle some cinammin on top, yummy. I could only drink 1 out of the 4 that I was supposed to. The nurse told me that there were some people who couldn't even drink one. and I still lost weight. I think because of the drink you will be getting loose stools, I would drink more water so it does get out of the body quicker. Good luck!
  21. call dr. ,my friend, I got banded yesterday and I have some chest pressure but nothing crazy, have your support person help you walk around alittle. I keep readying the more we walk the faster the gas is gone, what Im having problems with is fever, which the hospital nurse said is normal after all the drugs I was given, its alot of my body. good luck.
